Chapter 6: The Curious Daily Life of a Deity
Lying on the bed, her chest filled with frustration, Lu Zhiyin wanted to say something to herself, but the gag prevented her from speaking, leaving only shameful whimpers.
Realizing she could do nothing, she closed her eyes and soon entered a dream, resentment churning in her heart.
Her consciousness flickered in the darkness, boundless and seemingly wrapped in an invisible membrane. Lu Zhiyin vaguely understood something.
After struggling in the bottomless darkness for a long time, the darkness dissipated, and she found herself in the familiar pavilion.
“…Am I going to see the deity again…”
It seemed that every time she experienced being wrapped in an invisible membrane, it heralded her meeting with the so-called deity.
Lu Zhiyin was somewhat curious. What would the world look like if she could break through that membrane?
Would she wake up? Would she return to her original world? Or would she go to some other strange place?
Lu Zhiyin was not entirely sure.
She steadied herself, once again able to feel the existence of her legs after a long time.
She stomped her feet; the feeling of being firmly planted on the ground reassured her.
The pain from her injuries was temporarily absent, and Lu Zhiyin touched her chest.
The softness of her chest gave her a sense of reality.
“Sigh…”
Taking a deep breath, Lu Zhiyin looked at her body.
She was wrapped in a thin bedsheet, which was a bit drafty, but it was surprisingly not cold in the pavilion.
She touched her neck again. The collar given to her by Long Qinxin was still around her slender neck.
With a complex mix of emotions, Lu Zhiyin began to wonder. If she held a dagger when she fell asleep next time, could she bring the dagger into this place?
If she could, she hoped to let the so-called painful sensation experience the taste of pain.
Although she knew she would most likely not be able to harm that person.
“…”
Lowering her head, Lu Zhiyin averted her gaze, clenching her fists.
A faint breeze blew past, lifting the strands of hair from Lu Zhiyin’s forehead. With the wind came the divine maiden, with wings outstretched, descending slowly.
She was still wearing the same spotless white robe as before, and Lu Zhiyin still couldn’t see the divine maiden’s face.
She was a little curious about what the person in front of her looked like. What kind of face was hidden beneath the invisible mist? This person was so malicious, was she probably very ugly? It was unlikely, as goodness and evil had nothing to do with one’s face.
Tightening her fists even more, Lu Zhiyin closed her eyes.
“You seem to be thinking of something dangerous.”
The familiar voice of the divine maiden reached her ears. Lu Zhiyin looked up, and the person in front of her had already sat down on the stone stool.
“No.”
Opening her eyes, Lu Zhiyin looked up and shook her head, suppressing her emotions.
Whether good or bad, she hid all these emotions and looked calmly at the deity before her, bowing slightly.
“Oh.”
Paying little attention to Lu Zhiyin’s words, she could see through Lu Zhiyin’s thoughts. Lu Zhiyin could hide nothing from her.
Neither her delusion of stabbing her with a knife nor her speculation about her appearance.
The divine maiden wouldn’t care about her thoughts, just as an elephant wouldn’t care about the opinion of an ant.
…Does she really not care?
She probably does care. Lowering her eyes, the divine maiden felt inexplicably annoyed.
She was probably a petty elephant.
Qi A Ling VIII Wu Shi Liu Ba Qi “Come and sit down.”
Lounging on the table, the divine maiden’s demeanor made Lu Zhiyin somewhat dazed.
In her memory, this person always appeared lazy, which indeed fit the conduct of an evil god.
“Mhm.”
Nodding lightly, Lu Zhiyin slowly walked towards the stone table. As she walked, the fine chain attached to her collar swayed, and the iron rings clanged against each other, producing an irritating sound.
Lu Zhiyin endured the discomfort and arrived at the table. Just as she was about to sit on the stool, the stool abruptly disappeared.
“I didn’t ask you to sit on the stool.”
Glancing at Lu Zhiyin with her peripheral vision, the divine maiden pondered how to pass the time by tormenting the person before her.
“…?”
Lu Zhiyin froze. First, she felt a moment of confusion, and then she realized that the person before her was trying to make things difficult for her.
Lu Zhiyin knelt on the ground without a word, and after she knelt, the divine maiden made the stone table disappear as well.
“Have you been doing well lately?”
Looking at the collar on Lu Zhiyin’s neck, the divine maiden let out a light laugh.
She naturally knew how Lu Zhiyin was doing; she was just taunting her now.
“Thanks to you, I am doing well…”
Gritting her teeth, Lu Zhiyin dared not complain about the detestable person before her.
“…Should I consider you a human or a dog now?”
Beckoning with her finger, the fine chain connected to the collar floated into the divine maiden’s hand. She tugged the chain, and Lu Zhiyin’s body leaned forward involuntarily.
This pulling sensation reminded Lu Zhiyin of when Long Qinxin dragged her by the chain today.
“…”
Not knowing how to answer the divine maiden’s question, she chose to remain silent.
Seeing this, the divine maiden felt a little bored.
Her words were sharp enough, yet the person before her showed no anger.
She had wanted to find an excuse to torment her and add more hardship to her already difficult life.
Had her sharp edges been worn off, or had she become smart enough to hide her emotions?
The divine maiden felt it was the latter.
“Never mind. Whether it’s a dog or a human, it makes no difference. They can both be crushed to death easily.”
As she spoke, the divine maiden tugged the chain again.
Lu Zhiyin then crept forward slowly on her knees.
The divine maiden looked at the girl kneeling before her, placing a bare foot on Lu Zhiyin’s shoulder.
The divine maiden did not worry about her toy committing suicide from torment, because living had no need for reasons.
“…”
Feeling the weight on her shoulder, Lu Zhiyin felt humiliated. She tried to think of other things to distract herself, but the only keywords that came to her mind were “deity.”
She was somewhat curious about the daily life of a deity, why she had such wicked tastes, and why she always appeared so lazy.
“My daily life?”
Reading Lu Zhiyin’s thoughts again, the divine maiden paused slightly.
Then, she generously told Lu Zhiyin the answer.
“My daily life consists of sleeping, and then finding amusement from small bugs like you.”
As she spoke, the divine maiden yawned again.
“As for wicked tastes… Is this considered wicked taste? Don’t humans also find amusement from creatures like ants? You pour boiling water into ant nests for fun. I haven’t poured magma into your cities for fun. Therefore, you are the more wicked ones.”
Sitting up straight, the divine maiden released the chain in her hand. She had no interest in teasing the person before her further today.
“Alright, I’m going to rest now. Goodbye.”
Yawning, the divine maiden waved her hand, expelling Lu Zhiyin from that space.
