Chapter 324 Kill! (3k)
The next day, at 9:08 AM, on the coast of a port in Eagle Country.
The azure sky was adorned with rolling clouds, and a gentle breeze occasionally caressed the land, lazily stirring the atmosphere. Sunlight filtered through the clouds, casting a warm glow upon the shimmering water below, creating an aura of profound laziness and comfort.
Fishermen returned from their endeavors, their bodies still dusted with a hint of mist. In their remote coastal town, there was an utter absence of commotion, no powerful individuals resided there, and a deep sense of peace permeated the air.
“Whoosh!”
Amidst this picturesque scene, a sudden explosive sound ripped through the sky, startling countless onlookers. A silver-white streak vanished into the distance, prompting some to immediately dial the local police department.
“They’re all War General level monsters!” the fishermen exclaimed, their eyes wide with shock, rendering them speechless.
Soon, small blue dots appeared, and after about ten seconds, these dots, imbued with wind-attributed airflow, transformed into over a dozen enormous eagles exuding a ferocious aura. With piercing screeches, they soared past…
“These are the extremely fast monsters from the Monster Museum! There are people on them too. They’re incredibly expensive to use and are only deployed in dire emergencies. Has a war broken out somewhere?!” someone with extensive knowledge suddenly exclaimed, their eyes widening in shock.
“I just saw faces that looked Eastern. And with my War General level cultivation, just a single glance from one of them made my heart feel like I was facing a primordial beast. If nothing unexpected happens, they are basically peak powerhouses.”
Following him, another person, dressed rather opulently, resembling the owner of a large hotel, suddenly spoke up, expressing a hint of disbelief mixed with profound shock in their eyes.
On the leading silver-white streak, a young girl in Hanfu stood atop its head, her body enveloped in a shield of blood-red external qi that deflected the fierce wind. She was continuously using her phone, her gaze fixed worriedly on the map above.
“Their shield should hold until around 3 PM today. We’ve already arrived at the western coast of Eagle Country, not far from Texas…”
Glancing again at the recently risen sun, Su Jiu began to mutter words of self-consolation. Last night, Youyou had sent the latest news, reportedly using some illegal means to obtain the current situation of the Silly Duke.
She then patted E Huo’s head, urging it to slow down. A few moments later, she fell into line with Mo Ling and the others at the front. Under Mo Ling’s unwavering gaze, she slowly said, “We’ll be reaching the urban area of Eagle Country soon. We need to show our identification and motives to those people, otherwise, it might lead to unnecessary disputes.”
None of them had obtained visas, and they were traveling under the guise of a “self-driving tour.” If they were caught by the Eagle Country authorities as illegal immigrants, it would be problematic. After all, many Dragon Country people had illegally entered Eagle Country this way over the years.
“That’s true, but actions taken with the purpose of rescuing non-combatant casualties of international conflicts are generally permitted among United Nations member states. This is stipulated in the UN Charter.” Unlike Su Jiu’s inexperience, Mo Ling, as a Battle King Level Night Watcher, possessed other official副职业 (subsidiary professions) and frequently dealt with such regulations, so she was not unfamiliar with them.
“Is there such a thing?” Su Jiu was slightly taken aback, then quickly looked towards the imposing city entrance ahead, and waved with a smile, “We’ve arrived. Let’s go down and register first.”
Indeed, as Mo Ling had said, the city’s gatekeeper was very accommodating. Upon learning their purpose, he simply uploaded their information and let them pass, even offering them some local fruits with great enthusiasm.
Seconds ticked by, and as they traveled on E Huo, Su Jiu and the others drew closer to Texas. If nothing unexpected happened, they should be able to reach it before the protective shield’s energy was depleted.
…
United States, Henry Residence, 11:36 AM.
Wend sat on the sofa, his expression somewhat unnatural. A cloaked figure was kneeling before him in the hall. He stared intently at the cloaked figure reporting to him and asked with a frown, “You mean to say there’s a team coming directly from Dragon Country with Texas as their target?”
Hearing his young master speak, the cloaked figure dared not delay and quickly clasped his hands, saying in a low voice, “To be precise, their target is to rescue the trapped teachers and students in Wyvern Valley. Their information has been reported; it was discovered by our internal personnel.”
“Rescuing trapped teachers and students? Flying directly to Texas from so far away in Dragon Country? Who has such powerful backing? Is it Teacher Vivian…” Wend softly murmured, falling into deep thought. His mind involuntarily conjured a name, but he quickly reached a conclusion.
“No, it couldn’t be her. She even went to beg the school board members earlier, and I instructed them to postpone their decision.”
“No matter who it is, I absolutely cannot let that team reach Wyvern Valley! If Teacher Vivian is rescued, my Duke-level Blood Clan bloodline will be completely lost.”
