Chapter 8 The Source of the Plague
Gazing at the girl’s faintly shimmering gold eyes, Ig was also a little silent.
He understood Verafia’s meaning. In the girl’s heart, she truly regarded Herafir as her sister, which was why she felt conflicted and hesitant.
If Verafia had remained as she was at the beginning, not having tasted Herafir’s kindness and instead harboring hostility and wariness towards her, the girl would not have been so indecisive.
Ig extended his hand and gently grasped the girl’s tender hand. “Veer…”
As if sensing his intention to comfort her, Verafia raised her head, her gold eyes blinked, and she revealed a gentle smile again.
“Perhaps it’s just my own wishful thinking. Sister Herafir might just miss me.”
Her slightly emitted chuckle was as pleasant as silver bells. Verafia’s slender long lashes closed between her eyes, and her little hand pushed his arm. Her gorgeous gold eyes, revealing a cute color again, gazed at him:
“By the way, Ig, have you seen those patients infected with the plague? Guess what I discovered?”
Although she said this, Verafia had no intention of playing a pointless guessing game with Ig. So, with a slight movement of her slender fingers, the black blood, enveloped in life-giving divine power and suspended in front of her, was pushed towards Ig.
Ig reached out his finger and touched the shimmering light.
This was the blood Verafia had extracted from the plague-stricken patients. All impurities had been removed, leaving behind the essence of this plague.
“This is… the aura of darkness?”
Ig was slightly startled, his brows furrowed as he spoke.
In fact, it was not just darkness. In the plague blood Verafia offered, there was a kind of extremely high-level demonic power. And within the darkness, he saw a thread of gold, containing traces of the laws of light.
“Of course, there’s more than just that!”
A tender and clear voice came. A white-stockinged little foot, encased in an exquisitely lacquered small leather shoe, revealed a trace from the carriage. Then, a soft rustling sound, like the friction of soft silk cloth, was heard.
Under Ig’s gaze, a young loli with snow-blue long hair emerged from the carriage.
The snow-blue long-haired loli had a porcelain doll-like exquisite and cute face, with exquisite lace ribbons adorning her smooth and beautiful hair.
And on the loli’s small and delicate body, there was a short skirt with a black base and a white apron decorated with lace. Her slender legs were wrapped in thick white pantyhose, but they didn’t look bulky. Instead, they highlighted her slender figure, adding a touch of cuteness.
Ig looked at the cute loli with charming blue long hair who jumped off the carriage, and then saw Ophi emerge from the carriage with her.
This loli, adorned in a gorgeous maid dress made of superior silk cloth, was naturally the transformed An Liege.
Originally, after reconstructing An Liege’s body, Verafia had not planned to bring her and Ophi to the Empire.
However, just before they left, Ophi suddenly ran up to her, shaking her hands and begging for a long time. Thinking that An Liege was originally a Demon Monarch, Verafia reluctantly agreed.
And the maid outfit on An Liege originally belonged to Nina.
Before they left, Verafia had specifically asked Ain for a few items. Then, regardless of An Liege’s indignant gaze, her big eyes shone with a triumphant expression. Like dressing up a doll, she and Ophi forcibly put them on her.
Verafia even explained to Ophi with reason that this was to cultivate An Liege’s innate instincts as a girl.
Of course, Ig knew that this was entirely due to the young lady’s sudden whim to tease An Liege, who had already become a loli.
As for An Liege?
According to Ig’s observation, the little loli had initially protested very indignantly and stubbornly refused Verafia. She sat in a corner, muttering things like “An An will never forgive the young lady.”
However, whether it was because her soul had been assimilated by Ophi for a long time, or because Verafia had reshaped her, she had become like a brand new girl.
In just one month, this former Demon Monarch had already begun to get used to being a girl and wearing a maid outfit. At most, due to the disturbance of past memories, she would occasionally be stubborn.
“Is that An Liege?” Ig looked at the girl’s little face and called her name.
“Hmph, stupid master, don’t call An An like that!”
An Liege’s ice-lake-like beautiful big eyes looked at Ig, her exquisite nose slightly lifted, her snow-white cheeks puffed out in a huff, and she brandished her little fist fiercely.
Seeing the girl’s reaction, Ig couldn’t help but smile.
He remembered Anderdun, who had once resided within him. Now, that Demon Monarch had become a little loli. Even when she tried to put on a fierce expression, she looked somewhat cute, let alone speaking in such a half-spoiled, half-chiding tone.
Ig reached out and rubbed her little head, smiling, “An Liege said there was more than just that. What did you mean?”
“Stupid master already found out.”
An Liege’s perfectly carved little face was lifted, her delicate nose let out a soft “hmm,” and her tender lips pouted slightly with dissatisfaction.
“The blood the young lady gave to the master is from a dark soul. It was he who turned the curse into the plague… But, that person is not like the former An An. He himself is an incarnation of divinity, so he would not fear the divine arts of light.”
An Liege thought for a moment, then raised her little head again, her big eyes looking at Ig and saying, “Before, he was also An An’s colleague. He was a very difficult guy to get along with.”
An Liege’s words made Ig fall into thought.
A dark soul that could turn curses into plagues… but, An Liege said, he was an incarnation of divinity.
The black-haired young man subconsciously turned his head and looked at Verafia, who was still sitting in the carriage.
Verafia held her chest with her slender hands, her little feet swinging in mid-air. She didn’t seem too interested in their conversation, obviously, she already knew.
Seeing Ig look over, Verafia’s gold eyes subtly lifted, a hint of cuteness appearing on her snowy cheeks. She grabbed a few strands of gold silk with her little hand, tilted her face, and said.
“It seems Ig already knows. Since he was An Liege’s former colleague, he must naturally be one of the Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon Realm.”
“The Four Heavenly Kings of the Demon Realm… Yes. Besides An Liege and the Blood Lord, they also include the Dark Giant King and the Fallen Holy Angel of ‘Wings of Fear’.”
Ig recalled An Liege’s previous introduction and his azure eyes once again looked at the pitch-black blood suspended before him.
“Within the darkness, there is light and divinity… If that’s the case, the instigator of this plague is most likely this Fallen Angel. No wonder I could sense the golden laws of light from the essence of the plague.”

I Was The Hero, But I Woke Up as a Phoenix Princess?!
身为勇者的我竟然成了凤凰大小姐
From the travel diaries of a Phoenix Princess reborn from the inferno, chronicling her life on the road with a supposedly “useless” young hero…
On their journey, their fellowship continues to grow: a Dragon Princess of silver frost, a young Vampire Princess with eyes of blood-crimson, the Saintess of Radiant Holy Light, the noble Princess of the White Iris…
“Hmm?” Verafia paused, tilting her head as she gracefully twirled a soft strand of her fiery hair around a finger. A hint of suspicion flickered in her beautiful eyes. “Ignet, why does this sound suspiciously like you’re assembling a harem?”
“My lady, there is a saying: ‘The fish is what I desire, and the bear’s paw is also what I desire.’ A wise man knows that if he can have them both, his home will be harmonious and all his affairs will prosper,” he began, puffing out his chest with the air of a profound philosopher. “Is that not a truly beautiful thing? A… a paragon of peaceful coexistence?”
He faltered under her smoldering gaze.
“…Ahhh! It was a joke! I’m sorry, Milady, please don’t burn me! I swear my only desire is you!”
