Chapter Eleven: What Clues?
Seeing that the frantic and restless voice had finally quieted down, Qin Liu breathed a sigh of relief.
As expected of a fierce ghost… its temper seemed to have little rationality left.
However, since the other party could still communicate to some extent, Qin Liu picked up the pen that had been shaken to the ground and placed it back on the paper.
She continued to ask in a calm and steady tone.
“Are you male or female?”
The pen remained motionless in response to Qin Liu’s question.
Qin Liu then suddenly remembered that asking this way was incorrect, so she changed her approach.
“Are you male?”
The pen slowly moved and shifted to the word “No”.
“Female…”
This question-and-answer format seemed a bit slow and tedious.
Qin Liu recalled that this was how investigations were conducted in TV shows and movies.
First, determine the identity of the deceased, and then determine the murderer’s relationship through her identity and network of connections.
Currently, in this house, there was an invisible and intangible fierce ghost. Even if Qin Liu wanted to directly ask who the murderer was.
It was clear that she couldn’t speak, or rather, had no way to speak.
If that was the case, she could only proceed step by step.
Through the “Yes” and “No” on the Ouija board game, she would find the true murderer who killed her.
“Are you the owner of this house?”
“Yes.”
“For age… is it between 25-30?”
“Yes.”
It seemed the deceased was a very young woman.
Thinking of this, Qin Liu pondered a question.
After a moment of thought, she slowly spoke.
“Permit me to ask… are you the only fierce ghost in this house?”
In response to Qin Liu’s question, the master bedroom fell into an extremely strange silence.
The air also became extremely ice-cold, causing uncontrollable trembling.
After a full ten seconds of silence, the pen in front of Qin Liu moved.
It slowly shifted to the word “No”.
Seeing this, Qin Liu inexplicably began to feel a little scared.
A chilling sensation crept up her spine.
Don’t forget, she was afraid of ghosts.
She was genuinely, extremely afraid.
Especially this fear from the unknown made Qin Liu feel a little breathless.
She shifted her position and sat on Liu Haoyu’s bed.
This ghost exorcist was still asleep!
He was still asleep!
Qin Liu inwardly cursed as she tentatively shook Liu Haoyu’s body, but he showed no reaction.
If it weren’t for seeing him still breathing, Qin Liu would have suspected that this person had fallen into a deep sleep.
“Knock! Knock! Knock!”
Loud knocking sounds echoed in the house again.
Qin Liu could only shift her gaze back to the paper.
The pen on the paper stood upright, seemingly angered by Qin Liu’s recent distraction.
Qin Liu explained.
“The man behind me is a ghost exorcist. He’s very powerful and can definitely help you… um, do you need his help?”
Out of courtesy, Qin Liu still asked for the other party’s opinion.
“No!!”
The pen spun two and a half times before stopping.
This made Qin Liu start to speculate.
Seeing that the fierce ghost disliked men so much, could the murderer be male?
Considering this possibility, Qin Liu continued to ask the paper.
“Did your boyfriend kill you?”
“No.”
“Then it was someone you didn’t know?”
“Yes.”
Seeing this answer, Qin Liu’s head began to ache.
If it was a stranger who committed the crime, the scope of the investigation would be too vast.
Perhaps if she slept now and entered a dream, with the guide’s ability, she might find a shred of clue.
But the voice that kept ringing in Qin Liu’s mind made her hesitant to use the guide’s ability.
To be precise, she was afraid of abusing it, always feeling that using it too much would lead to something bad.
The house in front of her was a three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment. It seemed unusual for a girl to live alone in such a large place.
Could it be a shared apartment?
“Was the murderer your roommate?”
“No.”
Looking at the replies on the paper, Qin Liu’s mind was getting more and more confused.
She wasn’t someone who liked to use her brain. She really wanted to hand this kind of thing over to Liu Haoyu and just lie down herself.
But currently, this man seemed as if he hadn’t slept in eight hundred years. No matter how much she pushed or kicked him, he didn’t react.
If that was the case, then she could only rely on herself to figure out the truth.
So, Qin Liu continued to ask.
“Were there any clues left in this house?”
“Yes.”
Seeing this answer, Qin Liu was overjoyed and quickly said.
“There really is? Then where is the clue… no.”
Qin Liu covered her head and muttered.
“Asking like this, you won’t be able to answer either.”
As Qin Liu expected, the pen stopped in the center of the paper, unmoving.
“Was the clue the murder weapon?”
“No.”
“Was it fingerprints?”
“No.”
“…”
Qin Liu went through many options one by one. Seeing all the “No” answers, not only was she getting impatient, but the ghost in the room was also getting impatient.
Moreover, it should be known that there might be more than one ghost in this house, and now was not the time for idle chat.
Finally, a terrible possibility occurred to her.
Qin Liu secretly swallowed a mouthful of saliva and said with difficulty.
“Then… was it the corpse?”
Seeing the pen slowly land on “Yes”, Qin Liu felt her heart jump out of her throat.
The foul smell that Qin Liu and Liu Haoyu noticed when they entered the room was likely the odor emitted by the corpse.
This meant… the corpse was likely somewhere in this haunted house.
Where exactly was it?
The knocking sound that the fierce ghost had been making earlier sounded like it was hitting wooden boards.
So… could it be under the bed?
Qin Liu swallowed with difficulty, gathered her courage, and looked at the dark abyss under the bed.
The area under the bed was pitch black, and Qin Liu’s gaze struggled to focus. She tightly held the lantern in her hand and looked under the bed.
The faint light illuminated the area under the bed, and Qin Liu lowered her body.
“If you’re under the bed… don’t scare me, I’m a coward and can’t handle being scared.”
Qin Liu said as she looked under the bed.
However, the space under the bed was empty, with nothing there.
Seeing this, Qin Liu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She stood up and sat back on Liu Haoyu’s bed.
The girl’s hand landed on Liu Haoyu’s waist, and feeling his warm body eased her nervous emotions.
After calming down, she began to think.
She and Liu Haoyu were staying on the third floor.
And before entering the house, Qin Liu had noticed that besides the third floor, the lights on the second and fourth floors were on.
“Was your corpse on the third floor?”
Qin Liu continued to ask.
The pen on the paper slowly moved.
Soon, the pen stopped at “No”.
