Helios Orb Chronicle – Chapter 173

Ice Mist Explosion, which I used for the first time in actual combat, can be said to be complete.

The reason I made Ice Mist Explosion, a genderless S-class non-elemental spell, into Engraving Magic instead of a Unique Magic was because it was a spell I had thought of even before coming to Helios Orb.

Engraving Magic can be activated immediately if you have an engraving tool or magical tool, but A-rank and S-rank spells can only be activated with an engraving magical tool.

It’s not impossible, but it would break the engraving tool, so I would never do that.

Ice Mist Explosion was designed to maximize my “Sky” attribute, incorporating wide-area, exploration, interference, and although I’m not good at it, support-type elements. It can also be targeted.

The outline of Ice Mist Explosion is to freeze the surrounding air and bodily fluids with the mist generated by ice particles, and then attack with a blast of compressed air and fluid. However, the future challenge is that if used incorrectly, it could also cause damage to myself.

It was originally developed assuming I would be fighting against multiple opponents, but I discovered that it could also be effective against large opponents like Dragoons as long as they were wounded, which was a significant discovery.

“Is everyone okay?”
“Y-yes… somehow…”

Some time after collecting the Gold Dragoon’s corpse, Mana, Mina, Flam, Lydia, Ludia, and Athena descended from the Beast Carriage, but they still looked pale.

“I never thought the Gold Dragoon’s roar would paralyze my body…”
“I think it’s more accurate to say we were petrified rather than paralyzed.”

Paralyzed and shrunken.
I hadn’t expected the Gold Dragoon’s roar to have a paralyzing effect, but when I thought about it, it was a common trope in games and settings for dragon roars to cause paralysis or panic, so I should have considered it.

“I guess I should have figured that out with a little thought. My apologies.”
“No, it’s our fault. We’re sorry we couldn’t do anything…”
“That happens. But M-rank Dragoons were unaffected, so it’s likely that the roars of A-rank or higher Dark-attribute Dragoons have the effect of paralyzing or shrinking the body.”
“Yeah. I think it’s probably a magical effect, so there should be some way to deal with it. Though, if possible, I’d rather never encounter one again.”

Mana gave a wry smile, and Mina and Lydia agreed, but it probably wouldn’t be that simple.
If it’s a magical effect, it’s likely a mental interference magic, so if we have the new Armor Coat made with magic that can resist it, we should be able to withstand it, even if not completely.

“So, what about the Labyrinth Core?”
“It appeared after we stored the Gold Dragoon’s corpse.”

Where the Gold Dragoon’s corpse had been, an altar had appeared.
On this altar, a large object resembling a magic stone was placed. This must be the Labyrinth Core.
However, to my surprise, the Labyrinth Core could not be stored in the storage.
I thought it was a capacity limit, but Prim couldn’t store it either.

“Ah, that’s right. Labyrinth Cores cannot be stored in storage. That’s why labyrinths are said to be living beings.”

Mana told me, and indeed, there is a theory that labyrinths are living beings.
Up until now, I had a lingering doubt, but since living beings cannot be stored in storage, I understand it now.

“It’s smaller than I expected.”
“It is. I thought it would be larger.”

I strongly agreed with Athena and Flam’s opinions.
After all, the Labyrinth Core was only about the size of a basketball.
However, considering that it cannot be stored but can be recovered, this size might be appropriate.

“Questing. The results from the Solpre Labyrinth are…”

“That’s a total of 153 monsters.”

Flam checked with Questing, and the number was larger than I thought.
Especially Dragoons, including Lesser Dragoons, there were 41 of them.

“We hunted more than I expected.”
“Yeah.”

We hunted at least three of each attribute of Dragoon, and we also took down the Disaster Dragoon and the Gold Dragoon, so I think we have a sufficient number.

“I want to use them soon, but I don’t know how long it will take to dismantle them, so it will have to wait until we get back to Feel.”
“It’s regrettable, but it can’t be helped.”

Marina and Fiana looked disappointed, but there was nothing they could do.
Ed, Marina, and Fiana could probably do the dismantling, but Dragoons are over 20 meters tall, so even in a Safe Area, it would be difficult.
Therefore, the new equipment will have to be made after we return to Feel.
The hides of the Disaster Dragoon and Gold Dragoon, which are scheduled to be presented to Emperor Reinhardt and his court, will also be processed then.
After dismantling, we will go to Float, but we cannot afford to cut corners for the King and Queen’s armor.

“I can’t get involved in that. However, Prim is the top priority.”

Ed spoke up, but the new Armor Coat is being prioritized for Prim.
I have the Arc Order’s Coat, so I can use it if necessary, but Prim doesn’t, so her priority is higher than mine.

