Chapter 74: The Water is Rising
The next morning, Lu Zhiyin woke up from her dream.
“Mmm… yawn…”
She yawned in her dark quilt and slowly crawled out of bed.
Her blurry vision swept across the bed. Her phone lay quietly by the pillow, undisturbed.
“Huh? It’s five o’clock.”
Grabbing her phone, Lu Zhiyin checked the time. It was still early.
The alarm hadn’t gone off, and the rain outside seemed to have stopped; she couldn’t hear it from inside.
Lu Zhiyin groggily climbed back onto her wheelchair and took out a school uniform from the wardrobe, putting it on without bothering to take off her pajamas.
The words of the divine maiden from her dream echoed in her mind.
This world has become more dangerous, and so have the female leads.
“…Good morning.”
Opening Qiuqiu, Lu Zhiyin sent Leng Qing Qiu a “good morning” message along with an emoji of rubbing eyes.
Her client from last night hadn’t messaged her again. Lu Zhiyin could only pray that she wouldn’t delete her as a friend.
Her only client for now, she couldn’t give up on.
Sitting in her wheelchair, Lu Zhiyin picked up Long Qinxin’s school uniform from the previous day and took it to the kitchen.
She had to find a time to wash the uniform and return it to Long Qinxin.
However, she probably wouldn’t be able to do it this morning because school would start soon, and there wasn’t enough time.
“I knew I shouldn’t have gone to bed so early yesterday, sigh…”
Sighing, Lu Zhiyin put aside washing clothes for the moment and went to the front door.
Her stomach ached. Last night, she not only forgot to wash clothes and shower, but she also forgot to eat dinner.
Pushing open the door, she was met with standing water on the street. The water was already very deep, just a little bit more and it would have flooded into her house. The water in the center of the road was probably ten centimeters deep?
Ripples spread across the murky water. Lu Zhiyin reached out her hand, and the cool rain fell on her hand.
“So the rain didn’t stop, it just got lighter…”
She murmured softly and withdrew her hand.
Then, she suddenly realized something was different about her. Her movements seemed smoother than yesterday?
Since she hadn’t taken off her pajamas and just put the school uniform over them, she hadn’t seen her body this morning.
She lifted her sleeve and saw fair, flawless, delicate skin.
“…?”
She felt a sense of disbelief and slowly rolled up her pant leg. The knife wound on her leg was gone, replaced by smooth skin that was even more flawless than before she was injured.
“Is it because of the deity?”
Frowning slightly, Lu Zhiyin didn’t feel happy but rather anxious.
When she was with Leng Qing Qiu, she couldn’t avoid physical contact. What if Leng Qing Qiu saw that her skin, which should have been injured, was now perfectly fine? How would she explain it?
She couldn’t explain it at all.
Her injuries were probably healed by the so-called deity last night while treating her bite wound.
Her divine power might be indeed powerful, but it only brought trouble to Lu Zhiyin.
“Sigh…”
There were no bandages at home to cover all the healed skin. Lu Zhiyin could only try her best not to expose those areas to Leng Qing Qiu.
Restoring her sleeves and pant legs to their original position, Lu Zhiyin closed her eyes. She sat by the door, feeling the cool morning breeze.
Small branches and dead leaves occasionally floated by in the standing water in front of her door. She could sometimes hear the croaking of frogs.
The atmosphere this morning was peaceful, which was reassuring.
Across the road, Leng Qing Qiu’s door was still closed, and the lights were off. She was probably still sleeping, but based on Lu Zhiyin’s experience, she wouldn’t be waking up much longer.
Opening Qiuqiu, Lu Zhiyin logged into the game to see if there were any available orders. Finding no one looking for her, she logged out of the game with some disappointment.
She searched for apps on her phone, thinking she should try writing a novel.
Trying every way to make money wouldn’t hurt.
After searching for a long time, she finally chose an app called “Lolita Package.”
Instead of reading books, she first registered an account and then immediately registered as an author.
Without an outline or concept, Lu Zhiyin just started writing whatever came to mind. After finishing the title and description and writing two thousand words, she realized something was wrong.
Her mind was filled with grand scenes of war and doomsday, and what she wrote was just worthless trash.
“Tsk…”
She probably didn’t have much talent for writing. She began to admire the original owner who could support herself by writing novels.
Exiting “Lolita Package,” Lu Zhiyin didn’t know what to do for the moment. She cleared her mind and quietly watched the rippling water surface.
Placing her phone aside, Lu Zhiyin bent down and stretched her arm to touch the water surface.
Her fingertips touched the icy cold water, and she felt more awake. She tentatively moved her fingers, watching the ripples caused by her movement, and she smiled unconsciously.
Actually, if she wasn’t being held underwater, playing in the water would be pretty nice, wouldn’t it?
Thinking this, at some point, across the road, Leng Qing Qiu’s door was opened.
The tall girl with brown hair stood at the door, wearing white pajamas. Her hair ends were slightly curled, and she probably hadn’t washed up yet.
The swell of her chest was very noticeable. Lu Zhiyin compared it to her own small “hills” and inexplicably felt a bit displeased.
She picked up her phone and opened Qiuqiu. Leng Qing Qiu had sent her a message a few minutes ago, simply saying “Good morning.”
“Leng Qing Qiu, good morning…”
Lu Zhiyin waved at Leng Qing Qiu. She still didn’t know what the deity meant by it becoming more dangerous.
From her perspective, it seemed like nothing had changed. Hmm…
“Zhiyin, good morning.”
Nodding at Lu Zhiyin, Leng Qing Qiu went back inside. After a while, when she reappeared, she had already put on her school uniform and tied her hair into a ponytail.
Wearing rain boots, she walked directly across the road to Lu Zhiyin’s doorstep.
“The teacher said in the class group that we have a holiday today and don’t need to go to school.”
As she said this, Leng Qing Qiu glanced at the standing water at her feet. She was somewhat relieved that it was a holiday today, as she wouldn’t have to see Long Qinxin and her childhood friend interacting closely.
“Understood. That’s good.”
Nodding, Lu Zhiyin looked at Leng Qing Qiu.
She was a bit nervous, afraid that Leng Qing Qiu would notice the changes in her body.
Fortunately, Leng Qing Qiu didn’t grab her wrist to abuse her first thing in the morning.
“Want to go out to eat? And we need to go to the supermarket to buy some groceries. The weather forecast says the rain will intensify this afternoon. If the water continues to rise, all the shops will probably close.”
Walking behind Lu Zhiyin, Leng Qing Qiu held the handles of the wheelchair.
She was as overbearing as always, indifferent to Lu Zhiyin’s feelings.
Since she had already recognized her own scoundrel nature, she might as well continue to do as she pleased.
“Ah… okay, then help me get my wallet. My wallet is on the bedside table in the bedroom.”
Entrusting important matters to Leng Qing Qiu, Lu Zhiyin tried her best to appear trusting. Upon hearing Lu Zhiyin’s words, Leng Qing Qiu smiled as expected.
She knew how important money was to Lu Zhiyin, so it seemed like her status in Lu Zhiyin’s heart was quite high, wasn’t it?
Thinking this, Leng Qing Qiu walked slowly towards Lu Zhiyin’s bedroom.
