I finished touring the main building of Memoria General Academy after enrolling.
It’s pretty much the same as a school in Japan, and all the classrooms are identical, so the tour ended quickly.
The first floor has the Headmaster’s office, faculty rooms, and overnight rooms, but students don’t basically use them, so I just gave them a brief tour.
However, the Guild Building is where each guild puts in effort, and the princes and princesses were very interested in the building of the guild they would register with.
Furthermore, when the MARS demonstration was held at the Coliseum attached to the Scholar Building, Aspiring Hunter H.R.H. David and H.R.H. Aurora even said they wanted to try it themselves.
Since their personal belongings were in a Storage Bag, and their Arms and Armor were too, I ended up giving in to their persistence and letting them experience it.
“Th-there was nothing I could do…”
“My Life Bar disappeared in one hit…”
H.R.H. David is level 15, so he managed to defeat the I-N rank Goblin, but when facing a C-U rank Hob Goblin, he tried a little resistance but was judged as defeated.
H.R.H. Aurora, perhaps because she had gone hunting with Prim and Rebecca before, is level 26.
Therefore, she easily defeated the Hob Goblin and barely won against the B-R rank Redcap Goblin, but she was completely outmatched by the S-I rank Goblin Prince.
Winning against the Redcap Goblin was amazing, but from my perspective, it was largely due to luck, so I don’t think she could win again if she tried.
Both of them are quite dejected, possibly because the opponent was a Goblin, but even so, it’s natural to get this result when the opponent is a Catastrophe Species.
“If this were real combat, your lives would have been taken. If you can defeat them, even by chance, like H.R.H. Aurora did earlier, that’s fine. But against high-rank monsters, such things cannot be expected. If you’re lucky, you might escape, but one hit and it’s over, so in reality, it’s almost impossible.”
“Yes…”
“I understand that deeply…”
I had them fight the Goblin Prince together, but I thought they would have put up more of a fight, even if it were a Catastrophe Species, since it was only S-rank.
However, when it came down to it, they couldn’t keep up with the Goblin Prince’s movements and were defeated in one hit, so they’ve probably lost their confidence.
While it can now be defeated by a few High Class individuals, it used to require dozens of people, and even then, deaths were unavoidable. So, as harsh as it may sound, there’s no way two Normal Class individuals could put up a good fight.
“Once you’ve engaged, in most cases, you won’t even be able to escape. Therefore, you must accurately identify the name and rank of the monster you’re engaging, or you’ll drag not only yourself but also your companions into danger. This applies not only to Hunters and Ritters who undertake subjugations but also to other Guild Registers. That is precisely why combat training classes are held for all departments.”
On the roads, you’ll encounter monsters from I-rank to C-rank, and occasionally S-rank, but you’ll rarely encounter Catastrophe Species.
However, it’s not entirely impossible, so I believe everyone should know the species and ranks of monsters.
If you engage them without knowing, and realize during the fight that you can’t win, escaping is almost impossible.
Even if you manage to escape, someone will inevitably become a sacrifice, and there’s a possibility of the Raid disbanding or the request failing.
When I told them this, the princes and princesses turned pale but nodded solemnly.
Because they are of Royal Family, they have many opportunities to travel on roads, and the Magic Stones used this time were Goblin-type, so they inhabit their own countries normally.
That’s probably why they felt the threat.
“This time, I prepared illusions of the Goblin species because I thought it would be easier to understand if they were the same type of monster. However, in the actual classes, we probably won’t even use a Redcap Goblin, let alone a Goblin Prince.”
Catastrophe Species are monsters one rank higher, and Disaster Species are two ranks higher.
Furthermore, S-rank monsters were sometimes avoided even by High Class individuals in the past, so students around level 30, like H.R.H. Aurora, would likely only be able to handle up to S-N rank.
“Um… what would happen if Lord Yamato fought…?”
“Ah, I want to see that too!”
“Please show us the power of the Helios Orb’s first Element Class!”
However, at this point, I received a request to use MARS.
And the one who suggested it was none other than the reclusive princess, H.R.H. Nebrina.
H.R.H. Raio and H.R.H. Diana even agreed, and the others also had sparkling eyes filled with anticipation.
“I guess I can’t refuse this.”
“Indeed. Let’s respond to your request then.”
I had no choice but to say that, as I couldn’t refuse. The princes and princesses were overjoyed.
“Ah, Mako, I’ll leave the choice of Magic Stone to you.”
“Understood. I’ll pick about three suitable ones.”
With a wry smile, I used Ee-quipping and descended into the Coliseum wearing my special overcoat and visor.
The incoming students, except for Raus and the others, are all Normal Class, so the material for the overcoat is Royal Silk Cloth.
However, I can’t use the thread from Royal Silk Cloth, which is harvested from the G-U rank Monster Silkest Crawler.
Therefore, I had no choice but to use the Royal Silk Cloth from the M-I rank Monster Royal Crawler and tailor it exclusively for myself.
Raus and the others are the same; they have already stored their overcoats made with Royal Silk Cloth in their respective Storage or Storage Bags.
“Alright, for the first monster, here I go!”
At Mako’s signal, the generated illusion was a Goblin Prince.
Wait, isn’t that the same one that just beat up H.R.H. David and H.R.H. Aurora?
Why did she pick that?
