Chapter 57: Preparing to Execute (Part 2)
Ji Ma agreed with George’s plan; Eve Frostleaf needed rest, and she herself needed to practice her extraordinary abilities.
After all, acquiring new extraordinary powers is not as simple as pressing a button in a video game for the character to unleash a skill. Even in video games, new heroes require a familiarization period.
Ji Ma was once again grateful for her system. Although the skill descriptions provided by the system were always vague and many details of her extraordinary abilities needed to be tested personally, it was still better than others who had to figure things out on their own.
As Ji Ma spread her wings, ready to set off, she suddenly thought of something and asked, “George, do you have so much faith in me? You also said that ordinary extraordinary beings take three to five days to understand their abilities.”
“Yes.”
“Why?” Ji Ma questioned, “Is it because you feel my intelligence and talent surpass yours by a bit?”
“I don’t feel that.”
“Hey, there’s no need to lie to yourself.” Ji Ma patted George on the shoulder and said, “I know that I, as a succubus, have upgraded to platinum in just a year and a half, which has greatly impacted your male pride. But that’s okay, you’ll get used to it after being knocked down a few more times.”
While she spoke, her long tail swung left and right.
The cat, Lianxi, who had just been abandoned by Ji Ma, ran over to her, meowing, “Master is amazing, Master is wise, Master is the world’s number one genius.”
George watched Ji Ma’s tail proudly swaying back and forth and remained silent.
“By the way, don’t hit my head or grab my horns in the future because I’m already as strong as you.” Ji Ma patted George’s shoulder again, “Brother, work hard to break through to platinum; you still have a little hope. Don’t give up, keep it up.”
With that said, Ji Ma turned to leave.
“You’re not truly talented.” George said, “This speed seems more like a recovery of power. Simply using the potion to upgrade tests soul strength, and you’ve never cared about this issue. I had prepared related potions for you before, but you never asked me once.”
Ji Ma paused.
George patted Ji Ma on the shoulder and said, “But everyone has secrets they’re unwilling to share. Since you can upgrade so quickly, you must also have a way to quickly familiarize yourself with your extraordinary abilities. I believe in you.”
Ji Ma felt a chill in her back and wanted to turn around to see if George was preparing to wield a massive sword, intending to deliver a righteous betrayal. But then she thought, wouldn’t that just show that she was guilty?
It turns out this guy, although he always wears a bucket helmet looking silly, isn’t as foolish as he appears. He has been suspicious and might have just been hinting at something.
Really bad! What is wrong with this world? As a paladin, he has even learned to deceive others. Is there any hope left for this world?
Ji Ma laughed it off, “Ahahaha, you’re quite funny. I’m going to practice now.”
Saying that, she hurriedly stepped forward to leave. Just as she took a step, her tail was grabbed, sending a mild pain-numb sensation all the way up her spine.
“Hey, what are you doing?” Ji Ma turned around sharply, yanking her tail away, “Let go of my tail; I’m no longer the humble and weak me.”
“You never said I couldn’t grab your tail.” George released his grip, and her tail slipped away like an eel through his fingers. He removed his bucket helmet, placing it against the wooden wall beside his massive sword, revealing his handsome face, his originally short hair having grown considerably, “You lied again.”
“Lying is a succubus’s nature.” Ji Ma said, turning to leave.
“Wait, there’s one more thing.”
“What is it?”
George closed in on Ji Ma without seeking her consent, wrapping one arm around her waist while pressing the other on the back of her head, leaning down to kiss her deeply.
The mixed scents of blood, sweat, and George’s unique smell flooded her senses. His lips pressed tightly against hers, and his tongue roamed her soft mouth.
“Mmm!”
Ji Ma’s face heated up, and she began to pat his armor frantically.
This damn scoundrel, this self-righteous guy thinks I want to kiss him? Let go of me, let go…
But no matter how loudly she patted his armor, he showed no signs of letting go, his gentle face looking directly at her.
This guy must think I’m being shy. So self-satisfied.
After kicking at his steel boots a few times and seeing he had no intention of releasing her, she decided to directly absorb the scent of peach blossoms to replenish her energy.
Seeing her being bullied, Lianxi the cat angrily waved her paws, scratching George’s armor, making a clattering sound.
Their kiss drew everyone’s attention.
The holy knights watched with delight, believing it was a farewell kiss before entering battle, a symbol of love. After all, that’s what bards always say: knights kiss their beloved before heading into battle.
“What a forbidden romance, a true love across races.” The elven maid wiped her eye corner, glancing at the tent behind her where Eve Frostleaf was sleeping, “If only Lady Frostleaf could see this, then she wouldn’t have unrealistic fantasies about that inferior monkey.”
However, the beastmen outside the wall were not in a good mood.
The lead beastman with a tuft of white fur observed sharply and, seizing the opportunity, shouted at the weak horned beasts, “He’s not wearing a helmet! Quick! Quick! Draw your bows and shoot! Shoot that pair of dogs!”
The weak horned beasts surged from the hillside, arrows drawn, unleashing a volley in the direction of the two on the wall.
The hail of arrows rained down around them. Ji Ma spread her wings, enhancing her “extraordinary charm,” and channeling her supernatural powers redirected all the arrows, which spun midair and fell harmlessly to the ground.
After a few waves of shooting, and realizing they were running low on arrows, the lead beastman with a tuft of white ordered a cease-fire.
Ji Ma didn’t know how long it had been until the hand on her head finally loosened, and their lips parted.
When did he become so shameless? I miss the old George, the serious one. Is that it? Fine then.
