Chapter 58 Blazing Flame and the Eternal City (Part 2)
For just a moment, “Douglas’s” body of original sin, along with the turbid projection of the abyss, was annihilated. Amidst the magnificent sword light, a mass of black mist evaporated.
Her slender hand tightened on the vibrating sword hilt, and Verafia’s delicate brows furrowed, confusion appearing on her fair face.
If the person on “Douglas” was truly who she saw, why would he be willing to block her sword light for Moon?
From Verafia’s understanding of him, how could this person be so easily wiped out, even by her sword?
However, the young girl’s thoughts flashed by in an instant. As the Sword of Life hesitated for a moment, a holy radiance, dazzling like the sun, erupted, piercing the nascent flame of the long sword’s slash!
The scorching light caused Verafia to close her golden eyes, and after the radiance, Moon’s figure reappeared amidst the endless light.
“Verafia, I underestimated you—however, I am the incarnation of light! In this immortal holy kingdom, as long as light does not extinguish, my power is endless. You cannot defeat me!”
Moon, having broken free, let out a wild laugh. Disregarding his disheveled appearance, a radiant holy light, like the sun, suddenly erupted behind him, displaying the majesty of the God of Light!
“Moon, I can defeat you a second time.”
Verafia remained unmoved. She opened her golden eyes, her slender hand pulling the magnificent divine sword upwards. With just this simple action, a straight line was drawn.
Through the ruptures, the divine radiance of life surged, and vines and greenery sprang up everywhere. The power of laws, in the boundless light, almost recreated a world of life!
And all the life born, after Verafia swung her long sword, converged into a beam of sword light. Like a curtain being lifted, it shattered the light.
The blazing flames ignited by life burned through. Verafia’s golden eyes lifted. The Pope of Light, shrouded in boundless holy light, reappeared before her sword edge.
Suddenly, a crisp sound rang out.
The Sword of Life pierced the light but stopped just before Moon’s very presence. Everywhere was brilliant light, but at this moment, it was like the night sky. A more dazzling light then erupted.
Beneath the divine sword of life lay a city that Verafia was all too familiar with, representing the origin of all light. Now, in the young girl’s eyes, shrouded in boundless holy light, it appeared even more sacred and solemn, like a holy city from a heavenly scripture!
Beneath the eternal sword edge, an immortal holy city resisted!
“Moon, you actually used the faith of millions of believers to block my sword blade?”
The divine sword and the holy city clashed in the gaps of the time dimension. Verafia’s delicate hands pressed slightly on the sword hilt, her beautiful golden hair blowing. Shattered light rays scattered upon her flawless snow-white face. Her golden eyes remained as brilliant as gems, looking incredibly cold.
The young girl’s gaze witnessed the holy city of light, stretching for thousands of miles, standing before the divine sword. The golden holy fire of light burned fiercely before the sword edge of the Sword of Life.
This holy city was not only Moon’s projection in this holy kingdom world using the divine power of light but also the convergence of the purest faith of millions of light believers on the entire Agrand continent.
If Moon had previously used the faith of light to shape his holy kingdom world, then at this moment, the Pope’s actions were instead using the faith of those believers to block her sword.
“Verafia, you should know, as I am now, even the incarnation of light—a believer of light. If they offer their faith to their deity, what is wrong with that!”
Within the glorious temple, traces of light surged. Moon reappeared, seated on the holy throne of the Papal Palace, looking down upon the Goddess of Life being crushed by the holy city.
A ray of holy fire ignited on his staff, and he grasped it. Moon naturally knew the source of his current power and clearly heard Verafia’s cold questioning.
However, Moon not only felt no doubt but instead looked at the young girl with disdain.
“Mortals praise deities and offer devotion to their gods. This is the power of faith, and the source of divine power—Verafia, you are the deity of life, are you not the same as me?”
“No, of course not—”
A trace of Verafia’s voice was drowned out by the booming sound of space shattering. The holy city of light, condensed from countless faiths, seemed to be ignited by infinite holy fire. Lines of laws were crushed, and it plunged down with a roar, crashing towards Verafia, who was barely holding her sword.
The golden-haired girl held her sword with one hand, her raised golden eyes reflecting the holy city of light that was rapidly enlarging in her vision, seeming to occupy the entire world. She swung the Sword of Mystilltin.
As the long sword moved, a light chime of jade striking covered the colossal sound of the world shattering. A blaze of life ignited, and within the dense divine radiance of life, pure divinity was reflected.
Seeing Verafia fly back, enveloped in dazzling divine radiance of life, Moon laughed heartily.
“Heh, Miss Verafia, did you not just say you were different from me? Yet—now, your divine power, your laws, are they not also derived from the faith of your citizens?”
“No, they are not the same.”
Verafia swung her divine sword, her slender blade tearing through space. A city wall of the holy city of light collapsed. She stood amidst the shattered light, her golden radiance hair flowing in the brilliant holy radiance. Seeing the city recondense, she raised her long sword again:
“Moon, as you said, mortal faith shapes the power of deities. For this reason, deities bestow blessings and protection upon their believers. Even the most evil Demon God will bestow favors.”
—Not like Moon, who merely regards them as fuel to ignite the holy fire!
A decisive look formed in Verafia’s eyes. Her delicate jade hand slightly lifted, and the dense divine power of life surged like a verdant tide, resisting the continuously suppressing light.
At the same time, the young goddess raised her delicate jade wrist and slashed down with the Sword of Life. Before the sword edge, the flames of life roared and exploded with boundless vitality, like the birth of a world, opening up the world. The eternal sword reappeared amidst the inextinguishable flames!
As if the divine sword that created worlds descended, with immense divine might, half of the holy city of light was instantly shattered. Dense light poured out like a golden tide, and even Moon’s body above the holy city turned to ash in the sweeping sword light.
But Verafia’s golden eyes couldn’t help but narrow.
Amidst the shattered remnants of the holy city, within the dazzling golden holy light, a completely different, gray-black light entwined. The wails of countless people, filled with pain and despair, echoed.
The golden-haired girl closed her eyes. Just a glimpse, and she personally experienced the helpless despair of these wills facing death.
This was not an unfamiliar power—the fallen angel of “Wings of Fear” had once made a deal with Moon, causing plague to ravage the empire and obtain millions of lives.
She slightly raised her head. The holy city, bathed in light, was like a heavenly realm, while under the shroud of despair, the echoing wails were no different from an abyss of hell.
Verafia saw figures bound by despair in eternal chains. They feared, they prayed, like moths to a flame, reaching for the seemingly within-reach light. This was the salvation they sought, and their eyes surged with fanaticism and devotion.
“Despair… you used Sariel’s power to extract the faith of believers, Moon, is this how you forged this holy city?”
Verafia looked at the Pope’s figure, which had reformed amidst the shattered light. The will of life lingered around his divine body, and the goddess’s voice was as cold as frost.

It feels a bit repetitive… but this plot should end in the next chapter.
