Chapter 47: The Promise
After Qin An fled, Lu Zhiyin did not pursue her. Instead, she returned to her classroom.
She needed to give Qin An some time to think properly. She couldn’t push her too hard, as it would only be counterproductive.
“Have I really become a bad person?”
Lu Zhiyin rested her head back on the desk. While waiting for Long Qinxin to find her, she silently asked herself.
The answer was undoubtedly yes. The former her would never have thought of killing an innocent person.
Compared to her timid past self, she had grown, but she was also earnestly sprinting towards the position of scum.
Becoming more talkative was a good thing, but what about the rest? Going from abiding by laws to wanting to murder an innocent child, could that be considered growth?

It was never her fault.

She closed her eyes, feeling mentally exhausted, and decided to take a nap on the desk.
When she woke up, it was already afternoon. Most students had already left, except for the boarding students. While Lu Zhiyin was asleep, Qin An had come to see her, but she only looked through the window a few times before leaving the school.
Qin An was still shocked by Lu Zhiyin’s astonishing remarks and hadn’t recovered. She didn’t dare to consider the possibility of Lu Zhiyin’s plan.

After a few grunts, Lu Zhiyin slowly sat up. She had just woken up, and her vision was not clear yet, but she recognized the person sitting in front of her by their blurry outline.
“Are you awake, Zhiyin?”
It was Long Qinxin. She had gone back to clean her parents, applied medicine to them, and then rushed back to school.
“Yes, sorry, I fell asleep.”
Lu Zhiyin apologized softly to Long Qinxin and noticed the fatigue in her eyes.
She reached out and rubbed Long Qinxin’s forehead.
“I should be the one apologizing for making you wait, Zhiyin.”
The girl’s cool, soft hand melted Long Qinxin’s heart like water. She pushed Lu Zhiyin to leave the school.
As they passed the school gate, Lu Zhiyin saw a familiar figure.
It was Zhu, sitting in the security booth filling out forms.
Lu Zhiyin hadn’t seen Zhu for some time and didn’t plan to approach her now.
She thought about leaving the opportunity for the next life and didn’t call out to her.
Long Qinxin also seemed to have no intention of speaking. She ignored Zhu and continued to push Lu Zhiyin forward.
After all, Long Qinxin wasn’t very familiar with Zhu. Far from being friends, they had only met a few times. At most, they were acquainted.
“Classmate Zhiyin?”
To Lu Zhiyin’s surprise, Zhu noticed them and stopped Long Qinxin, who was pushing Lu Zhiyin forward.

Lu Zhiyin had no choice but to turn back and respond to Zhu.

“Nothing, I just feel like we haven’t seen each other in a long time.”
Zhu shook her head.
“School starts tomorrow. There shouldn’t be any classes on the first day. If you have time, can you come to the library? We made a promise last semester.”
Zhu still remembered the promise Lu Zhiyin made to rewrite the ending of a novel together.
To be honest, Zhu’s winter break was not pleasant. There was not much for her to handle at school during the winter break, and her father was also at home for extended periods. As long as her principal father didn’t stop molesting female students, Zhu would never be pleased with her father.
If Zhu wanted to go out and play… she didn’t really have any friends. Although she often helped others, she didn’t have any close friends.
What made her even more depressed was that the player who was willing to play games with her, a black slave proxy, had inexplicably deleted her as a friend.
For Zhu, this winter break could be described as terrible. Although there were no major incidents, the accumulation of various trivial matters made her feel very annoyed.

Lu Zhiyin didn’t know Zhu’s inner thoughts. She looked back at Long Qinxin behind her, then at Zhu in the security booth, and finally nodded.
“Yes, that’s good then.”
With the affirmative reply, Zhu was satisfied.
“Okay then, see you tomorrow, Senior Zhu.”
After a brief conversation, Lu Zhiyin quickly said goodbye. She felt a little uneasy. To be honest, she was afraid that Long Qinxin would expose her on the spot.
Long Qinxin was still quite possessive of her. Lu Zhiyin was well aware of this.

“See you tomorrow, classmate Zhiyin.”
After they said goodbye to each other, Long Qinxin pushed the wheelchair and took Lu Zhiyin away from the school gate.
They maintained silence for a while, which was only broken when they reached the apartment building.
“Is darling unhappy?”
Lu Zhiyin’s voice carried a hint of probing.
“No.”
Long Qinxin’s voice was muffled, and it was easy to tell she was lying.
She was unhappy. She had to take care of her parents, so she couldn’t stay at school. She didn’t want her wife to spend time alone with others, but she couldn’t keep her wife at home either.
Not wanting to lose her temper with Lu Zhiyin, and with no other options, she could only sulk.
“By the way, Zhiyin, can you tell me what your promise was?”
Unable to prevent the meeting between the girls, Long Qinxin could only ask Lu Zhiyin about the content of their promise, hoping to put her mind at ease.
“Hmm? Sure. It’s nothing much, really. We both happen to like reading a storybook, and the ending of that book was terrible, so we promised to rewrite a new ending.”
There was nothing to hide about such a small matter. Lu Zhiyin readily told Long Qinxin about her promise with Zhu.
Because it was the truth, Lu Zhiyin’s expression and tone were normal, and Long Qinxin was reassured.
“Mhm. I understand.”
Long Qinxin’s tense heart relaxed.
She began to blame herself. Why had she doubted the wife she deeply loved?
Lu Zhiyin saw Long Qinxin relax and said nothing.
“Zhiyin, I have to take care of my parents again tomorrow and can’t stay at school. I can send you to school in the morning, but I can probably only pick you up in the evening. Can you wait for me in the classroom?”
Long Qinxin began to talk about tomorrow’s arrangements.
“Okay, I don’t have any problems.”
Lu Zhiyin nodded.
“This is a promise, Zhiyin will keep it, right?”
“Yes, I will keep all promises.”
Casually reassuring Long Qinxin, Lu Zhiyin actively reached out and hugged one of Long Qinxin’s arms, letting Long Qinxin carry her upstairs.