Ji Ma’s golden eyes glistened with moisture as she looked at George, panting.
George said, “You look much more beautiful than yesterday.”
What a lecher! He doesn’t really understand me at all. If I were to reveal my preferences, it would probably scare this tin can to death.
Ji Ma crossed her arms and said, “I know, but I don’t like kissing you. Do you know why?”
“Why?”
“I like women; they are more fun.”
“That’s fine, I don’t mind.”
“It’s not a matter of liking, but in the future, please don’t always force a kiss on me, okay?” Ji Ma remarked, “I know that your male pride has been wounded, realizing you’re soon going to be surpassed by me, and this will likely be your last chance to touch me again. Sigh, even the proudest of us can have such a ** moment; I’ll let this one slide out of pity.”
George: …
He couldn’t decipher whether Ji Ma was annoyed or just shy.
“Goodbye.” Ji Ma squatted down to pick up her “branch axe spear” and said, “If you do this again, I’ll poke your face with the sharp end. Remember, we’re just in a purely physical relationship… Forget it, someone like you, with such conservative thoughts, won’t understand the separation of sex and love.”
With that, she turned to leave.
“Ji Ma!”
George called her, but Ji Ma didn’t turn, her footsteps steady, thinking: Heh, who does he think he is? First, a club and now a kiss. Does he think I’m clueless about his little tricks? Too late, scoundrel.
But just as she took a step, her tail tightened again, seemingly caught.
Ji Ma angrily turned her head, “If you keep messing with my tail, I won’t be polite.”
George’s hands were empty; he hadn’t grabbed her tail, but her long tail had tightly wrapped around his calf.
Ji Ma felt embarrassed, her neck turning red. She quickly tugged on her tail, saying, “It’s just that it’s long and prone to get tangled. Really oblivious.”
“Liar.”
“Fine, I’m aroused; as a succubus, it’s normal to be aroused all the time, isn’t it?” Ji Ma huffed, “Goodbye! If we keep talking, I’ll start cursing.”
With that, she turned to leave.
“Ji Ma, there’s also…”
Ji Ma turned around angrily, the axe blade of her spear pointed threateningly at George.
“Your cat.” George pointed downwards.
On the shield below his armor, a ginger cat was hanging. Lianxi the cat had her teeth clamped tightly on the edge of the shield, hanging there.
“Little Lian, let go.”
“Meow.”
Lianxi finally let go and fell to the ground.
Ji Ma squatted down, gently petting her head, saying, “What a good dog—oh no, good cat, loyal and brave, unafraid of danger, filled with justice, much better than a certain bad guy who bullies the weak.”
While speaking, Ji Ma pulled out a piece of jerky from her dimensional bag and stuffed it into Lianxi’s mouth, “Eat well, I’ll be back.”
Lianxi squatted there, holding the jerky, nodding vigorously.
“What a good cat.”
Ji Ma patted the cat’s head, standing up and giving George a glare. Gripping the “branch axe spear” tightly, she leaped onto the wall, kicking off the ground and soaring up, flying lightly as she aimed at the still-retreating weak horned beasts.
The beasts below yelled, “She! She! She’s flying!”
“Die, beasts!” Ji Ma transformed the “branch axe spear” in her hand into a long spear using the power of lies, diving towards the beast horde from the air.
“Shoot! Shoot!”
The weak horned beasts readied their bows to shoot, but Ji Ma dove from the right flank of the beast group, which meant charging towards the right side of the weak horned archers. Most archers are right-handed and can’t shoot from the right without turning.
However, Ji Ma flew at tremendous speed, and only a few weak horned beasts managed to shoot a dozen arrows at her. Ji Ma stabbed the branch spear into the face of a weak horned beast at the edge of the group, killing it instantly.
Along with the unexpected power from the “branch spear” blessed by the blood god, Ji Ma also felt the pain of the enemy before its death merge into her body.
As Ji Ma pulled out the “branch spear” when the weak horned beast fell, she glided in an S-shaped trajectory through the air, dodging the arrows.
Ji Ma circled above the beast horde, savoring the “pain power” she had just experienced.
Almost instinctively, Ji Ma realized she could effortlessly use “pain power.” She applied it to her wings, and her speed increased dramatically. The wind whipped against her face, creating a sharp sound as the scenery below sped past.
But it only lasted a second or two before returning to normal speed.
“So this is what enhancing combat ability means; I wonder if it can increase damage.” Ji Ma thought while circling above the beast horde, searching for an opportunity.
The beasts below yelled at her, holding long spears and bows aimed at Ji Ma, while the horned beasts violently struck their shields with axes, seemingly warning Ji Ma that if she dared to come down, they would guarantee she wouldn’t return.
But Ji Ma was not afraid at all, muttering to herself, “Being able to fly is an advantage; with my mobility, they couldn’t even compare. I can hit whoever I want.”
With that, she dove toward the beast horde and casually gave the tufted beastman the middle finger, cursing, “Beastmen! Get back to your pigsty!”
Before her voice faded, she took yet another weak horned beast’s life, channeling the pain power into the “branch spear” and lightly slicing towards a nearby weak horned beast. Although the injury was shallow, just a scratch, the latter fell to the ground in pain, blood pouring out of it, eyes brimming with tears.
The lead beastman with a tuft of white fur angrily shoved aside the other beasts to pursue Ji Ma, only to see her flying away into the sky, leaving behind one dead and one injured weak horned beast.
The injured weak horned beast bled profusely, struggling for a few minutes before its head tilted and it drew its last breath.
