Chapter 12: Weekend
Lu Zhiyin spent a few peaceful days at school.
She attended classes as usual, ate meals as usual, and worked part-time at a restaurant every night. She was silently waiting for her borrowed book to be overdue, hoping to create an opportunity to get closer to Zhu Qing.
During these few days, Lu Zhiyin did not see Qin An again. Long Qinxin still followed her around until Lu Zhiyin entered the restaurant where she worked part-time every afternoon before leaving.
She felt a bit impatient, but since Long Qinxin did nothing, Lu Zhiyin couldn’t really say anything.
As for Ouyang Qing, she spoke very little to Lu Zhiyin these days and no longer asked Lu Zhiyin to take her out for fun.
She still looked at Lu Zhiyin and the other classmates in the classroom with disdain, but her words were no longer so condescending.
Ouyang Qing’s unusual behavior made Lu Zhiyin uncomfortable. This person was an unstable factor, and Lu Zhiyin was really afraid she would explode at any moment.
In the blink of an eye, it was the weekend, and Lu Zhiyin woke up in the dormitory as usual.
“…Sigh…”
To prevent Ouyang Qing from causing a big problem, Lu Zhiyin decided to take Ouyang Qing out of school today to have some fun.
She had saved some money these past few days, not enough for lavish meals or places like amusement parks or theme parks, but enough to take Ouyang Qing to roadside stalls or internet cafes?
Well, maybe also watch a movie? Movie tickets seemed quite cheap.
With many thoughts in mind, Lu Zhiyin looked at Ouyang Qing, who was still sleeping not far away.
The cheap turtle doll was still hanging on her waist. To be honest, Lu Zhiyin did not expect this person to keep the doll for so long.
She thought Ouyang Qing would get tired of it soon and destroy the little turtle.
“…”
Holding her forehead, Lu Zhiyin went to the washstand by the window to wash up.
Ouyang Qing still hadn’t woken up after Lu Zhiyin washed up. Lu Zhiyin didn’t disturb her but quietly went to the school cafeteria.
The cafeteria was sparsely populated on the weekend, with only a few boarding students. There were also fewer open counters. Lu Zhiyin waited in line for two minutes and bought three steamed buns.
She ate one herself and took two back to the dormitory.
In the dormitory, Lu Zhiyin sat quietly on her own bed, waiting for Ouyang Qing to wake up.
Bored, she observed Ouyang Qing’s sleeping face.
Perhaps because she was asleep, Ouyang Qing’s face was much more serene. A few strands of hair on the side of her face made her demeanor calmer, no longer the cold, arrogant, and condescending look she usually had.
Although she disliked Ouyang Qing, Lu Zhiyin had to admit that the person in front of her was indescribably beautiful.
Holding the still warm steamed buns in her hand, Lu Zhiyin stared blankly. She thought, if only this face belonged to someone else.
While Lu Zhiyin was lost in thought looking at Ouyang Qing, Ouyang Qing slowly woke up.
She opened her eyes, and the serene aura lasted for a while. As Ouyang Qing’s consciousness cleared, she returned to being the unpleasant deity.
“Good morning.”
Lu Zhiyin greeted Ouyang Qing.
“Mm…”
After a moment of silence, Ouyang Qing still did not say good morning.
“What is that?”
Ouyang Qing pointed at the transparent plastic bag containing the steamed buns in Lu Zhiyin’s hand.
“Steamed buns. Do you want to eat breakfast? I’ll give them to you if you do.”
Lu Zhiyin stood up. She understood that Ouyang Qing did not want physical contact, so Lu Zhiyin just placed the bag next to Ouyang Qing.
Ouyang Qing took a steamed bun from the bag and took a bite. The still-congealing white sugar flowed along her teeth into her mouth, and the warm liquid flowed to the tip of her tongue, spreading sweetness in her mouth.
The white flour and sugar were perfectly balanced, so the sweetness was not cloying.
Ouyang Qing liked this feeling.
For a moment, her expression returned to the tranquility of her sleep.
“It tastes good, but I won’t give you any rewards.”
With a slight smile, Ouyang Qing quickly finished the breakfast Lu Zhiyin brought her, her lips curving upward.
Her excessively beautiful face, combined with the smile in her eyes, made Lu Zhiyin lose herself once again.
Pressing her lips together, Lu Zhiyin suddenly felt like she had gone mad. Why did she find this scoundrel who had caused her so much suffering attractive?
She missed the divine maiden who concealed her face. At least then she could freely speculate about this person’s face and treat her as a monster that was unbearable to look at.
“What are you looking at me for? Even if you keep looking, I won’t give you anything.”
In the recent period, Ouyang Qing discovered the secret to not caring about the opinions of those ants.
That was to not read minds. As long as she didn’t read minds, it wouldn’t bother Ouyang Qing no matter what they thought.
This was also why she hadn’t caused any trouble recently.
She had temporarily disabled her mind-reading ability, so she had no way of knowing Lu Zhiyin’s thoughts.
“You just smiled, and it was beautiful.”
Lu Zhiyin did not know that Ouyang Qing no longer read minds. She knew that lies were useless to Ouyang Qing, so she simply told the truth.
“…?”
Ouyang Qing was silent for a while due to Lu Zhiyin’s words.
“Even if you praise me, I won’t let you go, little toy.”
She coughed twice and turned her head away from Lu Zhiyin.
Ouyang Qing guessed that Lu Zhiyin said this to appease her and try to escape from her. However, being praised still made her feel a little proud.
She did not show her pride.
“…Mm.”
Lu Zhiyin lowered her head. Ouyang Qing was still as malicious and arrogant as she remembered.
Her mood slightly soured. After a brief pause, Lu Zhiyin raised her head again.
“Do you want to go out? I have time today.”
She brought up what she had planned long ago.
“Are you going to take me to that so-called claw machine again?”
Mentioning fun, Ouyang Qing’s mood improved further. She stood up, and the doll hanging on her waist swayed, catching Lu Zhiyin’s eye.
“No, I’ll take you to find something more fun.”
Lu Zhiyin did not expect Ouyang Qing to pay for herself this time.
Although the price of playing the claw machine once seemed low, Lu Zhiyin remembered the scene of Ouyang Qing playing it last time. If it weren’t for the late hour and the shop closing, Ouyang Qing would have spent even more money on it.
Those coins thrown into the machine were negligible to Ouyang Qing, as they were merely creations of her divine power. However, if Lu Zhiyin had to pay for them, it would be the death of her.
She could not afford such extravagance.
After careful consideration, Lu Zhiyin decided to take Ouyang Qing to an internet cafe. Her choices were really limited to internet cafes, roadside stalls, and movie theaters. Lu Zhiyin had rejected most other places.
Among the remaining three options, the internet cafe was the cheapest, and video games were indeed engaging.
“Okay, let’s go now.”
She readily agreed to Lu Zhiyin’s suggestion to go out and left the dormitory.
Lu Zhiyin quickly caught up with Ouyang Qing, walked ahead of her, and led her toward the outside of the school.
