**Chapter 144: An Era of Peace**
As the last demon army perished, the world returned to a terrifying silence. Moreover, it seemed as though the world had been swallowed by the void, with all things holding their breath in anticipation, waiting for the first rumble of thunder.
Afterward, everything revived once more; they were not born out of death, but rather, they lived for the sake of life. A bird’s call shattered the tranquility, first prompting a moment’s hesitation, then leading to the incessant din of countless birds and beasts. On the blood-soaked battlefield, clear dust, accompanied by a gentle breeze, covered the bodies of soldiers. The silence seemed to be broken, as bloodied veterans, survivors of the war, and refugees all wept heart-wrenchingly for this insignificant victory and peace, and for their own meager existence.
The war that swept across the world had ended many years ago. In the old world, people had nearly completely emerged from the shadow of that apocalyptic war.
On the streets of Marinburg near the docks, a blacksmith swung his forging hammer, beating a glowing iron block, preparing to forge a hoe.
An elderly veteran with white hair suddenly went mad upon seeing the glowing iron. He unsteadily drew his sword and shouted:
“People of Sigma! Fight for our right to live. Hold the line!”
Only then did the passersby recall something, saying:
“In my grandfather’s time, there seemed to be an invasion by demons?”
“Yes, old Weir seems to be the only one left alive from his unit.”
A silver-white carriage, pulled by elegant white elven horses, passed by the crazed old Weir, carrying the salty sea breeze. A beautiful young elven girl leaned on the window frame and said:
“What’s this short-lived one going crazy about?”
The male elf sitting across from her tapped her head sharply and said:
“Show some respect! He is a veteran from the last apocalyptic war.”
“Oh.” The elven girl with waist-length golden hair pouted: “Brother is hitting me again.”
The male elf said:
“Stop the carriage.”
The carriage halted, and the male elf stepped down to talk with the veteran.
The elven girl looked out the window, feeling bored, until she noticed a few human mercenaries arguing due to the clash of sword sheaths. Her green eyes, like those of a doe, turned towards them.
“I’m a silver adventurer, why are you being so arrogant, you bronze one?”
“Oh? I saw a troll killed; there was no time for promotion. You’re a silver in front of me, like a goblin; I can take you down with one sword!”
However, after watching for a while, the elven girl grew disinterested because neither of them actually fought.
The carriage door opened, and the male elf returned. The elven girl, feeling bored, swung her slender white legs, kicking off her little leather shoes, which fell onto the carpet.
“Aerina.” The male elf closed the door: “You need to be quieter.”
“Brother.” Aerina sweetly smiled at him: “Help me put on my shoes.” As she spoke, she wiggled her toes.
“No, you do it yourself.”
“But you’re my brother; isn’t it normal for a brother to help his sister?” Aerina said, her gaze falling on her brother’s waist: “Brother? Where’s your sword?”
The carriage began to move slowly.
“I gave it to him; if he can sell it, it might improve his situation.”
“What? That was your sword… Last time, when I made it rust, you even spanked me.” Aerina said: “And now you casually give it away to a short-lived one? Ouch!”
“I told you to respect veterans. Now hurry up and put on your shoes.”
“Froggiza.”
Aerina called his name directly, bending down to put on her shoes, “Really.”
“Addressing someone by their name like that is impolite; I am your brother, you should…”
Froggiza, Froggiza, Froggiza, Froggiza…
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Aerina covered her head, swearing to cut ties with him, but her brother ruffled her hair, and she quickly discarded her previous vow.
She asked, “Why must we respect veterans, Brother?”
“Before you were born, I experienced the apocalyptic war and defended our nation with Lord Osuan against the invading demon army; it was like hell.”
Aerina curiously asked, “What was so hellish about it?”
Froggiza started the topic: “…Moreover, our clan initially split because there was no respect for veterans. Those who returned home alongside the first Phoenix King after fighting off the demon armies, many of them became like today’s old soldiers, suffering from ailments as a sacrifice to protect their homeland, yet were ridiculed by the nobility.
Later, the Witch King poisoned the Phoenix King of the time, raising a call to give dignity to everyone, and those veterans followed him, and they became the original Duruchi.”
Saying this, Froggiza patted Aerina’s fluffy head: “That war was worse than a nightmare, sweeping across the world. Every veteran who survived that war, regardless of race or gender, is my comrade.”
Aerina nodded, seeming to understand.
“By the way, Brother. Just now I saw two short-lived beings arguing, saying things like ‘I’m silver, you’re bronze.’ What does that mean in human language?”
“That was the saint lady in Marin City promoting battle ranking certification.” Froggiza explained: “It’s to prevent misjudging enemy and ally strength and causing conflict, and also to assist the Adventurers’ Guild in determining task difficulty levels, so groups of newcomers don’t take weapons into forests to fight goblins.”
“Sounds strange.”
“She is from the Church of the Holy Temple and likes to make everything clear.” Froggiza said: “When you meet her, you must show great respect, as if you are meeting the Phoenix King himself. She has faced the Eternal Chosen One during the Battle of Adolf.”
