Chapter 55 A Mere Burden
This red ghostly shadow was Qin Liu.
She watched the backs of two people and one ghost scattering and fleeing, great question marks in her eyes.
“Ah, no?”
This little ghost pointed at herself, her head full of question marks.
“Am I that scary?”
Although Qin Liu had scared people before in haunted houses, she had put in some effort back then.
But now, she just stood there, not even manifesting, and people were so scared they vanished.
If she were to manifest, wouldn’t their souls be scared away?
“No, no, no…” Qin Liu shook her little head and muttered, “It must be Liu Haoyu’s fault!”
If Liu Haoyu hadn’t been laughing like a murderer, these people here wouldn’t have become so stressed.
“Speaking of which… where is he?”
Qin Liu had always been following behind Liu Haoyu, but when she suddenly looked back and noticed some movement from the cabinet behind her, she wanted to remind the murderer.
But then he vanished.
Leaving her, a ghost, bewildered here.
“Liu Haoyu said this school has more than one ghost… By the way, is Jiangliu City this haunted? I never encountered anything like this in Jiangquan City before?”
“But then again, the ghosts in this school should all be children like that just now, although they are quite scary, it’s better than the underworld things I encountered before.”
“Hmm… I’ll help look for people too.”
Qin Liu mustered a bit of courage, picked up a illuminating lamp, and prepared to explore the school.
Compared to Longshan Vocational High School, this Shishan Second Primary School was not large, with only a few three-story teaching buildings and a canteen, and no dormitories.
It was considered a very small township primary school.
“This place, to be honest, is a bit grim.”
But even though Qin Liu said so, her performance was actually quite good.
You know, in horror movie plots.
The darker and smaller the space, the more fearful it makes people.
In many traditional horror games, there are jump scares designed for walking in corridors that are only shoulder-width apart, and then a ghost suddenly appears.
But here, the view was open, and from the third-floor corridor, one could even see the distant town. Compared to those strange and terrifying haunted houses, this place was not so oppressive.
Furthermore, Qin Liu was a teacher in her life and often patrolled the school at night.
Even though it was somewhat desolate and grim here, for Qin Liu, it was like coming home, full of familiarity.
It was just a bit dark.
She didn’t have a flashlight, so she could only take out that lamp for emergency use.
The yellowed lamplight illuminated the path ahead, and Qin Liu began to walk forward.

On the other side, Liu Siyi and Li Xiangfei were cautiously hiding under a table.
“Ghost!!”
The sudden scream made both of them jump.
Especially Liu Siyi.
Even from a distance, she could clearly feel the genuine fear in the voices of Qiang Ge and the other person.
“Did something happen to them?”
At this moment, Liu Siyi was no longer as arrogant and defiant as when she first entered, and Li Xiangfei was no longer as calm.
A few drops of cold sweat trickled down the man’s forehead.
To avoid being discovered by the ghost in the hide-and-seek game, he and Liu Siyi hid in the school’s surveillance room.
Because they were hiding indoors, they didn’t know what was happening outside.
They only felt that with this scream, someone must have met with an accident.
“Very likely…”
“Then what should we do?”
Liu Siyi, who had already sprained her ankle, became pale from the pain and fear, looking like a corpse.
“I’ll go check for any other exits.”
Li Xiangfei’s words made Liu Siyi’s eyes widen in disbelief.
“Are you trying to die! What if you run into a ghost if you go out now? Besides, that murderer is still outside!”
“This place is too small, and if we keep hiding here, we’ll eventually be discovered.”
Anyone who has played hide-and-seek knows that hiding in one place for too long increases the probability of being found. Therefore, to avoid being found, the hider usually looks for a new hiding spot after confirming it’s safe, and it’s normal to even hide in a place that has already been searched.
Li Xiangfei’s analysis made some sense, but Liu Siyi, who was in excruciating pain, was on the verge of tears.
“The problem is I can’t move right now.”
Saying that, she took off her shoes and socks.
Her ankle was already swollen and a bit red, looking quite serious.
“The infirmary is in the teaching building… Wait for me here.”
Saying that, Li Xiangfei left without looking back.
“Wait, wait! Xiangfei, where are you going?!”
But Liu Siyi’s voice couldn’t stop the man.
Hiding in the surveillance room, she could only watch helplessly as Li Xiangfei quickly disappeared into the white mist.
With her companion gone and her foot injured, Liu Siyi knew that in this situation, if she were discovered… she would surely die!
But she couldn’t walk, so she could only hide under the table in the surveillance room.
Time passed by.
After a few minutes, Liu Siyi was still expecting Li Xiangfei to return.
But after waiting for half an hour, only despair remained in her eyes.
Suspicion and fear crept into her heart.
At this moment, she had already thought of many possibilities.
Did he run into a ghost or the murderer?
Or did he get lost?
Or… did he abandon her and escape alone?
Yes… that’s right…
Right now, she was completely a burden.
This school wasn’t large; half an hour was more than enough time for a round trip, let alone ten minutes.
And Li Xiangfei wasn’t injured. He had the ability to return to the back door and climb over the wall to get out.
The surveillance room was very quiet. Liu Siyi listened to her rapidly beating heart and slowly picked up her mobile phone.
In the light of the phone, her face appeared exceptionally pale.
“No signal… can’t make a call…”
Liu Siyi bit her lip, then slowly crawled out from under the table.
She stood up and turned on the display screen of the surveillance room’s computer.
Perhaps through this computer, she could locate the murderer and the ghost and confirm the safety of the surveillance room’s surroundings.
School computers are usually not turned off, only the screen display is turned off to standby.
When the large display screen slowly lit up, it was divided into more than ten small screens.
There weren’t many surveillance cameras in this school, so there weren’t many places that could be seen.
Liu Siyi kept operating the computer, constantly searching for Li Xiangfei and the whereabouts of others.
However, when she switched to one of the screens, her expression froze.
A chilling feeling instantly spread throughout her body, and goosebumps erupted.
The computer screen showed… a black shadow was looking at her from outside the surveillance room window!
