Chapter 91: Floating Island
Li Wen naturally did not have the ability to fly to the Floating Islands.
It should be known that Talanis Air Continent flew at an altitude of 13,000 meters above the ground, which, according to real-world calculations, was already the stratosphere. Even with the flying ability of the Emerald Star Cloak in Li Wen’s Witch Form, she could not reach that altitude.
“So, there’s a problem: do you know how people get up to and leave the Floating Islands?”
Regarding this question, Moria answered without even thinking, “Directional Teleportation Array.”
Only a Directional Teleportation Array that ignored distance and was safe and stable could possess such an ability.
However, the Directional Teleportation Array was created based on the four-layered magic “Advanced Teleportation.” This meant that if someone wanted to set up such an array, they would need to have corresponding ritualistic knowledge and also possess strength at the fourth level.
The Black Dragon Territory obviously could not find such a person.
But while the Black Dragon Territory lacked one, the White Crane Bird Association was not short of fourth-level mages.
“We just need to let the mages of the White Crane Bird Association proactively come looking for us.”
Li Wen did not elaborate on what exactly needed to be done.
The carriage drove into the town. Originally, they had planned to find a civilian residence to stay for the night, but Li Wen insisted on finding a comfortable and quiet inn, reasoning that she needed a quiet place to perform the ritual.
Moria and the others didn’t have money, but Li Wen was not lacking in worldly currency. Among the belongings of the group of mercenaries she had killed, there was quite a lot of portable wealth in their camp.
However, with Li Wen paying for the accommodation, Moria felt a bit guilty. After all, it was he who had confidently vowed to bring the Path of Light Chasing back to the Holy See, and now, he was the one unable to afford even the cost of staying at an inn.
So Li Wen said, “If you really care, then after the people from the Bird Association arrive, don’t say anything and don’t do anything, just watch my performance.”
In the evening, Li Wen routinely ate a piece of buckwheat bread and returned to her room.
She filled the water basin in the inn room with clear water and placed it on the ground.
Then, she successively put valerian root infusion, crushed narcissus root powder, dead but uncorrupted rat fur, three drops of morning dew, and a large amount of lime into the basin. After all the materials were added, she stirred with an oak twig three times counterclockwise and two and one-third times clockwise.
At this point, the liquid in the basin had turned a milky white mixed with a semi-transparent substance. Li Wen took out a flint and gently struck it. Sparks fell into the basin, and it ignited instantly.
The fire in the basin leaped up high, but in a flash, it crawled back into the basin. It was orange-red in color, with a not-too-high temperature, even lower than normal flames.
Li Wen took out the letter she had just written and then affixed an olive leaf to it. In the world of mages, the olive leaf symbolized friendliness and the seeking of communication.
The envelope was placed into the basin by Li Wen, consumed by the flames like a moth drawn to a fire, and disappeared after a while.
Next, it was up to whether the mages of the White Crane Bird Association would fall for the bait.
And above the Black Dragon Territory, far above the clouds where no mortal could reach, a massive island was suspended.
It was about the size of five or six Wilson Towns, roughly an irregular inverted triangle. The bottom of the island was covered in dense, man-made mystical runes, which were flashing with dazzling light and were the basis for the island’s suspension.
The island was occupied by various strange and exotic buildings, the most conspicuous of which was a fortress composed of spires of different styles.
Inside one of the spires of the fortress, a mage wearing a green robe was organizing a pile of disordered letters and items. These letters and items were continuously falling before the mage through a hanging golden cauldron.
Although Talanis Air Continent never landed, it did not mean it had little contact with the outside world.
Whenever the Air Continent reached a region, a large number of envelopes, objects, and intelligence were uploaded to the Air Continent through a ritual. Since the most crucial part of the entire ritual was a circular magic circle embedded in the ground on Talanis Air Continent, the uploading step of the ritual was actually simple and convenient.
The main entities uploading these items were organizations friendly with the White Crane Bird Association, relatives and friends of Transcendent individuals on the Air Continent, and some association members who had left the Air Continent for various reasons.
The mage in the green robe was responsible for organizing these letters and items and delivering them to the residents and association members on the island.
Although repetitive work was tedious, today seemed to be different from the usual. A letter that did not have the permission, but was uploaded to the Air Continent through the golden cauldron, fell before the mage.
Did the ritual have a problem?
The mage was full of questions.
The ritual of Talanis Air Continent would not have such a problem, and although the mage was confused, he still picked up the letter.
The front of the envelope had an olive leaf pasted on it, and the back had a triangle pattern divided in half by a T-shape. Below the pattern, it was written, “Please forward to the most respectable Lady Ruby Marymana.”
Li Wen waited alone in the room. She believed that the mages of the Bird Association would definitely come, but the time of their arrival was undoubtedly a question.
Because a slight carelessness could lead to missing them, Li Wen neither went offline nor meditated. She patiently waited, flipping through “The Primordial Codex of Ending” in her mind.
She probably had to wait until tomorrow morning at the earliest…
Just as she thought this, there was a light knock on the door.
Li Wen’s spirits lifted, and she walked over to open the door.
Standing outside was an unusually tall figure. He was at least two and a half meters tall, completely covered in a black mage robe, not even revealing his face.
“Mephistopheles?” he asked, his voice dry and stiff, as if he hadn’t spoken in a long time.
Li Wen nodded, noticing a crest on the chest of his robe. The crest featured an ivory gull holding a ring in its beak, which was the symbol of the White Crane Bird Association.
“I’ve been ordered to take you to Talanis. You have half an hour to prepare.”
“I have a few companions who also need to go.” This was something she had already stated in the letter. After all, she would still rely on Moria to take her to the pilgrimage route, so she couldn’t just run off now.
The tall mage stepped aside to allow Li Wen to leave the room.
Li Wen went directly to Moria’s room and, seeing that there was light inside, pushed open the door.
Moria was in the room, polishing his sword, or rather, the fragments of his sword, under the candlelight. His weapon had been destroyed when facing Old Sem’s “shadow,” but he had not discarded it.
“The people from the Bird Association have arrived,” Li Wen stated frankly.
Moria was startled but didn’t ask further questions.
He had nothing to pack. After putting away his broken sword, he went to call the two Wild Mages and also informed the coachman downstairs, who was drinking.
Finally, Li Wen and her companions gathered before the member of the Bird Association.
“It’s done.”
The person remained silent. He took out a magic scroll and, without any hesitation, activated it. A distorted light enveloped everyone.
