Chapter 48: Qin An is a Bit Depressed
Sitting in the car, Qin An wore a jacket and brown Doc Martens. She impatiently jiggled her leg and looked out the window.
Outside the car was a child much younger than her, with black hair and black eyes, dressed in cheap, unbranded clothes.
This kid was the so-called adopted son her father wanted her to meet.
Qin An disliked this person. He always had a smile on his face, but in reality, he was a terrible person behind closed doors.
She had asked her father’s butler about this person and learned about his deeds from the butler.
Before being chosen by Qin An’s father, this person lived in an orphanage. He didn’t get along well with the other orphans at the orphanage. Those children were all good friends with him.
Until this person learned the purpose of Qin An’s father’s visit to the orphanage and Qin An’s father’s identity.
After Qin An’s father had a long talk with the orphanage director and was about to leave, this person was building a nest for the young birds in the yard. When Qin An’s father saw the nestling chirping in the boy’s hand, the man simply frowned, and the boy in front of him abruptly squeezed the nestling to death, thus attracting Qin An’s father’s attention.
After this incident, Qin An’s father visited many times. The man never said a word each time, but he would always silently express dissatisfaction with certain things, and this boy would always tacitly and quickly resolve the issues that dissatisfied Qin An’s father.
When the man frowned at the boy playing with his friends, the boy would break off contact with his friends; when the man shook his head at the toy in the boy’s hand, the boy would smash his beloved toy to pieces; on one occasion, the man inexplicably scolded a little girl who got along well with the boy, and this guy directly bit off the little girl’s little finger.
Qin An detested this guy, not just because he tried to take her father away from her.
Last night, her father had asked her to settle this brat and then have her drive him to the manor in the suburbs today, which was really troublesome.
More than taking this brat to meet her father, Qin An was more concerned about the person who was hit by the car yesterday.
At the time, she didn’t know how much money was in her purse, nor if it was enough for that idiot’s medical expenses.
More importantly, she was worried that she had killed that person. Although hitting and killing someone wouldn’t land her in jail, Qin An still cared a little.
“Tsk… This is terrible. People who extort money, and brats, they’re all so annoying.”
Scratching her short blonde hair, as Qin An felt annoyed, the little boy she loathed had already arrived outside the passenger door.
He fumbled with the car door handle.
“Sister, are we going to see Father now?”
A crisp voice reached her ears. The way he called her “sister” was particularly sweet, but Qin An only felt disgusted.
After learning what this boy had done, all his attempts to curry favor made Qin An feel like he was being overly sentimental.
“Don’t call me sister.”
She glared fiercely at the shorty outside the car. This person was trying to snatch her father, yet he was affectatiously calling her sister, and he was touching her car with those dirty hands.
Qin An felt even more disgusted. She thought that if this person weren’t a child, she would definitely beat him up.
Qin An was malicious, but not malicious enough. Her series of bullying incidents at school were considered childish by Qin An’s father.
She was neither refined, educated, nor polite; her heart wasn’t firm enough, nor her hands dark enough. Qin An was in such an awkward position.
The reason Qin An’s father was willing to find an adopted son to raise rather than let Qin An inherit his position was precisely because Qin An’s abilities and personality were not favored in either the legitimate or illegitimate circles.
If Qin An were truly to inherit his position, she would likely be imprisoned for all the unsavory matters that needed to be handled within the first month of her appointment.
Of course, Qin An was unaware of her father’s considerations. She only felt that her father did not love her and resented her father.
“But, Father asked me to call you sister? Are you not going to obey Father?”
Outside the car door, the little boy continued to call out persistently. He knew very well that the person in front of him disliked him and didn’t want him to enter this family.
One-sided flattery was likely a futile effort, so he brought up Qin An’s father, trying to use Qin An’s father to suppress Qin An.
In fact, Qin An’s father had never said such a thing. Although he wasn’t very fond of his daughter, the man probably knew what kind of person his daughter was.
In the little boy’s eyes, such words were minor details. A small lie wouldn’t cause any trouble. He had thought so since he was young.
Unfortunately, he had misunderstood the relationship between Qin An and her father.
“He is not your father, understand?”
As soon as her father was mentioned, Qin An’s already dissatisfied emotions erupted.
“But…”
The odious little boy grasped the door handle, trying to pull the door open while speaking.
Qin An directly stepped on the accelerator, and the car sped forward for more than ten meters. Although the boy retracted his hand in time, he still fell to the ground.
“You can walk to your destination yourself.”
She couldn’t be bothered to deal with this tiresome guy anymore, so she casually threw out her last sentence, then rolled up her car window and drove away.
Her mood was worse than ever. She drove the car all the way to the school gate, intending to find the white-haired girl in her memory to vent her pent-up emotions.
Getting out of the car, when Qin An arrived outside the classroom, it was not far from the end of school.
“…Tsk… Is it almost time to get out of school? That’s good… If I trap that person in school and don’t let her leave, she should cry very miserably, right?”
Qin An checked the time on her phone and considered where to lock Lu Zhiyin in the school.
She felt that mistreating that crippled white-haired girl would really help her mood.
Standing in the corridor, Qin An surveyed the students in the classroom. She couldn’t quite remember Lu Zhiyin’s seat.
After scanning the entire classroom and not finding anyone, she suddenly realized that the crippled white-haired girl should not have come to class today.
“…Damn it…”
Her mood, which had slightly improved, plummeted back to the bottom.
She sullenly banged on the railing, feeling unprecedentedly unlucky.
In the past two days, the things she had encountered were basically terrible for her.
“Sigh…”
She kicked the railing in the corridor and sighed.
She leaned on the railing, pondering new ways to relieve stress.
Looking at the quiet sports ground outside, Qin An tapped the railing aimlessly. She felt her pocket and realized her cigarettes and lighter were still in the car.
Thus, she became even more depressed.
Time ticked by, and it was soon dismissal time.
Students emerged from the classrooms in groups of three or five, chatting about trivial matters that were supposed to be extremely boring, as usual.
Things should have been like this, but today, Qin An heard some slightly different sounds.
“Did you hear? That pervert from the next class who likes to get hit got into a car accident and is on leave.”
“Yeah, I know. And that Long Qinxin. That guy was usually so low-key, but it turns out she’s super rich. I heard from my friend that person put a lot of money on the teacher’s desk, completely disregarding the teacher’s authority. The teacher in the next class could only endure it resentfully. It was so cool. I wish I were that rich too…”
Chatting about the interesting things that happened at school today, two girls from Qin An’s class went downstairs together.
As for Qin An, she automatically ignored the latter part of the conversation.
That so-called pervert was probably Lu Zhiyin… And she got into a car accident?
Qin An thought of the person she had hit by her car last night for no apparent reason.
She became even more vexed.
