Side: Mana
Prim and I flew out using Flying from the roof balcony of our assigned room.
The Wing of Order seems to be stopped in place, so it’s a relief that we won’t be left behind if we attack from here.
But if we fly at full speed, we can catch up in no time.
That being said, I’m currently doubting my own eyes.
That’s because I’m seeing monsters that shouldn’t exist.
“Hey Prim, I think my eyes have gone weird.”
“I’m seeing the same thing, so it’s definitely normal. Though I understand how you feel.”
I knew it, but Prim was seeing the same thing too.
Frankly, it’s beyond common sense, but since it’s staring us in the face as reality, we have no choice but to accept it.
“‘Questing.’ The species name is Twin Head Wyvern, Monster Rank G. Mana, what about you?”
“Mine is Tri-head Wyvern, P-rank. There seems to be only one, so it’s probably for the captain only.”
I think the nearby town’s garrison forces followed the Wing of Order, but even so, I was instinctively intimidated by their sheer strangeness.
After all, the Twin Head Wyvern Prim appraised had two heads, as the name suggests, and the Tri-head Wyvern I appraised had three heads.
In the Philia Continent, monsters with multiple heads don’t exist even in stories.
Yet here, there are over 20 of these multi-headed wyverns right before me, so it’s impossible not to be surprised.
“They’re disgusting, let’s defeat them quickly. However, I need to take that three-headed one back for examination.”
“The Twin Head Wyvern too. Honestly, I never imagined such monsters existed. Is this normal on the Gradia Continent, or is it thanks to the Divine Emperor? Which one could it be?”
“I think it’s pointless to even think about it.”
“Yeah.”
These multi-headed wyverns stopped about 10 meters in front of us.
They followed the Wing of Order, but they couldn’t just pass by with Prim and me waiting in their path. Above all, since we were flying in the sky, they would surely be on guard.
“What are you guys!?”
“Humans in the sky!?”
“Wings!”
“Well, who could we be? But I’ll say this much. We are your enemies.”
“Enemies? You can’t possibly mean you intend to fight us, the glorious Divine Emperor’s Army, with just two people?”
What’s so glorious about it?
The existence of demons is nothing but a bane to the Helios Orb.
Their mere existence leads the world to ruin, so their eradication is certain, regardless of who the enemy is.
However, since I don’t know the extent of the Gradia Continent’s forces, you could say Prim and I were sent out to assess that.
Well, judging by the results of Questing, I can only say we overestimated them.
“Honestly, I think this was a mistake.”
“Naturally. Even though we are dispatched to such a remote area, we are the 5th Division of the Divine Emperor’s Army, capable of slaying even dragons. To face us with only two people is no different from volunteering for suicide. No, death might be preferable?”
The man riding the Tri-head Wyvern, uttering arrogant words that mocked us while casting lewd glances our way.
I find it utterly unpleasant.
“You seem to be mistaken, but your forces are overkill for either one of us. Demons who haven’t even evolved to High Class, and facing G-rank monsters…”
“You are a High Demon and your mount is P-rank, but that’s also within the margin of error.”
Normally, the difference in combat power between a Normal Demon and a High Demon, or a G-rank monster and a P-rank monster, would be far beyond a margin of error.
However, for Element Classes, it’s just a slight variation, and I have no intention of correcting myself, especially since it’s also a provocation.
“High Demon? P-rank? What are you talking about? No, judging by your tone, are you perhaps invaders from the Philia Continent!?”
“To make such unwarranted assumptions, you invaders started it first, didn’t you?”
“Besides, our goal isn’t to conquer the Gradia Continent. Our sole objective is the head of the Divine Emperor.”
“The Divine Emperor’s head? I doubt someone like you could do it, but to harm His Majesty, who is akin to a god, is punishable by death! Listen, everyone! That flying ship from before has been identified as invaders from the Philia Continent! But do not fear! With the power of our Divine Emperor’s Army’s 5th Division’s Dragon Rider Corps, those beings are no match for us! Expel the evil invaders and protect His Majesty the Divine Emperor! And capture that flying ship to present to His Majesty!”
” ” ” ” ” OOOOOOOOOOOOOHH!!” ” ” ” ”
Their judgment after identifying us as enemies is swift, but their ability to assess the difference in forces is fatally lacking.
“I thought only the Divine Emperor was trash, but it seems that’s not the case. If the top is bad, the bottom must be bad too. And those two-headed and three-headed wyverns are disgusting. I’m going to get serious.”
I agree with Prim that the multi-headed wyverns are disgusting and should be dealt with quickly.
We need to take them back for examination, so we have to bring back their corpses, but we’ll do it with the intention of instantly killing them.
Side: Prim
As a Winged Tribe, I already possessed wings, so amplification magic related to wings was sufficient with my Heavenly Talent Magic, Feather Manifestation Magic. When I was an Ancient Class, I couldn’t use it simultaneously with Wing Burst.
However, after evolving into Element Foxy, I gained the ability to use Feather Manifestation Magic and Wing Burst in conjunction.
Now adorned with Wing Burst, in addition to my Fiery Wings, I flutter two pairs of four wings imbued with Crimson Flame, Azure Wind, and Violet Lightning.
With my four wings, I can now achieve greater speed and perform sudden directional changes and sharp turns, significantly expanding my combat capabilities.
However, it’s only been about a month since I gained the ability to use Wing Burst, so I’m not yet adept at using my newly manifested wings.
