Chapter Seven Everyone in the Community Likes Her
Lin Feng sat in the empty hall on the only wooden “sofa.” The TV was showing the end credits of “Dog Special Forces.” In the kitchen, Lin Ji, with her petite and cute figure, was mopping the floor.
If parents had a daughter like her, they would surely be grinning ear to ear.
But Lin Feng didn’t have that; while fiddling with her hair, she was still contemplating her feelings for Lin Ji.
This girl looked so much like her mother, both being succubi, naturally gifted with the ability to bring happiness to others. Was it her instinct to enslave others and make them happy that made her act this way?
Lin Feng thought to herself, running her fingers through her hair, only to discover it had turned silver-white, which troubled her even more. Using hair dye would mean stepping out with a head full of white hair, putting her at the risk of serious trouble, but she had to go to the neighborhood committee to pick up oil, rice, and salt.
A cheerful voice called out, “Mom, I’m going out to play.”
Lin Feng looked up and saw Lin Ji holding a second-hand electronic counting jump rope, which Lin Feng had bought from a second-hand platform. She was quite pleased; instead of wearing old clothes, she was dressed in outfits others had used.
Look at that little devil. Just see what kind of life your daughter is living.
But Lin Ji was happy, always cheerful and lively. It made Lin Feng feel a slight twinge of guilt.
No, it was very likely Lin Ji’s plot.
Lin Feng made a stern face and said: “I told you, don’t call me mom. Play as long as you want. If you get kidnapped or sold, I’d be liberated.”
“Okay, Mom.”
Taking advantage of Lin Feng’s sour face, Lin Ji quickly shut the door, and the sound of her silver bell-like laughter faded away.
Really, Lin Feng muttered to herself as she sat on the wooden sofa, staring at the insufficient balance to buy hair dye for the whole community, and continued to fall into self-reflection.
What to do? Where can I scrape together some money?
Lin Feng thought about how she now had to think deeply just to make a few dozen bucks.
Most of her prior expenses were covered by relying on her looks to dupe men out of money. However, online scams about inventing stories could net her tens of thousands and then vanish. In the beginning, earning tens of thousands in salary, Lin Feng, who had many female companions, understood and personally dealt with some “pick-up” tactics.
Unfortunately, Lin Feng looked down on those simps from the bottom of her heart, even unwilling to flatter them a little, and over time, the simps all became slick. A few crazed simps even wanted to come knock on her door, but thankfully she left behind a false address.
How could money disappear so quickly?
Lin Feng reflected on the gifts and money once offered by simps, falling into contemplation.
Her fingers intertwined in her hair, and before she knew it, her hair had turned snow white.
Forget it.
Lin Feng thought, it’s better to starve to death.
With this thought, Lin Feng stood up, slipped on her shoes, and walked back to her room, which had a soft, fluffy bed that was the most expensive piece of furniture in the house. Lying down, Lin Feng finally felt a hint of living in the past.
She scrolled through short videos on her phone, looking at outfit ideas and various trendy social media content.
By evening, the truth from eleven years ago was revealed — the Demon Queen merely wanted women to lead happy lives.
The witch cried bitterly; a soldier once threatened her with a gun, demanding she take off her underwear.
The Demon Queen’s servant said that during the Demon King era, the Demon King treated them very well and gently, with magical occurrences happening daily…
A former high-ranking official from the Fire Spirit Organization admitted that overthrowing the Demon King was merely for the sake of gaining fame.
Large-scale commemorative events were held by the joyous sect in America, with multiple supporters fainting from emotion.
Secret! The Demon King once cured a child born with depression, heart disease, and disabilities…
Lin Feng scoffed and started playing mobile games. While mobile games were somewhat outdated, many people still played. After posting her character lineup in a group, she garnered some admiration. After earning the title of a wealthy second-generation, she felt much more at ease and continued to entertain herself.
On the other side.
Lin Ji was jumping rope in the community square, mostly filled with elderly people. Young and middle-aged folks were hiding at home, either playing VR games or on their phones. Lin Ji felt out of place; she ran downstairs, cupped her hands around her mouth like a megaphone, and shouted, “Hey! Friends, come out and play!”
After a few calls, many children put down their phones and pens.
“Mom, I want to go out to play!” a chubby boy wearing a red scarf shouted to his mother.
“Play, play, play, all day you only think about playing!”
His mother, dressed in a pink top, turned around; she was wearing wireless VR goggles and hand sensors, running on a treadmill facing the square. She pushed a few buttons in the air and could see the chubby boy through the VR headset’s camera.
“Not today. After finishing your homework, you can exercise with your dad, then play your game console.”
