Chapter 644: General Feng’s Saber, Snow’s Sword (Part 2)
The snow continued to fall densely, mixed with fallen cherry blossoms. The entire sky was a tapestry of grey and black. The yellow light erupting from the middle-aged man and Watanabe shined within the dark clouds, creating a spectacle of equal opposition.
Decades of seconds passed.
General Feng still stood in the sky above the high mountain, gripping the evil saber in his hand. A saber intent shot up into the heavens. Ghostly fires flickered in his eyes, yet he hadn’t attacked from above, as if he were wary of something.
“This person wearing red armor must be a monster, right? He should be with Master Yang Shen, why isn’t he making a move?”
“Yeah, what is he waiting for?”
Sharp-eyed individuals noticed this and voiced their doubts. At this moment, people from various organizations also noticed this, their gazes all turning towards him. Amidst their surprise, they accelerated the process of escorting these people away.
“Damn it! I shouldn’t have gotten involved in this mess.”
Lin Zi-mu, along with her bodyguards, was at the very front of the crowd. She was being pushed by the throng and couldn’t get out. She felt both anxious and afraid to fly up, fearing that General Feng in the sky would target her. She could only have her bodyguards slowly push their way through.
She even kept turning her head to look behind her, but she didn’t notice the torn parts of her clothing beginning to shine, connecting like threads, only to finally snap with a “crack.”
“After this, the local Onmyoji will probably be held accountable.”
On the mountainside, Xiao Shi Shan leaned against a figure. Endōzaka had firelight decorating his two fingers, and a thin cigarette burned, its smoke slowly rising in wisps on the hazy road.
“Is it snowing?”
Sensing something again, Endōzaka reached out. White snow slowly fell from mid-air, brushing across his palm with a slight chill.
“It’s time to leave… What is this?”
Just as he was about to get up, he suddenly felt something. His pupils constricted, and he abruptly looked down, only to find a small cut on his palm. After a moment of stunned silence, he exhaled a puff of smoke and murmured:
“She’s not Natsu Yama…”
The figure drawing her sword gradually became clearer in his mind. The Shrine Maiden’s words and the image of the peerless swordsman overlapped. Looking up again, he saw a fierce sword energy shooting from the mountain peak towards the sky.
Just then, the wind and snow in the air seemed to become more intense, blowing with a roaring sound, as if gathering strength.
Immediately after, from the mountaintop, from below upwards, several massive silver-white slashes were heard. The slashes were a hundred zhang long, like a crescent moon drawn from the earth, yet as swift as swallows, piercing straight through General Feng’s body, even breaking through a large swathe of the black clouds.
As sunlight scattered again, the grey diminished, and the situation in the sky became clearer.
General Feng let out a muffled groan, and the red armor also shattered. Within seconds, fragments of armor fell from his body, scattering with the wind in the sky, and his aura even weakened slightly.
The invincible Feng had been injured by a sword!
“Someone is fighting with this General Feng? And seems to have wounded him…”
Everyone within a close distance saw these sword energies. While feeling astonished, they all stopped in their tracks and looked up at the sky, which had become considerably clearer. The fear they felt seemed to have been dispelled significantly.
After all, the source of fear was the unknown and the inability to resist.
“Heh heh, it’s useless.”
Just as everyone was speculating, General Feng’s cold laughter once again echoed throughout the sky. A chain of grey energy erupted from the temple at the mountain’s summit below. The previously damaged armor seemed to be reforged, beginning to recover.
“Can he regenerate?”
“Bang!”
Just as the crowd began to stir again, a sound of breaking through the air echoed from the sky. A figure shot up into the heavens. The Shrine Maiden’s long skirt on the figure tore in the wind, and her black hair was straightened into a single line.
“The Swordsman is that sacrificed Shrine Maiden?!”
As the crowd below saw the Swordsman’s attire, they were completely stunned. Many seemed to disbelieve. They had personally witnessed that kind of Shrine Maiden causing such a commotion in recent days, like a final desperate struggle before death.
How could this be someone who could contend with General Feng?
But the reality lay before them. Endōzaka looked up, watching the four people fighting in the sky. Feeling the oppressive aura impacting him, a sense of existential insignificance suddenly arose.
“Shun!”
With a flash of white light, she appeared behind General Feng. The three-foot-long sword in her hand swung out, its fierce energy generating sharp sonic booms that tore through the air, hacking ferociously at General Feng’s head.
Su Jiu’s strange speed made the ghostly fires in General Feng’s eyes involuntarily flicker. Although their strength was evenly matched, the skills on his body were truly unpredictable.
A more potent evil aura surged onto the blade. General Feng’s body flickered, and with a hiss, red light flashed. He actually surged forward.
“Clang!”
His foot stomped down onto the blade of Su Jiu’s sword. In the collision, the sword was cut off. The broad saber in his hand swung down from the sky, resembling the Niten Ichi-ryū style.
Relying on the regeneration provided by the formation, Feng completely disregarded the injuries Su Jiu inflicted on him, opting for the most direct approach of trading blows for blows.
Su Jiu’s eyes trembled. She directly let go of the Dragon Pattern Long Sword, pulling out the Loquat Branch from her waist with her left hand to meet the incoming attack. With a “clang,” she was knocked back several steps by the immense force, almost being flipped over. She coughed slightly, a faint smile curving her lips:
“Seven more seconds…”
She couldn’t activate her third-gear burst mode yet. The side effects of bursting were significant and the duration was short. Using skills almost exponentially consumed energy.
“Heh heh, I have an endless supply of energy flowing in. Swordsman, you were already slightly inferior, and from now on you will be even less of a match for me.”
Feng sneered, continuing to repair his damaged leg with the energy transmitted from the formation, and spoke calmly.
“You are indeed stronger than me, but your formation is about to be destroyed. Aren’t you going to worry about it?”
Nodding, Su Jiu did not deny the other’s strength. She reached out and grabbed E Huo again, her gaze fixed on him. A thin layer of armor began to surge on her chest, and the color scheme of the armor bore some resemblance to the mask.
“Since I was confident in fighting you, I naturally knew that with your strength, you couldn’t break this double-layered formation from the outside. Only Ibaraki could place the Magic Crystal inside. That was set up by the [Dragon King]…”
Just as Feng was about to retort, he suddenly felt the energy flowing through him become intermittent. He looked down abruptly, and the ghostly fires in his eyes flickered wildly.
He sensed a surge of heat moving towards the formation. There was a problem within the formation. Ibaraki had been deeply immersed in the [Dragon King]’s formation for years, so she could borrow its strength, but she could only borrow strength to resist external forces!
This was an internal disturbance caused by something violent!
“Only Ibaraki is imprisoned inside. What did she encounter?”
A hint of confusion flashed in Feng’s eyes, but before he could ponder any further, he vaguely heard a light whisper of “Fine Snow” carried on the howling cold wind. Eight sword energies laced with wind and snow sliced through the air. These sword energies were even more powerful and considerably faster than before!
