Chapter 125: City in War
Winged fire flapped through Aenoral’s domed sky. Verafia’s slender feet landed, dodging arrows and magic. Her right hand, holding Mistetinn’s Staff in reverse, raised her golden eyes slightly. She lifted the scepter and pressed it forcefully towards the approaching Dark Elf enemies. Instantly, a rain of blazing flames like falling stars crashed upon her foes.
“Meteor Fall – Flame Drop!”
As the girl’s young, yet indifferent tone echoed, the heatwave roared like a tsunami. The forbidden technique transformed into a forbidden domain of death, and the falling flames furiously devoured her enemies.
An oppressive aura of Sacred Domain suddenly descended. Verafia’s golden eyes narrowed slightly. Her jade hand lifted the scepter, preparing to deliver a full power mark to her enemy. However, in an instant, it was as if the sound of pure water flowed before her eyes, causing Verafia to slightly startle and raise her face.
The End transformed into a brilliant gold Sacred Sword. The terrifying sword qi, intertwined with pure light and blazing flames, arrived first. It slashed into the Dark Elf commander’s domain, forcing him to draw his sword to block. With a crisp “clang,” the same ice-blue Sacred Domain followed.
Ice poured towards her enemies without concealment. Verafia raised her head in surprise. The Dragon clan princess, with crystal frost wings, had her dress fluttering as she leaped from high above. The wind blew her ice-blue, beautiful hair, and her jade hand wielded the magnificent spear blade, erupting with dazzling cold light, ruthlessly piercing the domain.
The enemies blocked beneath the End had nowhere to retreat. In the next instant, the ice crystal spear pierced his throat!
The Ice Dragon Girl forcefully pulled the spear from the enemy’s throat. She turned her head, and upon finding the beautiful girl in the golden-haired white dress, her frost blue eyes widened slightly. A gentle smile appeared on her fair face, and she happily exclaimed, “Veer!”
Verafia’s gaze shifted. Ig tightened the End and returned to her side. In the sky, spirit birds sung, releasing the Fire of Life to deliver the final blow to the Dark Elves remaining beneath Verafia’s flames.
“You guys…”
Verafia looked at Ig, then at Ophi, who had run before her with a brilliant smile, and Fya, who had transformed back into a little loli. Her lips moved.
She knew that if she said anything emotional, it would make her very embarrassed. So, she should puff out her cheeks and haughtily say: “Hmph, you guys, you actually still know to follow this young lady,” such an tsundere sentence.
However, for some reason, she couldn’t make a sound.
Fortunately, Ig, her attendant, was understanding. He gently reached out and smoothed a few strands of golden hair that had been blown astray, smiling and saying:
“Of course, we have to stay by Verafia’s side. Besides, Senior Seralis and Little Fei are both indebted to us. How can we watch her enter the war alone?”
Ophi also nodded her little head.
Ig looked at the girl’s fair, snowy cheeks turned to the side and her large golden eyes looking back at him. He showed a faint smile, feigned contemplation, and posed a question.
“However, Sky City is a large city, even wider than Lichen in Peka. Where should we find Senior Seralis?”
Verafia knew Ig was deliberately giving her a way down. She glared at him with her golden eyes, her fair slender fingers slightly linking, tilting her head. “The entire Sky City is caught in war. Trying to recruit people directly… it definitely won’t be effective. However, Seralis will likely go look for the Elf King. Why don’t we go see her directly.”
Coincidentally, one of Verafia’s purposes in coming to Sky City was also to meet the Elf King, Sylvia.
As her voice slightly lowered, Verafia looked at the green-haired little loli Fya, who had run before her.
“Sister Sylvia… I have a soul contract with her, so I know where she is.” Fya understood the girl’s meaning, lifted her little head, and quickly said.
—
With the plan confirmed, Verafia and the others withdrew. After all, it was a breach in the city walls, and it would be constantly swarmed by Dark Elf armies. If they stayed too long, they would eventually be entangled by the Dark Elf soldiers.
There was only one hour left until the Dark Moon descended. Countless Dark Elves poured in, occupying half the city. The fluctuations of magic roared, and fierce street fighting erupted with the elf guards defending the city.
Even with Fya leading the way, and with themselves, including Ig and Verafia, all possessing Sacred Domain level combat power, they still found it difficult to move, having to bypass large-scale battlefields.
Verafia and the others were also followed by many guards.
They were the guards of Sky City. After their retreat, they were lost and bewildered. Because they recognized Fya, they re-gathered around her. And as they traveled through Sky City, their numbers continued to grow, now reaching dozens.
Among them, besides elves, there were also dwarves and Silver Moon Elves, and even a human swordsman. However, excluding Wood Elves, the largest number of people were Golden Elves.
Only a portion of the Golden Elves had revolted with Prime Minister Keno Pal. The rest were also caught up in the city’s war. Compared to others, these noble elf nobles had more devastated expressions, lost and bewildered.
“Verafia, is it because of the Golden Elves, and the Prime Minister, that Keno Pal?”
Ophi’s palm tightened around her spear, her frost blue eyes showing some pity as she looked at the surrounding corpses. It was clear that a great battle had occurred here. She then turned her face to look at the girl, asking in confusion, “But, why would he do this?”
Verafia raised her golden eyes. The broken scene was also reflected in her gaze.
The city, carrying elven history and civilization and born as a “miracle,” was now devastated and destined for destruction. What was even more ironic was that this destruction was brought about by its own masters.
Before entering Sky City, Verafia could only guess whether Prime Minister Keno was indeed the one who caused the Dark Elf invasion. However, in the city, the events that were now laid bare made it impossible for even the Golden Elves who wanted to defend their patriarch to deny the evidence before their eyes.
“Perhaps, it’s just that this Prime Minister, resentful of his efforts, or perhaps, the Dark Elves and the Goddess of the Dark Moon offered an irresistible reward?”
Civilization and art, ultimately cannot carry ambition?
Verafia thought so, but then shook her head.
In fact, she didn’t think that when she saw Prime Minister Keno Pal, who shone like gold, he would have actively caused the Dark Elf invasion due to selfish desires.
Even though a hundred years is enough time to change many people, if he was truly a greedy person, why would he have supported Sylvia’s ascension to the elven throne thirty years ago?
Her gaze involuntarily fell on Fya. The green-haired little loli bit her lip, raised her head, and said, “I also asked Sister Sylvia… but she didn’t tell me.”
Verafia shook her head. If Fya truly knew, she would have told her already.
Moreover, now, she didn’t need to think about that Golden Prime Minister. If there were any problems, she could ask the Elf King directly after meeting her.
