Chapter 79: The Grand Battle (3)
Ji Ma personally reconnoitered, standing on the floating island, observing the siege below, like a god overlooking the mortal realm.
Tarabek City, as a province of the Tarabek territory, is vast, with lush mountains, water, an expansive dock, and tall walls that shelter the land of civilization.
Now, the demon army was attacking from all sides of the city walls, their forces overwhelming, with at least five times the spread of demonic troops throughout the city. Each wall corresponded to a formation of blue and pink demons, screaming as they hurled colorful magical fire at the walls, bombarding and igniting the towers.
A squad of twenty-four from the White Knight Order charged with the defenders, behind them were swarms of blue rage demons, descending upon and tearing at the fallen knights.
Below the towers was a massive throng of cultists and marauders, composed of either the demon army or northern warriors, most of whom bore minor cuts, serving as an essential backbone of the demon forces.
Fluctuations in the magical winds were needed to maintain the demons’ presence.
Yet the blood demons showed no sign of any ranged weapons. The howling demon army and the blood-draining ghouls, alongside bare-chested berserkers, roared and charged down the siege ladders, spilling their blood or that of their enemies.
A bloodthirsty beast flapped its wings, joining the rage demons in a murderous rampage atop the city walls.
On the side of the combat, it resembled a human truly possessed by a demon, filled with anguish, battling fiercely against the city walls.
Over in the area of color demons, a mass of white bodies surged along the walls.
Ji Ma looked again.
The moat on the towers was already filled, and with multiple breaches in the city ditch, the defenders were nearing their limits.
She witnessed, driven by Sigma’s digits, the desperate men and women among the civilian population shouting for redemption, wielding makeshift weapons to block the gaps in the walls.
There were piles of dead bodies lying in the streets, with the cries of despair echoing all around.
In front of them were bloodthirsty demons brandishing blood-soaked axes, cautious flame swords blazing, the distorted mirrors reflecting the wickedness of the blood demons, and the thin figures crawling with vengeful spirits.
She looked once more, in despair and fury, swinging that purple axe, the mirror of the deceased female swordsman, along with blood blades, upon the demon army, resulting in a cascade of blood, shattering and rotting, falling dead.
Surrender was inevitable, but it could hold out for a while.
Ji Ma concluded.
This grand war had infected the entirety of Tarabek City;
“I love! I want! Quickly give me! Give me! Oh! Blood! Oh, them! Don’t—”
Ji Ma clapped her hands, and the ecstatic demon army surged forth, silencing the branches and axes.
She continued to observe the encircling forces, estimating their size to be over a hundred thousand, a substantial force, while many factions had not yet joined the siege and watched from behind.
Among them were numerous light troops with high elite status, including monster infantry, concentrated divisions, white beasts, and mobile units, even the renowned chosen ones—Ji Ma regarded them as the strongest infantry units in the world.
This seemed unfair because each of them was a powerhouse. Yet, in pursuit of slaughter and greater accumulation of spiritual power, they willingly banded together as common soldiers.
Ji Ma thought of the lord of Shara City, unable to recall his name, only remembering he was the subordinate who trafficked her, selling strength.
On Colosseum TV, they faced the enemy, and it wasn’t that they couldn’t win against the chosen ones.
And there were easily a hundred chosen ones, all wielding shining long spears, watching from a small hillside by the riverside in the distance.
“Tomorrow,” Ji Ma thought to herself, cursing the eternal chosen yet again.
These three demon armies, plus those farther from Tarabek City, formed a chaotic beast horde on the battlefield – a horde of beastmen.
They were likely the four armies set to destroy her.
Ji Ma evaluated the precision and strength of the demon forces, estimating them at about eighty percent of the vanguard units, a conservative estimate, with a force ratio of about 1:3.
2. This was still calculating the four demon armies plus the doomsday army far from Tarabek territory.
The troop ratio could even reach 1:10 or higher.
Still, it meant saving a few.
Ji Ma recalled the day before yesterday, during a dream encounter when she hoped that, if possible, she might save Tarabek City.
Her heart was uneasy.
Of course, she would not admit that the main reason for her unease was her yearning for Haikou, and George too, did not wish to see Tarabek City fall.
In price, the cost was for a massage, kid, do it well. Mmm, oh, oh-oh, oh, that feels great, you really have a talent for serving people, hehe.
She also asked the Jenna Legion if her self-assessed legion was formidable enough to truly save Tarabek City.
Jenna looked horrified, “Really?”
“Really,” Ji Ma said, “We also recognize the importance of Tarabek City. Without it, the imperial army might launch an assault on Marus. Of course, if we can save the innocent people, Jenna really should first figure it out with George before taking a breather with her; otherwise, my focus won’t linger on Jenna for long, I’d accidentally start bragging.”
Given the current situation, her desire to launch an assault was minimal, with such powerful opponents, they would likely face total annihilation.
Just like a faint glimmer of light flashing in the darkness.
The wind changed direction, perfectly blowing from the forest attacked by the Blood God. The blood of these demon forces who worshipped the Blood God was thick with the scent of blood, carried along by the wind.
“Bleat~”
A sheep’s cry sounded from a distance.