But facing the enemies before us, my usual fighting style will be perfectly adequate.
“You’re serious, Prim.”
“Given who we’re facing. You’re planning to go all out too, aren’t you, Mana?”
“Of course!”
Mana also imbued her wings with Wing Burst and wind attribute magic, which is her innate talent.
Element Classes are also known as acquired Winged Tribes, as their wings exist permanently.
However, even with the evolution to Element Class, they cannot learn Feather Manifestation Magic. So, Yamato and Mako devised and experimented with substitute magic, and the result is the wind attribute magic now residing in the wings on Mana’s back.
“Is that magic called Feather Ring?”
“It’s the wind attribute one. Mako uses it often. Yamato often uses ice or light though.”
I use this as a Unique Magic without chanting; the magic name is Feather Ring – [Attribute].
The [Attribute] part is filled with the attribute name, and it enhances amplification magic as well as the corresponding attribute magic, making it quite versatile.
Though it requires the use of Wing Burst, it now offers greater amplification than Wing Burst itself, and the imbued attribute magic is also enhanced, making it sufficiently effective.
Currently, I can only enchant a single attribute magic, but they mentioned that they eventually want to be able to enchant multiple attribute magics like Feather Manifestation Magic.
“Wh-what… what is THAT!?”
They’re surprised by our suddenly amplified magic power, but we weren’t exactly holding back that much.
Well, we were suppressing it to just enough to fly, so perhaps that’s what caused their misunderstanding.
Not that I care.
“To not even feel the difference in combat power, how could you speak so boastfully with such meager abilities?”
“Perhaps demons perceive magic power differently, and that’s the reason? Even so, not to understand is beyond foolishness.”
“Wh-what did you say!?”
The High Demon is enraged by our words, which are true but also provocative, but I don’t care.
Furthermore, since I have no intention of wasting any more time, let’s get this done.
“Well then, let’s do this!”
“Understood!”
“H-here they come! Attack!!”
Mana seemed to feel the same way.
Indeed, the two-headed and three-headed wyverns are disgusting, and there’s no point in prolonging this.
So, let’s defeat them all at once, rendezvous with the Wing of Order, and have them investigate.
The demons also reacted to us drawing our weapons and attacked, and I intend to thoroughly ascertain the capabilities of Abaricia’s forces.
“Oh, you can breathe fire. It seems to have some power, but that won’t affect Prim.”
“It won’t affect you either. And for a G-rank monster, the power is far too low.”
“I-impossible…!”
They fired flames first, but defending against the flames of a G-rank monster is not difficult for either Prim or me.
In fact, the power is on par with or even less than that of an S-rank monster.
Anything of that level could be defended against not only by Element Classes but even by Ancient Classes.
However, for the demons, it was an astounding event, and their attack faltered for a moment.
“Don’t be so surprised. To stop moving on the battlefield is equivalent to saying you don’t want to live.”
“We didn’t intend to take too long anyway, so it doesn’t bother us. So, let’s finish this!”
I gripped my spear-axe, Crimson Wing, and Mana readied her multi-jointed sword, Flareedge Sword. Entwined with Blading, we launched ourselves forward at high speed, defeating them one after another.
Except for the captain, the demons were Normal Demons. They couldn’t withstand our attacks and were split in two, falling to the ground. However, a Wyvern survived even after losing one of its heads, which surprised me a little.
Well, after losing the other head, it seemingly couldn’t survive and fell promptly.
“Wh-what… what are you! Why can you defeat the Chimeras created by His Majesty the Divine Emperor so easily!?”
The High Demon, whom we left for last, cried out invoking a word I couldn’t overlook.
Created by the Divine Emperor?
“I don’t understand what it means, but it seems to be something terrible.”
“It does. However, I don’t intend to take you alive. Capturing a High Demon is too risky.”
Normally, we would take prisoners and extract information through interrogation or torture, but it’s too risky to capture demons alive.
Even a Normal Demon possesses magic power comparable to a High Class, so it would cause unnecessary damage not only to the Wing of Order but also to the Ritter.
“Urgh!”
“There’s no way I’ll let you escape!”
Towards the High Demon who attempted to flee, I lunged forward, enveloped in Seraphim Penetrator.
Piercing the body of the Tri-head Wyvern, I also incinerated the High Demon’s man with my Fiery Flames.
The Tri-head Wyvern fell, but it vanished enveloped in a Magic Circle mid-descent.
“Telekinetic Magic is indeed convenient.”
“Yes, it’s truly invaluable.”
Upon evolving into an Element Class, Mana was granted the Heavenly Talent Magic, Telekinetic Magic.
I heard that Telekinetic Magic can be used like extending invisible hands, but it also requires practice to master.
Mana evolved several months ago, so she can’t be said to be fully accustomed to it yet, but it seems to be adequate for recovery into storage.
“Anyway, let’s head back. There’s a mountain of things we need to report.”
That’s right.
It’s overwhelming to think about where to start reporting.
However, this is important, and it’s information that even the investigation team couldn’t obtain. We must report it thoroughly, and afterward, we’ll have to examine the corpses of the two-headed and three-headed wyverns.
It seems we’ll be staying here today.
While not quite in the heart of enemy territory, we’ll need to be more vigilant than ever.
It seems we’ve finished collecting the monsters, so let’s return to the Wing of Order.