“No, I want to play with my sister.”
“You can play on the console until ten o’clock today.”
“No, I want to go out and exercise.”
“Go with your dad, be good!”
“No!”
As the chubby boy’s mother raised her hand, the security door at home made a locking sound.
“Well, you can’t go out today. Didn’t you always play with Ji Ji before? Now you’re not allowed.”
The chubby boy lowered his head, retreating to his room.
His mother pressed some buttons in the air, and the green indicator light on the VR headset lit up. She typed in the air, saying, “Honey, our child is really driven crazy, insisting on going out to play when he usually prefers playing video games.”
“If he wants to go out, just let him; he’s just a kid.”
“Is it that little girl who insists on being called a sister? Why don’t you show a bit of responsibility as a father? Last time in the group chat, you were also for that.”
“Don’t think I don’t know, you men just like those short girls with long legs, calling them ‘legally loli.’”
“Dear, you’ve misunderstood…”
“Misunderstood what?”
“It’s common knowledge she’s a promiscuous girl; it’s gone viral in the group. I was just…”
“Just what?”
Lin Ji was still waiting downstairs while windows opened to reveal the disappointed faces of her friends.
“I can’t; my mom won’t let me.”
“My dad said I can’t play with you!”
“I have things to do today; I can’t come down.”
In the great little community, those four friends all chose not to come out to play. For a moment, Lin Ji also felt bored and dejected, asking, “Why is no one playing with me?”
But just a few seconds later, she spotted a dog without a leash in the grass.
Lin Ji called out, “Dog Special Forces! Why are you playing alone?”
Hearing her words, the dog lifted its head under the lights, tongue out, tail wagging.
Such a happy dog. I see, you can have fun too. Lin Ji smiled and said, “I understand, thank you, Dog Special Forces.”
Saying this, Lin Ji, with her dexterous and powerful legs, began to nimbly hop backward, step by step, to the center of the square. The elderly waved fans to shoo away mosquitoes and the heat, while the intelligent sprinklers in the bushes sprayed mist over a swarm of mosquitoes.
She hopped backward while jumping rope, like a joyful little deer in the forest, her shiny black hair bouncing with her rhythm.
One, two, three, four…
The rope swung faster and faster, making a whooshing sound in the air.
Woof woof.
A few small dogs, attracted by her joyful aura, ran over.
“Woof! Don’t go over, come back!”
Someone called in fear, worried the little dogs might go wild.
But they merely wagged their tails, sitting by Lin Ji, making her laugh even more.
“Want to join in? Come play with me!”
Woof woof.
A brave little poodle approached, diving into Lin Ji’s jump rope and jumping alongside her: one, two, three… Lin Ji giggled. The people around couldn’t help but be infected by her laughter, smiling in return.
Nearby, some were so mesmerized they pulled out their phones to capture the moment on video.
At home, Lin Feng, who stayed on the second floor, stretched lazily, yawned, and checked the time: it was already 9:30, why hadn’t the little devil returned?
Lin Feng finally got up lazily, pulled back the curtains, and looked out at the community square.
Goodness, men and women of all ages were gathered around her, all with smiles on their faces. She saw Lin Ji competing in jump rope with an adult man.
“Just like her mother,” Lin Feng let go of the curtains but didn’t find it that exaggerated; at least the dogs nearby wouldn’t play with her.
It is said that the Demon Queen Ji Ma can make all cute animals like her.
Lin Feng pulled up the curtains and shut the window, isolating the sounds of laughter and joy outside.
For some reason, her mood was quite good, but people in the room were still pursuing something. Lin Feng suddenly thought of a method. She found four bottles full of empty containers and some leftover dye, opened one, and rubbed her finger inside.
Indeed there was some left.
Lin Feng still couldn’t change; items like shampoo could not be wasted limitlessly. Since there was only a bit left, it was hardly worth the effort and time to try and squeeze out that little fluid.
But things were different now.
She collected the dye from one bottle after another, filling them up herself and breaking into a sweat.
“It can last for a little while.” Lin Feng could hardly believe she persisted with this troublesome task, achieving a good result, “So good.”
Creak.
The sound of the security door opening.
No way, Lin Ji’s head peeked out from the bathroom, also drenched in sweat: “Mom, I’m back!”
“Oh, got it.”
Lin Ji waved her hand and said, “Quick, take a shower and sleep.”
“Okay, Mom, you look so beautiful with your white hair.”
“Roll.”
Neither of them knew that a video of Lin Ji laughing and jumping rope with the little dogs had been uploaded to a video site. They hadn’t been on long, but in just two hours, it had already garnered over a hundred thousand views, catching the media’s attention.