“Please watch carefully. Attacks from S-I rank monsters, for example, are ineffective against Element Class.”
“R-really!?”
“Th-then, Lord Yamato… you’ll deliberately take the attacks!?”
Mako even told me not to dodge the Goblin Prince’s attacks.
Seriously?
“If you just defeat them, you won’t understand how capable the Element Class truly is. In fact, the Element Class has incredible defensive power, not just offensive power. If you look at the Life Bars here, you’ll understand.”
Ah, so that’s the intention.
Indeed, I’m confident I could kill a Goblin Prince with my bare hands, but even an Ancient Class could probably handle it if they tried. It’s the same with defense; even Ancient Class can’t be harmed by a Goblin Prince’s attacks, but the amount of Mana required for Mana Ring, a magic power enhancement spell, is less for Element Class. I guess they want to see that first.
Alright, I’ll focus on defense for a while.
“N-no way…”
“The Life Bar… it’s not decreasing at all?”
“The attack is hitting, right?”
“Y-yes…”
The princes and princesses are surprised, but the Goblin Prince’s attacks are definitely hitting me. However, my Life Bar hasn’t decreased by even one millimeter. In other words, I’m taking no damage. It’s understandable that they’re surprised, as H.R.H. David and H.R.H. Aurora, who are Normal Class, had their Life Bars reduced to zero in one hit.
“As you can see, even an S-rank Catastrophe Species cannot leave a single scratch. While it is possible for Ancient Class to do so, they must use a lot of Mana, and their total Mana capacity cannot compare to Element Class. Therefore, while it might be possible for short battles against a few opponents, it’s uncertain if their Mana will last in long battles against many opponents. Just from this point alone, you can see that Element Class surpasses even Ancient Class.”
As Mako explained, I’m manifesting the wings that are characteristic of the Element Class, and I’m conducting magic power enhancement by enveloping those wings with Mana Ring. Furthermore, I have Wing Burst as a trump card, and if I use that, I’m confident I can withstand attacks from G-rank monsters without taking damage. Though P-rank might be tough.
“Y-you’re that amazing…”
“I’d heard they were above Ancient Class, but I never imagined there would be such a difference…”
“Even with increased numbers, there are only a few dozen people in Ancient Class. While Your Highnesses may have opportunities to meet them, ordinary citizens might not. Even so, it’s not a problem for ordinary citizens, but it is necessary for Your Highnesses to accurately understand the power of Ancient Class and Element Class. If, by any chance, you were to become their enemies, your country could be destroyed in the worst-case scenario.”
Ah, so that’s why Mako is making me do this. She wants to teach the princes and princesses, who are in positions to inherit their countries, about the power of Ancient Class and Element Class. Indeed, with just one Ancient Class individual, it wouldn’t be difficult to destroy one or two countries. And if you treat an Ancient Class individual with contempt and make them an enemy, they might not even come to your aid.
“There’s no way we’d do something so foolish!”
“That’s right!”
“Once we see such power before our eyes, no one would think of making enemies of you!”
“Normally, that’s true. However, there will always be those who think they can manage it, who believe they’ll be alright. Your Highnesses may not do such a thing, but what about your subordinates?”
“Well…”
“We can’t say it’s impossible.”
No matter how good a king’s reign is, selfish subordinates will always emerge. In Amister, such individuals would be quickly eliminated, but in Valentia, a newly founded duchy where internal purification is not yet complete, it would be difficult. Furthermore, although Prim didn’t say it, I felt she was alluding to Prince Larva Istrias of Count Enlo Istlias. The princes and princesses should know that Count Enlo Istlias will become independent at the beginning of the year. They would also know that the crown prince of this new country has not been invited, so I think they might have noticed something. The reason Prim didn’t say it was perhaps because there’s a slim chance they might reform. I, however, think it’s 200% impossible.
“Your Highnesses will return to your respective countries after graduation and eventually inherit the thrones. While it’s unclear which of you, H.R.H. Raio or H.R.H. Illumina, will inherit, you won’t be unaffected even if you don’t. Since there’s a possibility, however slim, it’s necessary to be vigilant. Therefore, please consider making trusted friends during your time here and inviting them to your country after graduation. Use their strength to enrich your country, deepen your connections with other nations, and suppress treacherous ministers. Build such a nation.”
These were profound words, and the princes and princesses seemed to be deeply moved, closing their eyes or placing a hand on their chests as they absorbed the words.
Prim’s speech was planned to be delivered during the tour of the General Academy, and it was something that I, Prim, Mana, Hilde, Rika, and Mako had worked hard to devise. Originally, I was supposed to deliver it, but unexpectedly, I ended up participating in a MARS mock battle, so we took advantage of this opportunity. The main reason Prim delivered it was that she is my first wife. From my perspective, this is the best opportunity, and I would have delivered the speech regardless of who was conducting the mock battle.
“Learn greatly, struggle, enjoy, and make use of your four years of academy life in the future. The General Academy is a facility for that purpose.”
As Prim delivered the concluding remarks, applause spontaneously erupted from somewhere. The MARS usage was unexpected, but in hindsight, it all came together nicely, which was good.
However, that’s all well and good, but how long do I have to keep taking attacks from this Goblin Prince? I’m starting to get annoyed, so can you please give me the go-ahead soon?