“I’ve been saying this for a while, and I think so too, but what are we going to do with the materials?”
“Fire and Wind are confirmed, but I can’t bear to discard the other attributes. Especially Light and Dark.”

The new Armor Coats will be made with the most suitable attribute as the base, and then leather from other necessary attributes will be added.
Prim has an aptitude for fire magic, and her evolution to High Class gained wind magic, and her evolution to Ancient Class expanded her aptitude to lightning magic, so these three attributes are confirmed. However, in order to increase resistance to mental interference magic, we will also use Light or Dark Dragoons.
So, not only Prim but everyone is agonizing over it, but I’m thinking it might be better to just make it all-attribute.

“Also, since there’s a coat, an undergarment, a skirt or trousers, gauntlets, and greaves, why not make each one with a different attribute?”
“So, for example, in my case, the coat would be fire, the skirt wind, and the undergarment lightning?”
“No, the coat would be fire and wind, the undergarment light and earth, the skirt lightning and darkness, the gauntlets water, and the greaves ice. That way, we can use materials of all attributes and none will be wasted.”

That was Marina’s idea. But indeed, it feels better to do that than to put all the attributes on just the coat.
The Wing Crest has 20 members at present, and even if we make armor for all of them, perhaps 2 or 3 Dragoons would be enough.

“That’s not a bad idea, but wouldn’t that create a bias in attributes? Shouldn’t the coat at least use all attributes?”
“It also depends on the compatibility with the magic we’ll enchant. While the base should be as you say, we should also use materials that are compatible.”

Fina and Flam added to Marina’s proposal.
Fina’s main profession is a woodworker, but she has been helping Marina frequently lately, so her skills as a tailor have improved. Flam is considering registering as a crafter as a tailor or seamstress and is studying, so she can come up with such suggestions.

“It’s a headache, but I guess we’ll have to decide that once we actually start making them.”
“I think that’s for the best. Fortunately, we have plenty of materials, and it will be helpful for us if Marina is satisfied.”

Ultimately, it’s up to Marina, the tailor, to decide, but we have plenty of Dragoon materials, so we have room to make a few prototypes.
Since we’ll be wearing them for a long time, I’d like them to thoroughly test them.

“Got it. However, at least one of each attribute of Dragoon must be dismantled before we can even make a prototype, so I don’t know how long it will take to complete them?”
“That can’t be helped. But even the prototypes will be made of M-rank materials, so until they are finished, I’ll wear the prototypes.”

Ah, indeed, even to make a prototype, it will take time to dismantle and then tan the leather, so it’s hard to say how long the testing will take.
However, Prim is asking to have the prototypes lent to her.
Certainly, since they are M-rank materials, not only their defensive power but also their magic transfer rate will improve. Most importantly, Prim’s current Crest Armor Coat is no longer able to withstand her magic, so that would be better.

“Understood. Then I’ll make the prototypes for Prim. We’ll likely dismantle Fire and Wind attribute Dragoons first and use them.”
“Yes, please do.”

That’s about it for the production of the new Armor Coat.
After that, let’s check everyone’s levels and then head out.
Especially for Prim’s level, I’ll need to use the excuse I prepared.

Thus, here are our licenses after clearing the labyrinth.

Everyone’s levels have increased significantly.
Prim, who was a concern, is at level 73, which is lower than I expected.
This is likely because she barely fought until we came to the 7th Level.
It’s a shame about Mana and Rika, and Eos.
Mana is level 60, and if she had tried a little harder, she would have reached 61 and become a P-rank Hunter.
Eos, at level 58, was also very close for the same reason as Mana.
I was hoping Rika, at level 41, would evolve.
However, if a tanned Dark Elf evolves into a High Elf, her skin color would turn white, drastically changing her appearance, which I find a bit of a shame.
Mina will be promoted to G-rank upon reaching level 52. Since she was originally B-rank, this is a two-rank promotion at once, and her Order’s Rank can also be promoted.
Well, except for me and Eos, everyone else in the Hunter ranks will be promoted.
Raus is 14 years old today, as it’s his birthday.
Let’s celebrate it grandly when we return to Dragunia.
Marisa is level 39, so she will likely evolve soon.
Surprisingly, Marina has also reached level 37, so she will probably evolve if we take her hunting a few times.
Evolving into High Class not only increases the number of suitable attributes but also grants Bestowed Magic. Marina, who wants to enchant magic, understands the desire to evolve.
However, everyone in Normal Class might experience acute magic fluctuation syndrome, so I’ll have to have them rest for a while.

Next is everyone’s rank-up. Prim’s level is not public, so unfortunately, the others will have to wait until we get to Float.
Or, since Eos and I aren’t ranking up, Prim just needs to not process it until we get to Float or Feel?
Well, we can think about that by the time we reach Dragunia.
