Chapter 716 Lucas Weir (3k)
The spring mist carried a hint of coldness, but amidst the promotions for opera and circus performances, and the surging crowds, even the smiling pumpkin heads by the roadside seemed to possess a bit of vitality.
The white tablecloth fingers, crouched on the trash can by the roadside, leaped and moved, occasionally emitting melodious songs, as if they were peculiar creations unique to this city center.
“The scale here feels even crazier than Magic City, the production value is truly top-notch.”
The young girl, wearing the hood of her sweatshirt, walked through the bustling street, her gaze sweeping ahead. Headlights converged into a river of colorful light, flowing between the streets.
The city center streets were a cacophony of various sounds, a gentle noise that hung over the urban area like clouds, making one involuntarily yearn for foreign performances.
“This amusement park is really hard to find, it’s not marked on the map, and taking a taxi would be even slower…”
The girl looked up at the sky further away. The towering buildings obscured her eyes, making her unable to find her direction. After looking around, she found a woman with a child, took off her hat, and softly asked:
“Excuse me, do you know how to get to the amusement park called [Dreamland Amusement Park]?”
“There’s no amusement park called [Dreamland Amusement Park] here. If you want to go to an amusement park, you can go to Lingxi Street…”
The middle-aged woman wearing red-rimmed glasses glanced at Su Jiu’s attire, frowned, and directly waved her hand before grabbing the child and preparing to leave.
Hearing this, Su Jiu was stunned. A place not called [Dreamland Amusement Park]? Was the Mayor’s Daughter deliberately playing a trick on her?
Just as Su Jiu was about to take out her phone to call Li Xiao, and question the Mayor’s Daughter about the situation, suddenly, from ahead, the child’s voice came:
“Miss, are you looking for something called Dreamland Theater?”
“Dreamland Theater?” Su Jiu looked up, her gaze falling on the child, who was full of anticipation.
“Yes, the little animal circus will be performing there tomorrow! My mom won’t let me go, she says I’ll learn bad habits…”
“Have you finished your Coagulated Blood training? And you’re going to watch a circus?”
The excitement on the child’s face intensified, but seeing his sullen mother, he quickly ducked his head and explained to her, “I’m done.”
The two continued walking, and their mother’s voice could still be heard in the distance: “Don’t talk to strangers casually, there are poachers around, be careful they steal you!”
Looking at their receding figures, Su Jiu shook her head. After typing “opera house” into her phone, it indeed showed a result, and it wasn’t too far away.
Since she was traveling alone and knew her destination, Su Jiu turned a corner into the shadows and, with a “bang!”, transformed into a crimson-gold butterfly, flying towards the Dreamland Theater…
“Is this the theater?”
Gliding past streaks of light below, Su Jiu transformed back into human form and then stopped on the balcony of a fifth-floor apartment, looking at the giant curtain ahead with some surprise.
Behind the curtain was a special viewing platform – the Ghost Ferris Wheel. The Ferris Wheel emitted a faint ghostly fire, seemingly provided by some kind of soul-type Monster. At the higher points, Gugu Birds occasionally spread their wings and flew, creating a wonderfully magical atmosphere.
“Is this the meaning of dreams?”
A hint of shock appeared in the young girl’s eyes as she looked at the towering Ferris Wheel. Although it was called [Lin Wu Opera House], it gave the illusion of being an amusement park.
“The highest point… the top of the Ferris Wheel.”
Su Jiu came back to her senses, roughly understanding where the highest point was. Her gaze fell upon the Ferris Wheel, and then with a “bang!”, she exerted force with her feet, her figure flickering in place as she soared towards the top of the Ferris Wheel.
As she flew past the ghostly fires, she could see many eyes watching her. There were ordinary white ghosts, as well as carrion crows with red glints in their eyes, but they all remarkably kept their gaze fixed, without any signs of panic.
“Why would they choose a place like this? Could they actually like me?”
With almost no difficulty, half a minute later, Su Jiu’s feet landed on the support of the Ferris Wheel, and she charged towards the top at an almost ninety-degree angle.
“Crack!”
Her gaze fell on the Ferris Wheel cabin at the top. Su Jiu reached out and grabbed the doorway, then walked inside. She saw a smiling face quietly watching her, golden hair swaying in the wind.
On the table were a candle, two empty wine glasses, and a rather inexpensive brand of kangaroo wine.
“You really came, Miss Su.”
Liu Qian rested one hand on her chin, her exquisite makeup highlighting a pair of coffee-colored eyes. After smiling, she gently closed her eyes and snapped her fingers.
The candle was instantly ignited! A faint blue flame illuminated
“You must have had a tiring journey. Have some wine and chat.”
Su Jiu could feel that her voice was still as gentle as a late-night lullaby, evoking no ill feelings.
As her finger snap sounded, “Bang!”, two severed hands suddenly appeared on the table. An eye was embedded in the back of each hand, and they walked across the tabletop, “pop” and opening the wine bottles for the two.
Then, they poured wine into two glasses each. The wine, illuminated by the blue flame, shimmered with specks of starlight, like a reversed galaxy, particularly alluring.
“Miss Liu, you should explain why you’re keeping Angels, shouldn’t you?”
Su Jiu’s gaze fell on the wine on the table, feeling a bit surprised that this Mayor’s Daughter seemed somewhat different, but she couldn’t pinpoint the source of this feeling.
