Chapter 6 Legendary Quests
Igelt couldn’t help but let out a dry laugh. However, he wasn’t so foolish as to deliberately oppose her and displease his young lady.
Unlike Verafia’s lighthearted and spoiled tone, it was like a crystal-like ice crystal, with a cool, moist, and subtle touch, followed by the delicate and soft voice of a young girl.
“But, as you said, Igelt… Count Lunse, it seems he’s Douglas’s capable assistant. But even with the King’s appointment, how can a Star rank be so easily controlled?”
The slender Dragon Clan girl sat down, appearing beside Igelt. Ophi turned her exquisite, fair little face, her long eyelashes blinking, her crystal-like ice-blue eyes revealing a hint of doubt.
Regarding the incident between Igelt and Douglas, Ophi had learned some things on their journey here.
Douglas’s strength might be considered outstanding among the younger generation, but he had only just entered the Crystal rank last year, and there was still a considerable distance to the Star rank.
“Perhaps Douglas’s methods have forced this Count to submit.”
Igelt said.
Although Igelt wished Douglas would choke to death even when drinking water, he had to admit that with the other party being only twenty years old and firmly controlling the family’s territory and the Andelfir Province, his capabilities and methods were rare on the entire continent.
Douglas.
Thinking of Douglas’s face, Igelt’s palm gripped tightly, but he shook his head as if nothing happened, looking at the city outside the carriage window:
“However, from the looks of it, Douglas shouldn’t be in Dorun City. That’s not bad, at least it won’t let this person disturb my young lady’s journey.”
“Tsk, a mere human… Am I still worried about him? This young lady is happy for him to come and provoke me.”
A certain young lady grumbled unhappily, pouting her lips.
—
The carriage wheels rolled smoothly on the road. Igelt sat by the window, his gaze somewhat lost.
Igelt’s thoughts couldn’t help but drift to stories from his family.
Half a year ago, his departure was seen by others as being unable to bear the humiliation, and in name, it was to avoid causing more trouble for his younger sister… but he himself believed he was running away.
In more than half a year, Shiel should have returned to the family, but were those old bastards making things difficult for her again?
And Douglas, who coincidentally was also not in Dorun City, what did he want to do…
Igelt’s complicated thoughts presented themselves in his mind in swaths.
But suddenly, Igelt felt a sharp pain, almost biting his tongue, as his calf was forcefully kicked by the girl’s fair and tender lotus foot.
“You, why aren’t you paying attention to me?”
The response was the girl’s voice full of annoyance. Igelt quickly lowered his head, and the girl’s fair cheeks, puffed up in the soft sunlight, and her big eyes showing displeasure came into view.
Damn, how could I have suddenly ignored this young lady!
Igelt hastily apologized, and after the girl’s anger subsided slightly, he tried to ask.
“Young lady, what’s wrong?”
“Big Sister wants to ask why there are so many more adventurers in this Dorun City than in other cities?”
Flarn, sitting quietly beside the girl, slightly raised her face and repeated her question for Verafia.
Igelt was stunned for a moment. Looking at the street, the young man indeed saw many adventurers in various attires, including warriors and mages wielding greatswords and staffs, as well as rangers equipped with short swords and long bows… and there were also many people from other regions or even other countries.
Not only were there adventuring parties forming subjugation teams, but there were also quite a few powerful solo adventurers purchasing items and repairing weapons around them, and even many titled powerhouses who had reached Platinum and Crystal ranks.
Igelt scratched his head in confusion, his voice filled with bewilderment:
“There are no famous ruins near Dorun City… Could it be that the guild here posted a legendary quest, attracting so many adventurers?”
Igelt stopped the carriage, got off, and found a bald mage who was purchasing magic scrolls, and asked.
“Mister, excuse me, why are there so many adventurers in Dorun City? Did something happen?”
The bald mage looked up, annoyed at being interrupted. Upon seeing Igelt’s attire, and Verafia who followed behind him, his eyes suddenly lit up, and he chuckled:
“This young fellow, and the beautiful lady behind you, you’ve only just arrived in Dorun from elsewhere, so of course you don’t know what’s happening here…”
“Then tell me, what happened in Dorun City?” Before Igelt could speak, Verafia moved behind him, raising her youthful face and saying crisply.
Behind the girl, Ophi, who had come down with Flarn, also had curious eyes.
The bald mage chuckled lowly, waved his arm, and the shadow cast by his mage hat fell on his withered skin, making him appear mysterious. The bald mage said slowly:
“The reason so many adventurers have suddenly gathered in Dorun City is naturally due to news of treasure.”
Verafia still wanted to ask, but the bald mage remained silent, only extending a thin hand from his robe and rubbing his knuckles together.
Is this openly selling information for tips?
Igelt thought to himself. He didn’t find this bald mage trustworthy, and with adventurers all over the city, he could just ask anyone. Why waste his private money?
Igelt was about to refuse, but suddenly felt a chill down his spine.
Igelt caught a glimpse of the girl’s impatient expression out of the corner of his eye, shivered inwardly, and quickly pulled out a few silver coins from his money bag, placing them in the bald mage’s hand.
The bald mage examined the silver coins in his hand, estimated that it was enough to cover the difference for his staff, and then nodded contentedly, saying:
“Young fellow, you may not know this, but not long ago, the chief astrologer of Dorun City predicted that the ruins of an ultimate powerhouse would appear near Dorun City soon, and it would be a great figure.”
“This astrologer intended to keep this news a secret, but one day while drunk, he accidentally leaked it to his maid, and it became known throughout the city, and has been confirmed by more than one authoritative master.”
“Therefore, the Adventurer’s Guild had no choice but to issue a legendary subjugation quest, which attracted even more adventurers who wanted to get rich overnight to Dorun City.”
It really is a legendary subjugation quest.
Igelt clicked his tongue.
The black-haired young man couldn’t help but glance at the bald mage in front of him again, thinking that a Silver Mage like you, getting involved in a quest of this level, wouldn’t that be throwing away your life?
