Chapter 140: Chapter 137 Seeking Help
Ji Ma rubbed her eyes and looked at the scene inside the dream balloon. Indeed, it was the army of Kisliv on the march. She also saw Kisliv’s people struggling to push vehicles stuck in the mud.
Although based on the number of dream balloons, it appeared that Kisliv’s army had less than ten thousand men, in contrast, the estimated number of the ratmen army was around two hundred thousand—who knows how much food the ratmen had stockpiled to launch this offensive.
However, victory in war is not solely determined by numbers. A timely attack can shatter the morale and discipline of the ratmen army.
She immediately recalled the countless examples of reinforcements ambushing besieging forces and achieving glorious victories.
Her heart raced.
Now, there was no need to debate who should escape the encirclement first.
George’s proposal was infuriating right from the start—what nonsense was it to send the person who escaped the encirclement to assist Beo? Wasn’t that putting a green hat on one’s own head?
He may have a green hat fetish, but this prince does not; I’ve only ever made others wear the green hat, not the other way around.
If someone were to advise Ji Ma to think of the greater good, to consider all races for the order of the world, she would just roll her eyes and say, “This is your greater good and your world, so you can go die; the sooner the better.”
Now that the reinforcements had arrived, all conflicts were resolved. Ji Ma had originally planned that at the crucial moment, she would pull George to escape; if he refused, she would break his legs and drag him away.
As for Frostleaf and Jenna, they could only fend for themselves.
After all, the promotion ceremony still lacked a significant other, and without her permission, he wanted to make sacrifices? Dream on.
Suppressing her complex emotions, Ji Ma flapped her wings, attempting to enter the dream, and directly communicate with the leader of the Kisliv army to send reinforcements to Dulong City.
But the white-glowing mist wisely made her halt her “steps,” hovering in the air.
First, she pondered whether this was a scheme by the Master of Deception.
Why, just when the invitation to become the Chosen One arrived, was she seeing the Kisliv expeditionary force? How convenient. Of course, it made some sense.
Kisliv had an alliance with Dulong City, and the dwarves had sent several rounds of envoys for help before. However, the Kisliv reinforcements had been slow to arrive, leading all dwarves to believe that the Kisliv people were not trustworthy.
Ji Ma analyzed that Kisliv was currently occupied dealing with trolls pouring in from the troll kingdom and could hardly spare the resources to launch an expedition.
Secondly, Ji Ma thought about how to gain the trust of the Kisliv expeditionary force. Knowing her own awareness, she considered what would happen if she were a Kisliv commander and saw a succubus coming to ask for help for the dwarves.
As long as his mind hadn’t been corrupted, he would definitely want to behead the succubus.
Furthermore, if the Kisliv expeditionary force wasn’t there to support the dwarves, what then?
She would need George to step forward for negotiation.
After thinking about it, Ji Ma returned to her body and came back to reality from the dream. She jumped up from the floor, shouting, “George!”
After calling out, she leaped from the bed, brandishing her branch axe spear, and rushed out fiercely.
Eve Frostleaf appeared before the gray stone wall and asked, “What happened?”
“Big trouble!” Ji Ma asked, “Where’s that George fellow?”
Eve Frostleaf shook her head.
“Then don’t waste my time.” Ji Ma, who had little patience with the scheming Frostleaf, took off running, flapping her wings to search for people.
She didn’t see any light pollution and flew to the collapsed section of the city wall but still didn’t find George.
Ji Ma could only ask the dwarves, hurrying along.
Flying back and forth, she finally found George in front of a remote section of the wall. He had just taken the lives of a few weapon teams and was jumping around in the street to return to the wall, as several hundred ratmen fled in terror before him. The officer’s whip was ineffective, and ultimately, the officer dropped his whip and fled himself.
He leaped up, directly jumping over at least six meters of the wall. With inertia affecting him, he landed heavily after taking a few steps but thankfully did not land on a dwarf.
Ji Ma immediately descended beside him. George pulled up his helmet, his expression calm, and asked, “What’s going on?”
Ji Ma opened the “Tranquil Hidden Barrier” and said, “There are reinforcements.”
Even George, though calm, couldn’t help but be slightly taken aback: “Reinforcements?”
“Kisliv is right above us on the surface,” Ji Ma said. “You know I’m a succubus, and people have deep prejudices against me. So, I need you to go communicate.”
“Alright, take me there right away; I’m going to sleep.” George asked, “How long can you keep people pulled from the dream palace into reality?”
“A little over an hour.”
“I heard the dwarven treasury was stolen; the thief caused a commotion for more than half an hour and then vanished in front of everyone.”
Can’t you be a little dumber at a time like this?
Ji Ma urged him, pushing him from behind, “Stop dawdling, hurry and go to sleep.”
Removing the “Tranquil Hidden Barrier,” George ran back to his dwelling. Too excited, he had to down an entire bottle of sleeping pills to aid his sleep.
In the dream, Ji Ma briefly and thoroughly told him the situation and her plan.
“I will follow the Kisliv army, help them scout, and cover their movements,” Ji Ma said. “If the leader of Kisliv is a fool, I might do his job for him while he takes a nap and wakes to glory that isn’t rightfully his.”
