Chapter 43: Leng Qing Qiu’s Past
After Leng Qing Qiu left, Lu Zhiyin began to focus on climbing ranks, playing from morning until noon. She had a winning streak, and although she didn’t reach King, she had already reached Diamond Three.
It wasn’t that she didn’t want to continue, but after several hours of gaming, her eyes were tired, and just blinking would cause her to shed physiological tears.
“Does the protagonist’s body have too developed tear ducts…”
Lu Zhiyin muttered, remembering that she rarely cried in her previous life. Playing games for several hours wouldn’t cause any problems at all.
“Currently on a 61-game win streak. It feels… not bad?”
Tilting her head, Lu Zhiyin stretched her stiff neck.
She added her current win streak to her homepage signature and set her stats visibility to public in her privacy settings, just in case others thought she was bragging.
“Yawn… I’ll play again in the afternoon… otherwise, my body can’t take it.”
Yawning, Lu Zhiyin found the charger in the phone’s box and plugged her phone in to charge, then stopped paying attention to it.
She still had many other things to do, like washing clothes and dishes.
Returning to the kitchen, with the help of the bandage on her hand, she smoothly completed the dishwashing. However, the greasy water soaking through the bandage, and the sensation of it touching her wound, made her uncomfortable.
“…”
Silently, Lu Zhiyin removed the bandage, rinsed her wound with clean water for a while, and then left the kitchen, changing to a new bandage.
“After washing the dishes, it’s time to wash the clothes.”
Closing her eyes, Lu Zhiyin didn’t want the water mixed with laundry detergent to touch her wound. Just thinking about it made her start to fear the potential pain.
She found a basin and a low stool, placed the basin on the ground, got off her wheelchair, and sat on the stool.
For someone like Lu Zhiyin, who was disabled, washing clothes was much more troublesome than washing dishes.
After all, she could sit in her wheelchair without any problem while washing dishes; even if she had to rinse them multiple times, it didn’t matter if she couldn’t exert much force due to an awkward posture.
Washing clothes was different. If you couldn’t use enough force, you basically couldn’t wash them clean.
Logically, Lu Zhiyin could use a washing machine, but being somewhat pampered in her previous life, she didn’t know how to use one.
At this moment, she realized how good her past days were. Although she misunderstood her parents a lot, her parents had never treated her unfairly.
Lu Zhiyin carefully rubbed the clothes with her hand, recalling the appearance of her parents in her memory.
By the time she slowly finished washing the clothes and hung them in a dry place in the bathroom, her bandaged hand was already soaked again.
Reluctantly, Lu Zhiyin changed her bandage again. While changing it, she continued to think about her parents.
“What about Leng Qing Qiu’s parents, what were they like to her?”
Lu Zhiyin suddenly thought of this question.
She only knew a little about Leng Qing Qiu, only knowing that Leng Qing Qiu had no parents and hated evil but didn’t know what she had experienced in the past. The game hadn’t specifically mentioned these details.
“If you want to conquer someone, you need to understand her thoroughly first…?”
Thinking this, Lu Zhiyin manipulated her wheelchair and boldly began to explore the other rooms in the house.
In the past, she had only been to the kitchen, the living room, and Leng Qing Qiu’s bedroom.
Besides these three places, the house actually had a storage room and another dusty bedroom, which seemed to have been untouched for a long time.
First, she went to the storage room door. Through the window next to the door, it was not difficult to see that it was mostly full of cardboard boxes.
Lu Zhiyin held her breath and gently pushed open the door.
The storage room was very dark. At the entrance, one could only see piles of boxes stacked like small mountains, and the scattered items next to the boxes were not clearly visible.
Lu Zhiyin simply turned on the light, and the true appearance of the storage room was revealed to her.
Next to the cardboard boxes stacked like small mountains were fishing rods, brooms, and bamboo poles of unknown use.
In the corner of the storage room, some dusty sports equipment could be seen, the most conspicuous being a black and white soccer ball, followed by a brown basketball.
Did Leng Qing Qiu like sports? Or were these items left behind by the victims she had killed?
Continuing deeper into the storage room, Lu Zhiyin saw an old refrigerator. The white refrigerator door had started to turn yellow, indicating that it was not new.
Lu Zhiyin tried to open the refrigerator door and was immediately overwhelmed by a stench that made her cough incessantly.
“Cough cough… cough…”
Waving her hands, after a while, the smell gradually dissipated. What greeted her eyes were two mice lying in the freezer. She didn’t know how they had gotten inside the unplugged refrigerator.
After observing the storage room for a few more minutes, Lu Zhiyin didn’t find anything useful. She left the storage room, closed the door, and went to the dusty bedroom.
This door was sturdier than the storage room door, but it wasn’t locked and wasn’t closed tightly. Lu Zhiyin successfully pushed the door open.
In the room, a black lacquered wooden table lay at one end of the wall, with a red wooden box on the table. On top of the wooden box was a pile of clothes belonging to someone unknown.
In the middle of the bedroom was a large bed, but it only had a mattress and no bedding, likely removed.
Her gaze continued to scan, and when she saw a freezer in the room, Lu Zhiyin froze.
But the reason she froze was not the ordinary freezer itself, but the two black photos above it.
The two photos were well-framed, and the frames were clean. However, the black and white color scheme made it obvious that these were memorial portraits of someone.
The neatly dressed middle-aged couple had gentle smiles, which seemed strangely eerie in this quiet environment.
Lu Zhiyin found it difficult to breathe.
She cautiously approached the freezer.
“Ah…”
Looking down, her hand, soaked in medicine and placed in a glass jar, startled Lu Zhiyin. She cried out in surprise.
The words “sinner” were written in red paint on the lid of the glass jar.
Controlling her wheelchair, Lu Zhiyin, like a mouse seeing a cat, fled from the bedroom.
When she returned to the sofa, Lu Zhiyin slowly calmed down.
The photos, placed neatly, showed people who appeared to have no fear of danger, unlike Leng Qing Qiu’s prey.
Not only were they placed neatly, but the frames were also free of dust, indicating that they were often maintained.
Perhaps these were the memorial portraits of Leng Qing Qiu’s parents? After thinking for a moment, Lu Zhiyin became more and more convinced of this idea.
As for the hands on the ground, perhaps their owners were the murderers who killed Leng Qing Qiu’s parents. This would also explain why Leng Qing Qiu hated evil so much.
