Chapter 461 Snow Night (3k)
The night breeze, accompanied by a bit of frost, blew through the snow forest. With the escort of Mr. Ludon and others, there were no monster obstructions along the way. They chatted and arrived at the entrance of the town of Lai Si.
After bidding farewell to everyone, they stopped at the entrance again and resumed their conversation.
“I can agree to what you said, but… I want to know how you discovered I wasn’t the Third Princess. Logically, someone not from the Royal Family would absolutely not be able to access such information.”
Su Jiu explained Bai Zhi’s situation to the snow demon named Aisha. After a long period of thought, Aisha leaped down from her mount, staring blankly at the town.
“Because I know Hannah. Her noble Young Lady’s personality, and she’s even taller. She definitely wouldn’t be like you…”
Watching Aisha’s actions, Su Jiu dismounted and followed her gaze towards the slightly bustling entrance of the small town. She said softly, with a hint of emotion, as if speaking subconsciously:
“And it feels different. You’re very Q-bouncy.”
What caught their eye was the scene of myriad lights. Many bonfires were set up, and adventurers were roasting monsters they hunted during the day. They were drinking and chatting around the bonfires, with a lively and prosperous scene unfolding in this frosty snow town.
Feeling the lively atmosphere, Su Jiu’s thoughts began to wander. Next, she planned to have this snow demon called Aisha use her frost control skill for Little Fool, which would allow him to successfully complete his trial.
“Feels? Q… Q-bouncy?”
Aisha had been nodding thoughtfully at first, but when she heard the latter part, she was slightly taken aback. She turned to look at Su Jiu, her light blue pupils showing a hint of confusion; she clearly didn’t understand what the latter’s term referred to.
“Feeling refers to personality. Your personality is quite playful and Q-bouncy, while hers is sort of soft and weak.”
Being looked at by Aisha, Su Jiu’s mouth twitched. She had accidentally let slip. In books, she had read certain descriptions, and the tactile sensation on her mount had made her subconsciously become a gourmet and start evaluating.
“Personality?”
After hearing Su Jiu’s evaluation, Aisha fell silent for a moment, then sighed. She looked at the town ahead and said softly, “The Third Princess is not soft and weak. In this war among the snow demons, as an heir, she has killed no less people than the Grand Prince. It’s just that she herself has been well protected. As for me…”
Saying this, she gave a wry smile and shook her head. She then turned and stared intently at Su Jiu, saying in a low voice, “I dare not be playful, nor do I have much freedom. Since childhood, I’ve been a tool for arranged marriages… or for someone else to use as a fake body to take their place.”
“Sigh…”
Su Jiu listened quietly, looking at the girl with blood on her face, feeling an indescribable mix of emotions. She wanted to offer comfort, but no comforting words came to mind.
“If you hadn’t rescued me, perhaps I would have been subjected to severe humiliation and execution by those Frost Ghosts, mistaken for the Third Princess.”
Aisha withdrew her gaze, then gave a faint smile. She clenched her fist slightly, took off the necklace from her neck, put it in her pocket, and said slowly, “But since I’m out now, I can’t be bothered to interfere in the affairs of the snow demon tribe.”
The shadow, dressed in a light blue dress, seemed somewhat radiant in the flickering lamplight, resembling a true princess.
“As long as you are willing to help me with this, I am willing to send you to the Dragon Country and give you a new identity.”
Su Jiu nodded. She could probably guess some of the girl’s identity, but since the other party didn’t reveal it, she would pretend not to know…
Anyone so proficient in the snow demon Royal Family and so knowledgeable about the Third Princess was likely a deadly warrior cultivated by the Royal Family or an important figure related to the Royal Family. However, judging by her strength and demeanor, Su Jiu leaned more towards the latter.
“Thank you.”
Upon hearing this, Aisha was first stunned, then looked at Su Jiu with gratitude. This Eastern girl who had saved her was as easy to talk to as her cute little face. Suddenly, she thought of something and changed the subject, smiling and asking, “The person you want to help is very important to you, right?”
Hearing this, Su Jiu was slightly stunned. Bai Zhi’s idiotic grin, like that of a husky, flashed through her mind. Her mouth couldn’t help but curve upwards. She was just about to say something.
“Hey! Why are you only back now?” Suddenly, a crisp voice broke Su Jiu’s train of thought.
Following the voice, Su Jiu casually glanced ahead and saw a figure wearing a white down jacket approaching them. She looked somewhat petite in the night, holding something like a bouquet of flowers.
“Who are you?”
Before Su Jiu could speak, Bai Zhi took a couple of steps forward, squinting as she sized up Aisha. Her gaze lingered on the latter’s pointed ears, and her tone softened. She repeated, “Are you a snow demon?”
Hearing Bai Zhi’s question, Aisha glanced at Su Jiu. Seeing that she made no other moves, she nodded.
“Here, have some.”
Seeing Aisha’s answer, Bai Zhi revealed a gentle smile, brought the rolled-up newspaper in her hand to her face, and took out three large skewers of grilled meat, handing them over.
Bewildered, Aisha accepted the large skewers of grilled meat, not knowing what to do. However, seeing Bai Zhi’s cultivation level, she quickly understood. She then gave a dry laugh and turned to ask Su Jiu, “Are you helping this young lady climb the mountain? Is she that important person to you?”