Reaching this conclusion, Wend squinted at the screen, muttering to himself. Suddenly, he stood up and looked at the cloaked figure, asking indifferently, “How many Battle King Level individuals do we have in Eagle Country?”
The cloaked figure was slightly taken aback, guessing his master’s intention. He quickly clasped his hands and replied, “Reporting to my young master, there are a total of three Battle King powerhouses, and one of them has reached High-Rank Battle King, which is the second master, William. They are all lurking near Wyvern Valley with our family members.”
“For Vivian’s life-blood contract, even if she refuses, after the protective shield is broken, we will forcibly abduct her. That’s why your uncle was placed there.”
Upon hearing that his uncle was there, Wend showed a faint smile, as if victory was in his grasp. His eyes narrowed slightly as he softly instructed, “Have Uncle William warn those uninvited Dragon Country people. If necessary…”
“Kill them all directly! Even if they’re here for a rescue, the most they’ll have is an Intermediate Battle King.”
A trace of cunning flashed in his eyes as Wend made a throat-slitting gesture, his gaze then shifting to the cloaked figure.
Merely glancing at Wend, the cloaked figure trembled slightly and quickly lowered his head, responding, “I will go and tell Master William. Young master, rest assured, Master William cherishes you the most. He will definitely handle this matter perfectly this time.”
…
13:56, located on a plateau not far from Wyvern, Texas.
“Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!”
In the vast, boundless azure sky, the sound of wind breaking suddenly echoed, approaching rapidly. Within moments, dozens of figures appeared on a barren, loess peak.
“Elder Jiu, the destination is just ahead. If there are no major problems, we should reach the center of the canyon within half an hour.”
Iron Bull, standing on the back of the eagle, held a positioning instrument exclusively for Night Watchers, his gaze scanning the surroundings. He then smiled at Su Jiu beside him.
Su Jiu nodded slightly, her gaze sweeping over the group. She couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe. Such a formidable lineup would be incredibly powerful anywhere else.
Yet, they were here solely to rescue one person. To others, it might seem like a waste of resources, but in her eyes, it was just right. The Silly Duke held an irreplaceable position in her heart.
Just as they paused, preparing to make a final push towards the canyon, Wendes noticed something. Su Jiu and the others simultaneously looked towards the sky ahead. Wendes said in a low voice, “There are people coming out of Wyvern Valley. They are armed and have locked onto us with their auras.”
With a slight sigh, Su Jiu’s gaze instantly sharpened. Their arrival was clearly hostile, likely from some of the school board families who, as Youyou had mentioned in her information, had deliberately assigned Vivian to the teaching mission in Wyvern Valley.
“Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh—”
Soon, over a dozen figures transformed into streams of light of different colors, appearing before Su Jiu and the others. They floated in the air, led by a burly man with a full beard, an English-style cowboy hat, and dressed in black leather pants and a jacket. The man sized up Su Jiu and asked in English, “Are you here to rescue the people inside?”
Gently nodding at E Huo, E Huo directly transformed into a long sword and hovered beside Su Jiu, following her every move. Su Jiu slowly took a step forward and replied in English, “Yes, if you are willing to help, I am willing to pay a certain price.”
“The people inside are none of your concern, people from the East. You can leave now.”
Upon hearing this, the cowboy strongman exchanged glances with the people around him and suddenly burst into loud laughter. The large swords in their hands glinted coldly in the sunlight as they casually waved towards Su Jiu and the others.
“Sir, we have someone inside that we need to rescue. Please let us pass…” Su Jiu casually scanned the group – a bunch of War Generals, an Initial Stage Battle King, and a High-Rank Battle King. She couldn’t understand why they dared to act so arrogantly.
A cold glint appeared in the cowboy strongman’s eyes. He glanced at the white-haired old man behind him, who had been watching with narrowed eyes. Once the old man opened his eyes and nodded, the Initial Stage Battle King aura emanating from him surged out like a tide, disdainfully saying, “Heh, don’t you understand what I’m saying? Take another step forward, and I’ll kill you all.”
“In international situations, what is usually done in circumstances like this?”
Without any further action, Su Jiu turned her head slightly and asked Mo Ling, who was wiping a dagger with the trim of her maid outfit. Mo Ling glanced at Su Jiu, flicked the dagger, and then revealed a rather dangerous smile, “In the wilderness, where are the international rules? I don’t know what to do either.”
“You yellow-skinned monkeys still haven’t gotten out of here after hearing that international law is useless in the wilderness!”
Hearing their conversation, the cowboy strongman burst into laughter again, ostentatiously flexing his sword a few times, creating flashing sword shadows that were quite powerful.
Receiving Mo Ling’s reply, Su Jiu pondered for a moment and then looked at the cowboy strongman again, her expressionless face uttering a single word that instantly ignited the atmosphere.
“Kill!”