“Have a sip first, and then I’ll tell you.”
Picking up the wine glass closest to her, Liu Qian slightly opened her eyes. Her blue-green eyes looked over, as mysterious and elegant as cat’s eye stones hanging under the moonlight.
“Have a sip?”
Upon hearing this, Su Jiu shifted her gaze away from Liu Qian’s attention. Following the faint blue candlelight, her eyes slid to the wine in the glass. Her throat couldn’t help but gulp. Was this something drinkable?
But she still obediently sat down. The faint blue candlelight illuminated the two of them, creating an inexplicable atmosphere. Su Jiu spoke again:
“Can you tell me why?”
“When Miss Su drinks it, I’ll tell you again.”
Liu Qian stated clearly, her gaze falling on the wine glass in front of Su Jiu, her eyes meeting Su Jiu’s again, a gentle smile always on her face.
“Heh heh… Miss Liu, I know an editor at an international newspaper. You wouldn’t want this matter to be exposed, would you?”
Su Jiu chuckled, but she never picked up the wine glass. The more Liu Qian urged her to drink, the more she understood that there was likely something wrong with the wine.
“Are you afraid the wine is poisoned? I’ll taste it for you…”
Facing Su Jiu’s threat, Liu Qian showed no concern at all. Instead, she took a small sip of the wine in her hand, then released it, and pushed the wine glass towards Su Jiu, lightly chuckling.
“Are you reassured now?”
“…”
Su Jiu looked at the wine glass pushed towards her. Her gaze swept over it, and she noticed a slightly dark red lipstick mark on the rim of the glass, giving off the scent of a poisoned apple.
She licked her lips, looked up at the blonde girl supporting her chin, and said softly, “Are you really not afraid that I’ll report this to a newspaper?”
“Afraid? Do you have any proof?”
Seeing Su Jiu still hesitant to drink, Liu Qian parted her lips slightly, a wisp of wine aroma escaping. She then blew gently forward.
“If you don’t drink, you’re rejecting my invitation, and you won’t know anything.”
“I’ll drink.”
Hearing this, Su Jiu’s eyes slightly lowered. She gently patted the gourd at her waist, then took the wine glass with the lipstick mark and drank it down in one gulp.
Cool and refreshing, with a very faint, slightly bitter wine taste. It contained no herbal ingredients of any rank, just simple homemade wine.
But why was the candlelight in front of her getting brighter and brighter?
Her vision seemed to blur again…
“Feng.”
Su Jiu shook her head. A surge of intoxication rushed to her head, her eyes blurring further. The gourd seemed not to hear her voice, remaining still.
Damn it! She’d really overdone it this time. The resistance within her body wasn’t working.
At that moment, a clear voice reached her ears:
“Eternal life has always been an unavoidable topic. The moment a Witch touches the key to longevity, that desire is released like a demon from Pandora’s Box. No one can easily resist the temptation, including you, me, and that Elf young lady, who is the so-called elixir of life’s catalyst. As long as you don’t reveal it, I’m willing to share it with you…”
Clutching her head, Su Jiu saw two Liu Qians, then three. In her slightly confused state, she whispered, “What did you do to me?”
“Dream Sea Grape Brew. Just close your eyes and enjoy it, Miss Blood Clan.”
Liu Qian’s voice sounded again. At this time, the other party seemed to have arrived behind Su Jiu and was gently stroking her pointed ears. Her icy fingertips slid across Su Jiu’s cheek, slowly moving to her fair neck…
The movements were very gentle, as if appreciating a work of art.
“I know you like women in your heart. If possible, I’d be willing to marry you and guard this secret together…”
The gentle voice sounded again. Su Jiu felt her hands losing strength. She tried to communicate with the E Huo in her spiritual space, but there was no response.
“Stop struggling. You just need to be honest about your feelings.” The female voice sounded again, showing remarkable patience.
Hearing the heavy breaths beside her ear, Su Jiu simply closed her eyes, refraining from using her spiritual perception, and began to consider Liu Qian’s question. After a moment of silence, she said, “I promise you. Can you let me out first?”
Elegy, activate!
Level one…
Suddenly, she felt a piece of paper in her hand. Then, a chuckle sounded in her ear:
“Sign this contract, and once it takes effect, we’ll share this secret. After this year, we’ll refine the elixir of life with her heart, increasing our strength and achieving longevity…”
Signing the contract meant being completely bound by its terms; otherwise, there would be severe backlash.
“This request is quite beautiful.”
Hearing this, Su Jiu was taken aback, then nodded. With her eyes lowered, she reached out and touched the contract paper. After a pause, a wisp of flame emerged from her fingertips, burning it…
Elegy level two!
“But I’m sorry, Miss Liu, I don’t need to make such a choice.”
Wielding the external qi amplification brought by Elegy, Su Jiu closed her eyes and lunged backward. However, she lunged into empty air. Startled, she quickly swung her fist in another direction, but it was like swinging at nothing.
Her eyes felt as if they were glued with super glue. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t open them. A feeling of exhaustion flooded Su Jiu’s brain.
“Don’t disturb her. Let her sleep. This wine is very expensive.”
A gentle voice sounded from a greater distance, with a hint of childishness, seemingly different from the previous tone. As the voice grew more ethereal, only the woman’s self-murmurs could be heard –
“Heh heh, our Miss Witch has woken up, but the Knight has fallen into a deep sleep. How interesting.”