Aerina immediately sat up straight, her two white-silk-clad legs together, hands resting on her knees, back straight, exuding a graceful aura: “Alright, Brother, how should I address that lady?”
“Call her Jenna, respectfully addressing her as the Saint Lady.”
Got it.
Fifteen minutes later.
In the reception hall of the Marius family’s estate, they met the Saint Lady Jenna.
She was shrouded in a faint silver light, eyes covered by black cloth, donned in a silver silk robe, with a full figure, and adorned with a silver chain and perfume burner on her snowy-white wrists. She walked slowly into the hall, her warm, gentle smile dispelling the sense of distance brought by her noble demeanor.
“It’s a pleasure to see you.” Saint Lady Jenna said, not yet taking a seat, as she carried a shield on her back and had a bell hanging at her waist, “Your Excellency Ambassador, we meet again.”
Froggiza nodded in acknowledgment: “It’s an honor to meet you, esteemed Saint Lady. On this beautiful day, meeting a hero who defended against the invasion of the apocalyptic army is truly an honor.”
Aerina lifted her skirt with both hands, curtsying while curiously looking at the blind saint.
“I’m glad to meet you, Saint Lady; I am the Ambassador Froggiza’s sister. May I call you sister? You look so young.”
Saint Lady Jenna smiled: “What a lovely child you are.”
Aerina displayed her white teeth: “Sister Jenna.”
“Ambassador, may I ask what your sister’s name is?”
“Aerina.”
She truly is adorable.
“I agree; having a cute, understanding, and obedient sister is one of the greatest blessings of my life.” Froggiza stroked Aerina’s head: “Obedient sister, please wait outside; we have important matters to discuss.”
Aerina gazed at Saint Lady Jenna’s oval face and her ample bosom, then looked back at her brother, making a face at him: “Alright, Brother, obedient sister will wait for you outside.”
Saying this, she slowly walked out, closing the door quietly behind her.
Saint Lady Jenna suddenly said: “Actually, your sister seems quite mischievous.”
“Saint Lady, you have such keen insight; even without eyes, you see clearer than others.” Froggiza admitted generously: “Everyone thinks my sister is well-behaved, but actually, beneath the surface, she’s a little miss who doesn’t respect her elders at all, giving many of them nicknames, even sparing no one, not even Lord Osuan.”
“It’s good for children to be a bit naughty when they’re young; is there some secret?”
“A letter of urgency from the Island Fleet.” Froggiza lowered his voice: “Codename: Arousal.”
“Could you read the contents of the letter for me?” Saint Lady Jenna said: “I cannot see the text.”
“This… the rank is too high; it’s not something an elf of my level can access. The Duruchi have already found at least a couple of dozen spies seeking to glimpse the secret, involving countless evil rituals of demonkind.”
“I trust you; you are a pure person.”
Ambassador Froggiza did not hesitate; he crushed the wax seal on the envelope with his bare hands, drew out the letter, and read aloud: “… The sealed Eternal Chosen One has shown signs of revival. The sound of a heartbeat has come from behind the sealing door, and through prophetic spells, it can be discerned that within the originally tainted mass of flesh, a humanoid figure is faintly visible…”
“Gee, Mah…”
Saint Lady Jenna whispered: “Are you finally coming back to life?”
“Is the rumor true? Please forgive my curiosity.”
“After so many years, it’s no longer a secret.” Saint Lady Jenna said: “Yes, the Demon King Geema is not completely dead; or rather, she should be called the Eternal Chosen One. My husband George believes she will revive, but it will take time. The Demon King’s crown has absorbed too much corruption, thus her corpse continuously radiates corruption into the outside world, making it impossible to halt.”
“To prevent her from falling into the hands of demons or evil creatures and giving rise to a new Eternal Chosen One, we ultimately decided to place her body on your dragon ship and protect it with a fleet, constantly sailing on the sea.”
Ambassador Froggiza said: “Indeed, our high elves’ fleet is the strongest in the world; only we can accomplish this.”
“Alright, I have urgent matters to notify my husband about.”
Saint Lady Jenna looked towards the west, where the high elf fleet lay, revealing a gentle smile: “I truly miss Geema.”
“Bang!”
In the deepest part of the dragon ship, behind four metal magical gates, the coffin lid was flung open, crashing against the ceiling and finally landing on the floor, which was covered with decayed flesh.
The sleeping beauty in the coffin suddenly straightened up, her face incredibly beautiful and mature. She leaned on the edge of the coffin, her soft black hair cascading over her shoulders. She waved her hand in front of her face, golden eyes looking at you, a mischievous smile appearing on her face:
“It seems someone misses me. Let me see if anyone is crying for this king.”
The fifth volume of the Apocalypse War has concluded.
Oh, and by the way, after finishing, the new book will be released quickly. If I feel good, it will be published immediately after the conclusion, seamlessly connecting. The main character is named Aerina, and she has a brother—let’s let them drop by the old book for a visit.
You can check the specific settings of the new book in the group announcement.
