Chapter 58: Urgent Plea for Help
“Dong—”
The deafening bell sound echoed, and Xia Feng looked up.
“The Free Trade Stage has ended. Please compose yourselves, as the Basic Predation Stage is now commencing.”
The Masked Man, wearing a black top hat, spoke in a playful tone and tossed a 37-sided die into the air, its black and white light spinning.
*Pat—*
The die landed: {19}.
“Lucky~” The Masked Man snapped his fingers and gestured towards Player 19, “Starting with Player 19, Player 19 may choose clockwise or counter-clockwise. Good luck to all.”
With that, his figure flickered and he disappeared.
The Basic Predation Stage began.
Players took turns activating their predation. Xia Feng saw that in the early stages, most players were attacking blindly, indicating that they had received very little information.
For example, Player 14 attacked Player 3 and failed, not only losing 4 Life Points but also wasting a Predation Card.
Xia Feng shook his head. As he was idly picking at his fingernails, it was Player 11’s turn to perform predation.
Player 19 had chosen the counter-clockwise order, so Player 11 initiated predation before him.
To Xia Feng’s surprise, Player 11 waved his card at him and then, with a teasing light laugh, inserted it into the card slot: “I am preying on Player 10.”
Xia Feng’s dark eyes narrowed slightly. That meant this guy actually had three of my Player ID cards! He used one to trade with me, another for the Basic Predation, and the last one would be used to hunt me in reality!
Not a single card was wasted, Xia Feng’s lips curled into a slight smile, but he didn’t pay it much mind.
Being the Ace Black Card had little value now, with only 9 Life Points in total, it wasn’t worth much.
[Player 11 preys on Player 10, predation successful—]
A deep and solemn broadcast sound echoed from all directions.
[Player 11 gains 4 Life Points, Player 10 loses 4 Life Points. Because Player 11 possesses the {Game Skill Card – Poison Sting}, Player 10 must first lose 2 Life Points this round before initiating predation—]
Xia Feng glanced at his own Life Points.
[Life Points: 5]
Not very healthy, but all minor issues. Xia Feng tapped on the panel, choosing to forgo predation. Player 11’s Life Points seemed to be quite high. Unfortunately, Life Point trading was no longer possible in this stage, or Xia Feng would have truly wanted to transfer another 4 points to Player 11.
Before long, the Basic Predation Stage ended. Xia Feng noticed that the edge of the circular platform suddenly lit up with a bright radiance, and countless purple light patterns converged like streams towards his feet, forming a teleportation array.
[Entering the Reality Hunting Stage. Wishing all players success in their endeavors!]
As the solemn heavenly voice echoed in his ears, a blinding light pierced his pupils. Xia Feng vaguely saw Player 11 place his palm at his neck and make a taunting cutting gesture towards him.
*Whoosh—*
The surroundings once again turned into mottled pixels, rushing towards him.
As if traversing through space-time, countless pixels connected into lines, flying past him from the front and streaming behind. In a moment of disorientation.
He landed on the ground and looked around. He was back inside the teaching building.
“Looks like a body possession.”
“Bzzzz—Bzzzz—”
His phone vibrated incessantly with incoming text messages.
*!*
Xia Feng looked at them with confusion. They were all messages from Mushroom.
[Mushroom Hates Potatoes: Urgent plea for help! Urgent plea for help! Feng, I need your help!]
[Feng? Are you there? Are you there? Are you there?]
[Where did you go? Did you fall into the toilet?]
[You didn’t actually fall in, did you?]
[Hello— Hello?]
[Help me, this time it’s really a big deal,呜呜呜—]
[Reply to me when you see this message, otherwise, I’m really finished!]
