Chapter 13: Breach of Contract
Long Qinxin watched from outside the classroom as Leng Qing Qiu finished the food she gave to Lu Zhiyin, almost grinding her teeth to dust.
It wasn’t until the afternoon, as students who went to the cafeteria for lunch began to return to their classrooms, that Long Qinxin slowly straightened up.
She wasn’t in a hurry to return to the classroom; instead, she left the teaching building and walked towards the infirmary.
She didn’t want to see Leng Qing Qiu anymore, at least not today.
Her direction, completely opposite to the crowd, drew attention. However, Long Qinxin no longer cared about the strange glances, at least not for now.
“…I must go to the appointment this afternoon…”
She murmured to herself, entered the infirmary, paid for some disinfectant and bandages, and carefully treated the wound she had made on her palm.
“…”
Closing her eyes, Long Qinxin prepared to rest in the infirmary for a while.
While she was in the infirmary, in the classroom, Leng Qing Qiu casually threw the lunchbox and chopsticks into the trash can.
She tilted her head, and her gaze fell upon Lu Zhiyin, who seemed lost in thought.
Lu Zhiyin hadn’t eaten much for lunch. She seemed displeased that she had eaten the food Leng Qing Qiu gave her of her own accord, but ultimately dared not voice her anger.
Leng Qing Qiu didn’t care whether Lu Zhiyin ate or not. She simply disliked seeing Lu Zhiyin fixated on someone she disliked.
Strengthening her resolve to sever Lu Zhiyin’s relationship with Long Qinxin, Leng Qing Qiu stood up. She leaned against Lu Zhiyin from behind, exerting her weight on her.
Fortunately, there was the backrest of the wheelchair, so Lu Zhiyin didn’t feel too strained.
“What’s wrong…?”
Feeling the weight behind her, Lu Zhiyin asked.
“You’ve come back to your senses?”
Answering a question with a question, Leng Qing Qiu rubbed her face against Lu Zhiyin’s.
Such an intimate gesture made Lu Zhiyin stiffen. Based on her current experiences, whenever Leng Qing Qiu acted intimately, it was never a good sign.
“Mhm… I was just spacing out… I’m sorry…”
She wasn’t actually spacing out; she was just worried about Long Qinxin.
She feared that Long Qinxin might have some bad thoughts and that Long Qinxin’s good impression of her might decrease because of Leng Qing Qiu.
She had just scanned the returning students in the classroom and had not seen Long Qinxin’s figure for a long time, which further heightened her worry.
She thought that she absolutely had to go to the appointment this afternoon.
“You’re thinking about that Long Qinxin, aren’t you?”
Blinking, Leng Qing Qiu accurately guessed Lu Zhiyin’s thoughts.
“…No…”
Her body grew stiffer, and Lu Zhiyin shook her head.
“Mhm, I believe you, my Zhiyin.”
Leng Qing Qiu suddenly smiled. She returned to her seat and stopped speaking.
For the rest of the afternoon, Leng Qing Qiu did not speak to Lu Zhiyin again. Lu Zhiyin thought she was probably angry.
After today’s end of school, she would likely have many more injuries.
However, for Lu Zhiyin, whether she was injured or not no longer mattered. Long Qinxin’s thoughts and feelings were more important.
She spent the entire afternoon in a daze, her mind filled with Long Qinxin, and naturally didn’t pay much attention in class.
Or rather, since she came to this world, she basically never paid attention in class.
The impression the teachers in the class had of her grew increasingly poor. Honestly, Lu Zhiyin was really worried that one day she would be disciplined.
Fortunately, there was no such mechanism in games, and it probably wouldn’t be here either?
“Leng Qing Qiu… I have some things to do today, you can go back by yourself.”
After the bell rang for the end of the last class, Lu Zhiyin began to pack her things.
She put the books she borrowed from the library, as well as the textbooks on her desk that she had barely looked at, into her schoolbag.
After packing her things, Lu Zhiyin left the classroom directly without waiting for Leng Qing Qiu’s reply.
She quickly blended into the crowd, but Leng Qing Qiu was not in a hurry, because Lu Zhiyin’s wheelchair was too conspicuous. Even in the throng of people, Leng Qing Qiu could identify her at a glance.
At the same time, Long Qinxin, who had been lying in the infirmary all afternoon, sat up.
“…”
While she was lying in the infirmary, the school doctor had also thought about kicking her out. Of course, after Long Qinxin produced enough money, the doctor stopped bothering her.
“It’s after school… I should go to the park to wait for her…”
Feeling somewhat dazed, Long Qinxin’s mind was still filled with the faces of Lu Zhiyin and Leng Qing Qiu.
Of course, it was mostly Lu Zhiyin.
The girl’s weak appearance was like her past self.
She wanted to protect the girl, and to protect herself from memory.
Perhaps it wasn’t just because of these reasons? Who knew, people’s hearts were always the hardest things to fathom.
Long Qinxin touched her chest. She moved through the crowd, gradually breaking into a run, pushing aside those who blocked her way.
Before long, Long Qinxin had arrived at the agreed-upon park. She sat on a park bench, looking at the fallen leaves by the bench, quietly waiting for the person she wanted to see.
Unfortunately, she was destined not to see Lu Zhiyin today.
At the school gate, Lu Zhiyin, who had just left school, was about to find the way to the park when Leng Qing Qiu leisurely followed behind her.
“You want to go find Long Qinxin?”
Her voice was somewhat nonchalant. Leng Qing Qiu took hold of Lu Zhiyin’s wheelchair and pushed it down a familiar path.
“Mhm… I have some things to tell her…”
Turning her head, Lu Zhiyin grabbed one of Leng Qing Qiu’s hands.
She could guess what Leng Qing Qiu was going to do, but she… seemed unable to resist.
“You’re not allowed to go find her.”
Refusing Lu Zhiyin’s request without any mercy, Leng Qing Qiu batted Lu Zhiyin’s hand away.
She didn’t make any threatening gestures, but simply pushed Lu Zhiyin towards her home.
The calmer Leng Qing Qiu became, the more a sense of crisis Lu Zhiyin felt.
“…”
Lu Zhiyin opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, she swallowed it back.
After all, Leng Qing Qiu wouldn’t listen to whatever she said, right?
Her eyes darkened, but Lu Zhiyin’s mind was still dominated by Long Qinxin.
The innocent and lovely girl was probably still waiting for her, and she didn’t know how long she would have to wait…
And the reality was just as Lu Zhiyin had thought. Long Qinxin was waiting for her on the park bench.
“…Not here yet…?”
Sitting alone on the bench, Long Qinxin watched the leaves fall one by one, watched pedestrians pass by, until the sun gradually set, the temperature slowly dropped, and the world became dim.
“…Really… can’t come…?”
She bent down, picked up a dried fallen leaf from the ground, a hint of disappointment in her heart.
“It’s okay, she was probably forced by Leng Qing Qiu again.”
Smiling somewhat stiffly, Long Qinxin stood up. She patted away the non-existent dust on her clothes and crushed the fallen leaf in her palm.
The fragments of the dried leaves stuck to the bandage on her palm, which wasn’t very comfortable.
She walked towards the apartment she had recently rented near the school. The sunset cast her shadow long, making her appear even more forlorn.
