Chapter 79: Flaming Sword Bath (Part 2)
The long sword swung out, the surging, scorching scarlet flames incinerated the abyssal demonic energy, and cleaved down on Reske, whose face showed astonishment!
Reske’s face, eroded by demonic energy, showed a moment of panic, as if encountering some terrifying natural predator, but immediately, the one-armed mercenary’s expression was replaced by cruelty.
Reske could see that after Ig took the unknown magic potion, although his aura had surged, it had only barely reached his past level. Compared to him now, it was still far off!
“Heh heh! You worthless noble brat, die!”
Reske swung his weapon again, the surging black demonic power on his body seeming to solidify as it rose from nowhere, sweeping towards Ig with his attack.
“Worthless? …Not anymore.”
Ig mused. He could feel his body being ignited by flames, licking at his bones and flesh, blood and nerves, but… this represented a power he had never possessed before.
Beneath his unseen wrist, golden flame-like markings glowed faintly. The young man suddenly looked up at the incoming black slash.
Ig swung his sword again, the flame-burning sword edge, like a hot knife cutting through melting ice and snow, directly burning away the swirling demonic energy around him. The one-armed mercenary’s blade, which cut through the air with speed, was blocked by his counter-hand, making him unable to advance an inch.
The scorching light of the flames illuminated the night in an instant amidst the crashing sounds. Reske’s face under the demonic energy distorted again, becoming frighteningly ugly.
“How is this possible… How could you, a mere bronze-level trash brat, block my attack!”
Reske roared in exasperation, swinging his weapon with both hands, smashing down at the young man before him without any pattern.
Behind him, rolling demonic energy surged, giving out sharp and miserable cries, as if trying to extinguish the flames that were burning him.
The flame-ignited long sword flickered rapidly in front of the night. Ig’s face showed pain, but his pair of azure eyes were incomparably calm, rapidly moving, accurately blocking every heavy blow imbued with massive demonic energy!
Ig blocked Reske’s attack, which was fueled by his extreme anger. In an instant, Reske suddenly looked up and roared, the black demonic energy surged back, the black demonic energy was boundless, as if it were about to merge with the entire night.
“Completely corrupted?”
Ig dodged Reske’s beast-like pounce to the side, his azure eyes firm, and with his other hand, he raised End, drawing a straight sword light towards the unsteady Reske.
End, under the scorching heat, directly severed Reske’s only sword-wielding right arm. Black blood splattered onto the ground, and the metal sword “dinged” as it fell.
“Roar!”
Reske, in a distorted black humanoid form, let out a strange roar. His voice carried no pain, only residual anger!
Black blood flowed everywhere, and a grotesque, thick limb grew from his severed arm. The trunk-thick mutated limb, smeared with viscous liquid, struck down at Ig with the fury of revenge!
The enraged blow of the abyssal monstrosity carved a huge gash in the ground where the young man rapidly dodged. The rolling, foul wind whipped at his face like a whip, but Ig, holding his sword with one hand, pressed forward to its front and struck with his sword!
The giant limb was once again shattered into pieces. The sword’s light side, the putrid black blood splattered all over Ig, but was instantly evaporated by the flames burning within his body.
“Heh, Abyss…”
Ig saw his face, which no longer resembled a human at all, show pain and fear, but without hesitation, he swung his sword again.
A flash of light illuminated the sky, and the fiery red flames struck the demonic beast’s body, directly evaporating and cutting down half of its demonic energy!
The burning pain and weakness caused “Reske” to feel fear. He immediately abandoned the young man who had just annihilated half of his demonic energy and instead lunged at the young girl under the large tree!
Verafia, whose eyes were slightly raised, saw the abyssal monster rapidly approaching her. The girl merely watched coldly, her gaze clear and cold.
“Miss Verafia!”
Ig exclaimed, his speed far surpassing the already heavily wounded “Reske,” as he fiercely blocked in front of the girl.
