Chapter 1: A Brand New Life
After spending over a month in the deity’s space, Lu Zhiyin finally had a rare moment to completely relax.
The divine maiden didn’t seem very willing to talk to her, spending most of her time sleeping.
Lu Zhiyin was happy to not have to bicker with that guy or be stared at like garbage.
In this space, Lu Zhiyin didn’t feel bored. The fallen leaves under the trees and the pebbles by the sea of flowers were enough to serve as great toys.
After resting for over a month with a child’s mindset, Lu Zhiyin estimated that the time was about right, and she prepared to get down to business.
She arrived at the door of the house in the courtyard and knocked.
The divine maiden didn’t open the door but appeared directly behind Lu Zhiyin.
“…”
Lu Zhiyin could feel the wind behind her. She knew the deity had appeared behind her, but she didn’t turn around.
Lu Zhiyin thought that perhaps acting like a fool would make the deity forgive her.
“What do you want?”
In a gradually familiar cold tone, the divine maiden kicked Lu Zhiyin’s small leg.
Lu Zhiyin immediately knelt down, her knees hitting the sharp corners of the steps.
She slowly stood up.
“I should leave here.”
She said this, and the divine maiden understood what she meant. Without further questions, she opened a hole in the ground just like the first time they met.
After a moment of mental disorientation, Lu Zhiyin opened her eyes.
“…Is that my tombstone? That’s interesting.”
She reappeared exactly where her grave was located.
It was dusk, and she could clearly read the inscription on the bluestone tombstone.
“Tomb of Lu Zhiyin”
There were no ornate embellishments, it was plain.
Lu Zhiyin was still satisfied. She had expected Long Qinxin to add an absurd title like “Wife of Long Qinxin” to the tombstone.
If that were the case, she would have been disgusted to the point of vomiting.
Standing straight, Lu Zhiyin touched the tombstone.
Standing in front of her own grave was somehow a bit strange.
She stamped her feet in place, relishing the marvelous feeling of having her legs back.
Lu Zhiyin became joyful.
“Tsk… Fool.”
The divine maiden did not appear immediately. She appeared beside Lu Zhiyin a moment later.
She hid her beautiful wings and the conspicuous halo on her head, and the mist covering her face dissipated.
The divine maiden was no longer wearing a loose robe but the same school uniform as Lu Zhiyin.
Lu Zhiyin heard the divine maiden’s voice. She turned her head and was stunned.
“… ????”
Staring intently at the evil god’s face, Lu Zhiyin was a little surprised. She didn’t expect this secretive character to be so beautiful.
Her golden hair cascaded loosely over her shoulders. Her delicate face was flawless, like finely carved jade, fair and smooth.
She pursed her thin lips tightly, and her pale golden eyes held undisguised disgust.
After the initial shock, Lu Zhiyin quickly regained her composure. After all, she was a deity; she couldn’t possibly be unattractive.
Even if her original appearance was truly ugly, couldn’t she change it herself?
“Why are you staring at me? You imbecile.”
After leaving her own space, the divine maiden’s temper grew worse.
She kicked Lu Zhiyin’s small leg again.
“Uh… I was just wondering why you don’t keep hiding yourself. Don’t you look down on humans? Why are you covering your features?”
Lu Zhiyin took two steps back again, putting more distance between herself and the person in front of her.
“…Even though the thoughts of bugs don’t matter, ‘bird-brain’ gets annoying when said too often.”
The divine maiden rolled her eyes.
“Didn’t you say humans are good at creating fun? Take me to play all the fun things, or I’ll make sure you never reincarnate.”
She habitually threatened Lu Zhiyin.
In Lu Zhiyin’s eyes, the divine maiden increasingly resembled an unreasonable rich young lady from a novel. However, this guy was different from a rich young lady; Lu Zhiyin had no doubt she would follow through with her threat.
After casually issuing what seemed like a light threat, the divine maiden simply picked a direction and started walking.
Lu Zhiyin stood still for a moment before jogging to catch up.
“…”
Saying nothing, the joy of being resurrected was dispelled by the damned deity’s threat.
Lu Zhiyin realized she had quite a few things to do next.
First, she had to return to school, as the two conditions for the ending were both at school.
This alone was a major problem. Her original identity was dead, and she was now an undocumented person. It would be extremely difficult to re-enroll.
At the same time, she also had to solve the problem of accommodation, which required money, and Lu Zhiyin currently had no money.
“Hmph…”
She sighed and looked up at the divine maiden’s back.
She began to wonder if she should seek help from that guy again, but it seemed she had nothing to offer.
“Your worries are meaningless. I’ve already prepared a new identity and destination for you.”
The divine maiden turned around.
“You will return to your original school as a transfer student named Lu Shiyu. As for accommodation… you can choose to live in the dormitory.”
Hearing the divine maiden’s words, Lu Zhiyin felt a little surprised.
Was this the evil god she knew? How could she be so considerate?
“It’s just the supporting services for your second life that you wished for last time. What, do you want to thank me? No need, I don’t need thanks from bugs.”
After speaking, the divine maiden continued walking aimlessly without another word. Lu Zhiyin followed closely behind the divine maiden.
They walked in relative silence for a long time. The sun set, and the sky gradually darkened. Lu Zhiyin and the divine maiden entered the city.
The city’s streetlights turned on, illuminating the road with a dim yellow light. From time to time, dog barks could be heard from the alleys along the streets, and scattered thugs were visible on both sides of the street.
If Lu Zhiyin were walking alone at night, she would probably be afraid, as both large dogs and thugs could pose a real threat to her.
However, Lu Zhiyin was not panicked now, as a deity was walking in front of her.
This damned evil god was much more attractive than herself. If these thugs were to cause trouble, they would target her first.
Well… as for the consequences of harassing the deity… it probably wouldn’t end well.
Listening to the dog barks by the roadside, and turning a blind eye to the occasional female students being dragged into alleys, Lu Zhiyin silently followed behind the divine maiden.
“So, humans are such base creatures; they can engage in reproductive behavior even in public.”
The divine maiden couldn’t hold back her comments. It was too boring to just walk in silence.
The divine maiden was not someone who could stay idle, so she proactively started a conversation.
“…Isn’t this the world you created for ‘butterworks’? Why is it related to humans again?”
Lu Zhiyin retorted speechlessly.
The divine maiden was speechless. This was indeed the world she created. Without her, it would just be a simple game.
Irritated, she accelerated the flow of time. Before Lu Zhiyin could react, it was already morning. Lu Zhiyin arrived at the familiar school gate, with the divine maiden still standing beside her.
