Chapter 22: The World in the Mirror
Seeing the ghost hand suddenly attack, Shen Qiumeng was startled. She wanted to dodge, but her reaction ability had declined significantly with age.
Even if she saw it, dodging was impossible.
But fortunately, Qin Liu grabbed her and took out a talisman, blasting it at the ghost hand.
“Zhenlei Talisman!”
The flashing thunder instantly enveloped the ghost hand, but for some reason, the Zhenlei Talisman, which specialized in attacking ghosts, did not cause any damage to the Mirror Ghost.
It could only be repelled.
But even so, it was enough.
Qin Liu quickly stepped forward, threw the mirror out the door, locked the door completely, and then attached a talisman to it.
This talisman should be able to stop the Mirror Ghosts from entering.
But that was only if there were no mirrors in the house.
So, thinking of this, Qin Liu said to Shen Qiumeng.
“Where is the way to the attic?!”
Shen Qiumeng pointed to the beam not far away, where a wooden ladder was hanging down.
“You can go up to the attic from here!”
“I’ll go check if there are any other mirrors in this house. You stay here first.”
“Okay.”
Shen Qiumeng nodded. After all, she was just an ordinary person. Although she had some knowledge of ghost exorcism, it was basically impossible for her to deal with ghosts.
In this situation, she did not dare to move around.
Qin Liu climbed up the ladder.
It was better to say that she couldn’t float, but as before, with this body, she would try not to use her abilities if she could.
After all, if she really died… she didn’t want to wait for decades.
After climbing the ladder to the attic, Qin Liu found herself in a place similar to a warehouse.
But to her dismay, there were mirrors here, and not just one.
Before Qin Liu could even get her footing after coming up, the mirror suddenly rippled, and the grudges in the air became even more intense.
The Mirror Ghosts wandering around the village seemed to have also discovered Shen Qiumeng’s presence, so as Qin Liu watched, six arms penetrated the glass simultaneously, as if trying to emerge from the mirror.
What was even more desperate was that there was a skylight in the attic, and Li Rongjun’s face was pressed against the window, his greedy and bloodthirsty gaze fixed on Qin Liu.
“Be careful!”
Shen Qiumeng downstairs clearly saw the Mirror Ghost’s body pass through the skylight glass and pounce towards Qin Liu.
Qin Liu had no choice but to float up like a ghost to dodge the Mirror Ghost’s attack, then grabbed the lantern and smashed it hard at its head.
The lantern’s flame instantly ignited Li Rongjun’s body, and the ethereal blue light illuminated the entire room.
Li Rongjun, turned into a fireball, did not die. His soul had long since dissipated, so without a soul, the effect of the Soul Guiding Lantern’s flame was greatly reduced.
But fortunately, the flames still broke his attack rhythm, allowing Qin Liu to kick him down.
Li Rongjun lost his balance and fell onto the floorboards on the first floor, making a heavy thud.
Seeing that it still wanted to get up, Qin Liu ignored the Mirror Ghosts still trying to climb out of the mirrors and jumped down, delivering a fierce kick to Li Rongjun’s head.
“Crack!”
Li Rongjun’s head, struggling on the ground, exploded like a watermelon hit by a baseball bat.
The foul-smelling corpse fluid and rotten smell made Qin Liu’s stomach turn.
But even without its head, the Mirror Ghost was not dead. Burning with flames, it was still struggling on the ground.
This soulless flesh puppet seemed to be immortal.
What was even more desperate was that footsteps were now heard in the attic, meaning that more Mirror Ghosts had entered the house.
The Mirror Ghost at her feet had not yet been burned to death, and now more Mirror Ghosts had arrived.
The situation was extremely grim, and there was also an unarmed old woman in the house.
However, thinking that the target was Shen Qiumeng, Qin Liu put aside her concerns and said to Shen Qiumeng.
“You run first!”
“…Okay!”
Shen Qiumeng also understood that she couldn’t help in this situation. She gritted her teeth and rushed towards the main door of the house.
She broke open the door, trying to escape into the outside world.
However, as soon as she opened the door, she was met by a man in a black trench coat, wearing a gas mask, and holding a fire axe.
Seeing this man, who looked like a wicked thug, Shen Qiumeng was greatly startled. She took a step back, and the man took a step into the house until he was completely inside.
Feeling the stench of rotten dead pigs in the air, the man tightened his gas mask, then held three Zhenlei Talismans and said to Qin Liu.
“Crouch!”
Hearing Liu Haoyu’s voice, Qin Liu understood and immediately crouched down.
Then, three bolts of lightning shot out, hitting the three Mirror Ghosts trying to pounce from the attic.
They stumbled and fell to the ground, but as before, these Mirror Ghosts did not suffer much damage.
Even the Mirror Ghost at Qin Liu’s feet, which was almost burned to ashes, was still alive.
Even as Mirror Ghosts, their vitality was too outrageous, wasn’t it?
As the two of them stood their ground, Shen Qiumeng continued.
“This is the world within the mirror, you can’t kill these monsters! Run while they haven’t gotten up yet!”
Shen Qiumeng seemed to know these Mirror Ghosts very well, so Liu Haoyu and Qin Liu decided to believe her words.
After repelling the four Mirror Ghosts again, the three of them fled to another house as quickly as possible.
Upon entering the house, Qin Liu immediately threw out all the mirrors and secured the door with layers upon layers of talismans.
After finishing all this, Liu Haoyu and Qin Liu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
The man looked at the outside world through the door crack.
After the talismans were attached, the Mirror Ghosts could no longer lock onto their aura and could only wander aimlessly in this place, just like before.
“So,” Qin Liu asked Liu Haoyu, “how did you get here?”
“That’s a long story…”
“Then make it a short one.”
Liu Haoyu looked at Qin Liu and briefly explained what had happened since he woke up, and only then did she understand.
After listening to Liu Haoyu’s words, Shen Qiumeng fell silent.
She opened her mouth, hesitated for a moment, and then said.
“I think the Gu Wanxue you mentioned…”
“I saw her this morning.”
“At that time, she took out a knife by the well at the entrance of the village, tore her clothes, and carved something on her chest with the knife.”
“After carving, she jumped into the well. I guess… she must be dead.”