Verafia’s eyelids trembled slightly. She saw that under “Reske’s” heavy impact, the young man couldn’t help but turn pale and cough up a mouthful of blood.
Ig gritted his teeth, enduring the intense pain, and tightly gripped the hilt of End, fiercely thrusting it at the remaining “Reske,” directly piercing its heart.
“Hiss…”
The monstrosity formed by the abyssal demonic energy convulsed and struggled for a few moments, finally drooping its crippled limbs powerlessly, its body rapidly annihilating.
“Cough, cough…”
Ig gasped for air, struggling to support his pained body as he walked before the girl, flashing a forced smile, wanting to help her up.
“Young lady, your injuries…”
“Much better than yours!”
Verafia glared at him angrily, as if still sulking, turning her little face away. “Also, don’t touch me! I told you, I don’t want to see you! Just get as far away from me as possible!”
Ig obediently stopped his arm but didn’t move half a step. The young man smiled bitterly.
“Young lady, it was my fault then, I shouldn’t have done that to you. But now, let me take you away from here first… at least let me find you a safer place.”
“Hmph, still thinking about this young lady, Ig… You’re such an idiot! Don’t you see what you look like!”
Verafia slowly shifted her gaze, which flashed with a faint golden radiance, looking at the young man before her. “Don’t you know doing this could kill you? Even for Lothel, is it worth doing this?”
“Miss Verafia, please don’t be angry. To tell you the truth, at first, I did think of finding you because of Lord Lothel.”
The young man’s words were quite honest. Verafia gazed at him, suddenly seeing Ig show a relieved smile.
“But the moment I saw you, I didn’t think that way anymore. Miss Verafia, you saved my life and are my benefactor. No matter what, I can’t just watch you get hurt in front of me.”
“Just this… It’s just hateful, Ig, you’re simply an irredeemable idiot, a stupid, idiotic fool!”
Ig did not expect his words to make the girl look even more angry. Gritting her teeth, he could only smile awkwardly, clueless.
The girl’s small chest heaved slightly from her anger. She suddenly seemed to make up her mind, raising her head to look at the young man before her.
It’s just a magic potion. This scoundrel’s condition can’t possibly be worse than it was then… With the inextinguishable blood of the blazing flames, at most, a few levels would drop, silver, bronze, at most, start all over again.
Verafia’s heart ached. For a moment, she hated this hateful young man even more.
“You hateful human, hurry up and help this young lady up!”
Ig hurriedly helped the girl. The girl’s delicate skin felt like the finest jade, smooth and slightly cool. Verafia suddenly gripped him.
Due to her weakened spirit, Verafia could only feel his exact condition through touch.
“It’s not as serious as I thought, thankfully, at least I won’t die… But, is this because of my mark? Or…”

I Was The Hero, But I Woke Up as a Phoenix Princess?!
身为勇者的我竟然成了凤凰大小姐
From the travel diaries of a Phoenix Princess reborn from the inferno, chronicling her life on the road with a supposedly “useless” young hero…
On their journey, their fellowship continues to grow: a Dragon Princess of silver frost, a young Vampire Princess with eyes of blood-crimson, the Saintess of Radiant Holy Light, the noble Princess of the White Iris…
“Hmm?” Verafia paused, tilting her head as she gracefully twirled a soft strand of her fiery hair around a finger. A hint of suspicion flickered in her beautiful eyes. “Ignet, why does this sound suspiciously like you’re assembling a harem?”
“My lady, there is a saying: ‘The fish is what I desire, and the bear’s paw is also what I desire.’ A wise man knows that if he can have them both, his home will be harmonious and all his affairs will prosper,” he began, puffing out his chest with the air of a profound philosopher. “Is that not a truly beautiful thing? A… a paragon of peaceful coexistence?”
He faltered under her smoldering gaze.
“…Ahhh! It was a joke! I’m sorry, Milady, please don’t burn me! I swear my only desire is you!”