Ji Ma keenly felt something; she turned around and cast her gaze at the chaotic beast horde in the forest.
From the forest emerged a group of male centaurs, bull-headed beasts, horned beasts, and beastmen, their eyes reddened, blankly gazing at Tarabek City as they couldn’t help but move toward the city.
Within the city, there was also a figure of a white beast.
Ji Ma’s eyes widened, and her nose sniffed, catching the scent of the blood the beasts were about to spill.
This was a glimmer of opportunity, a chance for a surprise attack.
Ji Ma navigated the floating island toward the direction of her army.
At this moment, the time for the annoying creature that liked to mimic her voice, calling itself “Extreme Gun Gun” had passed.
It started yelling:
“Blood! Blood! So much blood! Don’t leave! Don’t throw—”
“What?” Ji Ma’s face darkened as she forcefully tapped the sharp spikes of the floating island with her branch spear, adding, “If you keep babbling nonsense, do you see that green giant filth? I swear I’ll take your eyeballs.”
The branch spear was heavy, likely inheriting the Blood God’s traits, not taking the green giant’s threat seriously.
Ji Ma said, “Wait a moment, there’ll be more medicinal blood for you to drink.”
She had no choice but to expend her magical energy to silence it again.
Perfectly, she floated past the mutated forest, below was a group of sheep-goat armor beasts, their expressions familiar, wielding cleavers, ugly-faced—humans would shrink back from the forest butchers.
Ji Ma looked down, muttering to herself, “So much grass needing to be gathered.”
Could they conquer Tarabek City with eighty percent certainty?
But given this moment, with a hefty cleaver, Ji Ma felt quite confident.
She returned to the hidden location of her army.
Several demon warriors were bare-chested, amusing themselves with fights. The spectators nearby looked quite displeased, cursing, “They can’t even take up weapons, the warriors of the Blood God have long gone without experiencing the craving for slaughter.”
A few disguised centaur-beasts were immersed in the allure of the color succubus, engaging in suggestive acts.
After Ji Ma appeared, she caught the scent of the succubus entangled around the strong bodies of the centaur-beasts and hastily said:
“King! That band of fresh beasts has already finished playing with the troops.”
“It’s fine,” Ji Ma suddenly heard a suspicious voice from below, “We have kept this matter confidential now.”
“Shall we launch a surprise attack?” asked a pink demon military adviser, “This is indeed a good opportunity.”
“Yes.”
Ji Ma raised her commanding rod, and the beasts of the shrine all circled around her based on their ranks, the chief tribe being her land.
“All stars forward! Close combat in the front!”
Then, the horn sounded.
Ji Ma loved to set mission objectives, and she specified the tasks, stating the combat goals aloud.
She flew towards the blood god’s demon warriors and shouted:
“Equip me with long spears; my target is to attack the white beasts among the beastmen, and stab that magic-using beastman shaman to death.”
“Beyond that, kill as many white beasts as you can, and incapacitate as many centaur-beasts as possible. Afterward, I’ll assess the situation and give you orders for continued rescue missions. Those who do not obey military commands, I will torment until death, understood?”
“Understood, King!”
The blood god’s demon warriors were thrilled, and to show they understood well, one blood god warrior charged forward with a long spear, directly chopping down a centaur-beast that was engaging in despicable acts with the color succubus.
This caused a gust of wind, successfully buying them some time.
Ji Ma took a deep breath, thinking, I feel just like a kindergarten teacher!
Before they set off, she began to select forces for the mission.
She chose all the demon warriors, outfitting them with the only blood god war altar, and selected a strong, towering monster from a demon warrior unit. All ten chosen warriors from the entirety of the year were certainly included.
Then she included all the color succubi, who were to bind and fly alongside the divine flame demon.
Nearly all the essence of the vanguard unit was taken away, leaving only around two thousand one hundred mortal troops to rest and prepare adequately.
Forty minutes had passed.
All beasts of the chaotic battle group gathered at the river’s edge of the battlefield.
Ji Ma sought to enter the arena of slaughter, watching the horde approaching Tarabek City, looking at the river surface, hoping that fresh blood and flesh would emerge.
At the riverbank, many horned beasts stood inhaling the scent of blood in the air.
“Quick, look, what’s that?”
Two beasts standing at the edge of the city and forest turned around and saw a well-trained demon army approaching in the forest.
Leading the front line was a second blood-armored demon army.
“Why is another group coming to assist? Isn’t the division here enough?”
“Strange, why are there still pink succubi?”
This demon army was getting closer.
A reconnaissance centaur-beast, in a hurry, waved its arms and silent shouted, trying to warn its kind. It returned with wispy fog, unable to speak for some reason, sadly, the beastmen had no writing.
“What are you doing? The large horned beast shoved him aside: I still want to see if there’s anything that can reveal the enemy’s condition.”
The demon warriors, clad in armor, moved slowly, having passed by this group of beastmen, now only two hundred meters away.
The centaur-beasts strained their voices but could not make a sound. The demon warriors halted, unfolding their ranks into battle formation. Many beastmen sensed something was off, and suddenly a loud horn sounded.
“Charge!”
The second horned cavalry led the charge, holding their spears high, rushing toward the backs of the beastmen, behind them surged a wave of blood-red steel.
