Chapter 30 Waking Up
“And you are safe now, don’t worry.”
Youtan said with a calm tone, making Liu Haoyu’s blood run cold.
The only way to survive?
Safe now?
He swallowed hard.
“What about afterwards?”
“Afterwards?” Youtan chuckled, “How would I know? When I look at Qin Liu’s fate, all I see is fog, at most just a few blurred and indistinct images.”
Hearing this, Liu Haoyu spread his hands and said.
“And you’re the King of Rebirth.”
“She gives me the feeling that she’s not from this world, so you want me to look at an alien’s fate?”
Youtan’s voice gave Liu Haoyu the impression of “Are you kidding me?”.
“Another thing is, this book is my illusion, not my main body.”
“Fine.”
Liu Haoyu sighed.
Youtan continued.
“But there’s one thing you can rest assured about, you’ll be relatively safer from now on, as long as you don’t do anything stupid, you definitely won’t be killed by Qin Liu’s kitchen knife.”
“What are you talking about? I’m a very devoted person,”
Liu Haoyu said seriously.
“If I have any second thoughts, I’ll be struck by lightning.”
A slender hand slowly emerged from the black book and gave Liu Haoyu the middle finger.
“Before you say that, delete the pictures of white stockings on your phone, I’m begging you.”
“Those are my cherished collections from many years ago!”
Liu Haoyu certainly wouldn’t delete them, and even if they were deleted, he had several terabytes backed up on cloud storage.
“Forget it, forget it…”
Youtan stopped talking and closed the book.
The way back was safe and calm, with no stray ghosts or spirits appearing.
After an unknown amount of time, he saw a faint light appear ahead, like the silhouette of a door.
Liu Haoyu instinctively walked towards the light, and as he got closer, the light became more dazzling until it completely engulfed him.
His consciousness became blurred again, and he fell into a deep sleep.
——————
“This young man is quite strange.”
In his muzzy state, Liu Haoyu seemed to hear a voice.
“He’s lost so much blood, and he’s been bumped around for so long, he should have been dead by now.”
His fingers twitched slightly, and then he slowly opened his eyes.
In front of him were Deng Xiaolin and an unfamiliar nurse.
“That’s why I say, this is truly a miracle. Anyone else would have died on the way and wouldn’t have made it to the hospital.”
“How to put it… it’s like someone is keeping him barely alive?”
“Hao-ge?!”
While the nurse was speaking, Deng Xiaolin next to her noticed Liu Haoyu had opened his eyes.
The young girl excitedly lunged into his arms, almost suffocating him.
“Hiss… be gentle…”
Deng Xiaolin buried her face in the quilt, her tears falling onto the sheets.
For this young girl who had just lost her grandfather, losing another loved one would truly break her.
“Alright, alright,” the nurse comforted Deng Xiaolin, “It’s good that he’s awake, let him rest properly.”
“It’s okay,” Liu Haoyu licked his dry lips and asked Deng Xiaolin, “What time is it?”
“7 PM. You’ve been in a coma for three whole days, you scared us half to death, you know?”
Hearing Deng Xiaolin’s words, Liu Haoyu paused and quickly sat up.
He had been in a coma for so long?
Then what about Qin Liu?
Damn it! Won’t this girl have already gone to set fires everywhere?
Just as Liu Haoyu was getting anxious, a pair of hands gently hugged him from behind.
That familiar warmth made Liu Haoyu breathe a sigh of relief.
“Why are you getting up?” the nurse tried to push Liu Haoyu down, but couldn’t budge him. She said anxiously, “You need to be observed for another day before you can be discharged.”
“Oh… okay.”
Liu Haoyu lay back down.
To outsiders, he might have appeared to be lying on a pillow, but only he knew that he was lying on a young girl’s lap.
“Hao-ge, you rest well. I’ll go get you a bowl of porridge.”
Deng Xiaolin and the nurse left.
Liu Haoyu was left alone in the ward… or rather, one person and one ghost.
Qin Liu was kneeling behind Liu Haoyu, his head resting on the girl’s lap.
The girl remained silent, merely stroking Liu Haoyu’s hair.
After an unknown period of silence, Liu Haoyu smiled and said.
“I’m back.”
“You finally know how to come back.”
The girl said so, but the smile on her face couldn’t be hidden.
“If you wanted to come down and keep me company, you should have just said so. Don’t do such scary things.”
“How could that be…” Liu Haoyu cleared his throat, “I cherish my life very much, you know.”
“I don’t think so.”
Qin Liu pouted and then said.
“But you have to thank that person named Chang Wenxu, and the black book in your backpack.”
“Chang Wenxu… speaking of which, how is he?”
“Due to overexertion, he suffered rhabdomyolysis, but it’s not serious. He woke up a day before you.”
Chang Wenxu carried Liu Haoyu, whose physique was not much different from his own, for nearly 8 kilometers, running all the way to the hospital. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say he was like a superman.
“That’s good…”
A stone in Liu Haoyu’s heart was lifted. Chang Wenxu, as one of his few surviving good brothers, he really didn’t want anything to happen to him.
But thanks to the black book?
Did Qin Liu also know the identity of the black book?
Qin Liu seemed to see the confusion on Liu Haoyu’s face and explained.
“Others might not be able to see it, but I can clearly see that the same aura of resentment that the black book emits has been surrounding you. Before I arrived, it should have been protecting your soul.”
“So you should thank it too.”
“Is that so…”
Liu Haoyu thought he was just lucky, but he didn’t expect that this tsundere black book had also secretly saved his life, and she hadn’t mentioned it all this time.
But it was indeed quite touching.
With that thought, Liu Haoyu reached into his backpack to search for the black book.
After searching for a while, he realized…
Where was his book?
Where was that large book?
Could it be that this thing had grown legs and run away… No, it actually had a pair of long legs that could run.
“I’m here…”
Just as Liu Haoyu was confused, a deep resentment emanated from beneath the hospital bed.
Liu Haoyu immediately looked down and saw that his black book had been used by someone to prop up a table leg.
Who would dare to use his good brother to prop up a table leg?!
“Who else could it be?” Youtan stared at Liu Haoyu, “Of course, it was your good sister who did it.”
“Then it’s nothing.”
Liu Haoyu lay back on the hospital bed.
“At least get me out from under the table first!”