Bai Zhi also tilted her head, looking at Su Jiu, holding a large skewer of grilled meat, as if waiting for Su Jiu’s reply.
Looking at Bai Zhi, who was observing her like a little cat sniffing its owner’s scent, Su Jiu’s face showed a hint of helplessness. She nodded gently and chuckled, “It is indeed her, but… ‘important’ is a bit much.”
“You stinking flirt, I’m not important?!”
Hearing Su Jiu’s words, Bai Zhi’s eyes narrowed. Her eyes, sparkling with little flowers, showed a hint of ferocity. She slightly opened her small mouth, took out a large skewer, revealed her little tiger teeth, and bit down fiercely. For a moment, her face was covered in various spices and oil…
“You are quite heavy, considering how much you eat.”
Seeing the childlike warning, Su Jiu couldn’t help but laugh. She took out a pack of tissues from her pocket, tore off a sheet, and reached it to Bai Zhi’s mouth, wiping away the cumin powder and chili oil from the corners of her mouth.
The action was quite gentle, slowly sliding across her lips, which were like unripe plums, making Aisha beside them stunned. She suddenly had an illusion that the two of them didn’t look like sisters, but like lovers.
“Hmph!”
After getting her answer, Bai Zhi’s face immediately puffed up. She let out a soft hmph, and as Su Jiu wiped her mouth, her face turned slightly red. She then shoved the grilled meat wrapped in newspaper into Su Jiu’s other hand, muttering in a low voice, “It’s lucky I waited for you so late at night and bought your favorite sweet and sour grilled meat. You stinking flirt, you can’t say anything good!”
“Alright, alright… let’s go back to the inn first.”
Catching the grilled meat handed by Bai Zhi, Su Jiu was first stunned, then touched the aggrieved little flower fairy’s head with a smile that was both amused and helpless.
Bai Zhi pouted, nodded gently, and then tilted her head, pointing to a table not far away: “The real foodie is over there. She’s probably eaten food worth millions of rubles.”
“I gave her enough magic crystals as payment. This brat, she still wants to eat me poor, doesn’t she?”
Reaching Bai Zhi’s reminder, Su Jiu suddenly remembered that a certain hungry dragon was missing. Her face turned cold, and she instinctively reached for her waist, intending to untie the Seven Wolves. But realizing she was wearing a skirt, her mouth twitched, and her expression turned even colder.
“You guys go back first… I’m going to deal with a certain foodie.”
Carrying the grilled meat, she walked towards a place not far away where bones were piled up like a small mountain. She coughed lightly when she reached the small figure.
The next moment, their eyes met, and it was like maternal love and filial piety.
Yì èr lín sān liù cǜn èr: líng = qiàn qǐ sī > ) qiàn (bā)
Under the observation of the shop owner and many employees, Su Jiu pointed at the gnawed-clean white bones and asked indifferently, “You ate these?”
“Oh… bù xì èr huò qī dé.”
After a moment of silence, the hungry one blinked her eyes and buried her head again, devouring the small half of the roasted pig on the plate. Her little dragon horns were also faintly visible.
Looking at the actions before her, Su Jiu expressionlessly grabbed the hungry one by the back of her neck as she was feasting. Seeing the radiancy that was blocked by the meat stuffed in her mouth, she didn’t know how to complain in her heart.
“I told you to protect someone, and you ran off to feast by yourself?”
“Wǒ… bù shì è huò chī de!!”
Holding the pig leg and eating, the hungry one only then came to her senses and quickly shook her head, not noticing that her face was covered in meat scraps and various sauces.
Seemingly noticing Su Jiu’s arrival, the shop owner, a Bear Country Person, frowned and said sternly, “A total of 6.73 million rubles. Let’s round it down for you two. A total of 6.7 million for both of you… This young lady said her mother is very rich, so you won’t default, right?”
“It’s so embarrassing. We’re paying for it, there’s no need to pretend to be dumb.”
Feeling the unfriendly gazes from the surrounding owner and employees, Su Jiu’s mouth twitched. She quickly stepped forward to pay for the hungry one’s meal. Discovering that she didn’t have enough cash, she had to use magic crystals to pay.
After the owner confirmed that everything was in order, Su Jiu, like dragging a child, dragged the hungry one, who was holding several half-meter meat skewers, towards the inn where they had previously stayed.
…
In the inn, the two had returned home. Bai Zhi relit the stove and boiled some hot water.
After doing all this, she glanced at the slightly peeling sofa and lay down on it, covering herself with a small blanket. She stretched out her little feet to warm by the stove, and her whole body felt so comfortable that her bones seemed to melt.
“You and that young lady are lovers, right?”
Aisha, sitting on a wooden chair, glanced at Bai Zhi and suddenly said with a playful smile. She found Bai Zhi very strange; why wasn’t she on guard against her?
“Mm.”
Bai Zhi gave a soft nasal sound, still looking lazy. Feeling the warmth, her feet wiggled. Without her cultivation, even wearing shoes felt cold.
Seeing Bai Zhi’s indifferent attitude, Aisha raised an eyebrow and smiled, “Aren’t you afraid that I’ll steal her away? Because I’m so close to her?”
“She’s not an object, and she won’t be stolen by you.”
Still with half-closed eyes, Bai Zhi rubbed her hands under the blanket and tightened the scarf around her neck. Then she tilted her head and looked at Aisha with narrowed eyes, her lips curving slightly.
“Your staying here is the best proof.”