“Ji Ma, are you planning to do this without knowing the situation?”
“No matter which Kisliv leader it is, commanding a surprise attack will definitely not be better than me; this surprise attack allows for no failures.”
“Then promise me that if he’s not an idiot, don’t do something so extreme.”
“Of course.” Ji Ma asked, “Are you ready? I’m about to ‘dream jump’ to the Kisliv soldiers who are sleeping, and there might be conflict.”
“Ready.” George unusually took out a kite-shaped shield.
Ji Ma stood up, pausing for a moment:
“By the way, when I was sleeping, the Master of Deception asked me if I wanted to become His Chosen One?”
George tensed up, looking closely at Ji Ma, and only then did his muscles relax, saying, “You weren’t tempted by Him.”
“Right.”
“What do you think?”
“If the opportunity arises, I would become His Chosen One.”
“Absolutely not!”
“George, if I want to become the Chosen One of the Master of Deception, you won’t influence me.”
“Why tell me?”
“In this matter, I don’t want to deceive you, and I’m also worried that the Master of Deception will exploit this to sow discord between us,” Ji Ma smiled at him, “Moreover, in such a significant issue, you have the right to know, dear. If I decide to become the Chosen One of the Master of Deception, I will tell you.”
“If it were me, I would never accept the Dark Four Gods’ deal and so-called blessings,” George said. “What about you?”
“Suppose the team finds itself in desperate straits; I would agree to become the Chosen One of the Master of Deception to leverage the powers of the Chosen to break the deadlock.”
“I will supervise you,” George said. “If you commit a sin, I will impose appropriate penalties.”
“Okay.”
Ji Ma greatly enjoyed this kind of open-hearted communication. It was better than fearing that her partner would know and hiding things. If they spoke it out loud, it would hurt their feelings, and it would be even worse if it was discovered later on.
Of course, she didn’t realize that such candid conversations were because she had an ultimate secret to keep hidden from George and was preparing to betray him in the future.
Ji Ma picked up the branch axe spear and said, “I’m off.”
“Be careful.”
Ji Ma nodded, flapping her wings, disappearing into the dream palace, within the false starry sky.
In the black-and-white dream, she traversed the surface once more, reaching the Kisliv expeditionary camp. Among a large number of dream balloons, Ji Ma scanned the edges not protected by the shimmering mist to probe into the dreams.
She discovered that the dream balloon she had just peered into had vanished, along with several nearby dream balloons.
Had she been discovered?
Ji Ma had to be extremely cautious, randomly choosing an edge dream balloon. Twisting the dream and peering into it, confirming it was a low-ranking soldier, she immediately entered his dream and used it as a springboard to come into reality.
Crossing the boundary between dream and reality, it felt as though waking up suddenly from a deep dream, her expression dazed, losing her balance.
Ji Ma couldn’t see clearly around her and accidentally stepped on something soft, prompting a tragic scream.
“Ahhhhhh!”
The voice was so high-pitched it could rival a pig being slaughtered, echoing throughout the entire military camp.
Ji Ma gradually regained her senses and noticed she had stepped on the unfortunate soldier’s… precious belongings. This Kisliv soldier, in pain, clung to Ji Ma’s long leg, but she swiftly pulled her leg away.
That unfortunate soldier curled up like a shrimp, tears streaming down.
The nearby Kisliv soldiers all jumped up from their beds, shouting:
“Who’s there?”
“Who is it?”
“What person?”
Footsteps were heard approaching outside, and Ji Ma inwardly lamented that she should have used the “Luck Ring.”
She immediately started calling George, smiling at the Kisliv soldier pointing a sword at her, “Don’t be nervous, I’m a messenger; I have something to discuss.”
Although the tent was dimly lit, only Ji Ma’s vague form could be seen, it was enough to mesmerize the Kisliv soldiers, who became entranced, staring at her.
The tent flap was suddenly lifted, and light poured in, causing Ji Ma to squint.
“She has a weapon!”
Someone outside shouted, “Ambush! Ambush!”
A spell from somewhere unexpectedly removed Ji Ma’s disguise, revealing her horns, wings, and tail. Things got lively.
“A demon! It’s a demon attack!”
“Kill her!”
Nearby soldiers slashed at Ji Ma with their swords, every strike missing its mark.
Finally, Ji Ma completed her spell and pulled George over as well. He landed and also momentarily staggered.
“She even brought one more!”
“It’s a high-level demon; ordinary soldiers fall back! Let me handle this!”
“Quick, surround them!”
Chaos ensued, with tents collapsing. Well done, three layers surrounded them, making it impossible to escape, with swords, knives, and arrows all aimed at her.
“George, think of a way!”
George said, “Gentlemen, I am a holy paladin—”
Before he could finish his sentence, over a dozen arrows struck him, all the shafts breaking.
“Step aside and let this brave man handle it.” A steady male voice rang out, the crowd parted, and Beo, holding a holy sword, rushed forward but suddenly halted, staring intently: “George? My defeated subordinate?”
“It’s you?” Ji Ma pointed at Beo, “The thirty-year-old virgin.”
