Chapter 198: Acting with Swiftness and Vigor
Chapter 199: Acting with Swiftness and Vigor
Compared to the regular army at Chang, these warriors, characterized by the Holy Church and exuding sanctity and grandeur, were even taller. Clearly, these absolute, direct elites transferred from the Golden Holy Domain were Ate’s confidence in going to war with the Rushing Wolf Regiment.
Some wielded halberds, while others held cannons forged from holy stones. The warriors emerging from the portal immediately formed ranks and unleashed the first volley.
Instantly, solar flares shot from the holy stone cannons, raining down like a deluge. The lead wolves immediately came under saturation fire. Faced with these volleys, even the lead wolves dared not be careless and quickly retreated.
It wasn’t that they couldn’t withstand the volleys, but rather that the sudden intruders had thrown them into confusion.
“This is…”
“Pillar of the Holy…”
“Why are these Holy Descendants here in the Rushing Wolf Regiment’s territory! Weren’t they fighting the Dragon Species?!”
“Oh, has it come so soon?”
Muge shielded her eyes with one hand, gazing into the distance.
Yonglan had mentioned calling for reinforcements, but he had only briefly, mysteriously hinted at it.
However, she hadn’t expected it to be an entire fleet from the Pillar of the Holy! They could even be described as a main force. As the warships descended, a massive, colossal divine weapon was erected on the ground, powered by a large-scale Light Forging Artifice.
A hundred-meter-tall giant, with quasi-physical, chaotic wings forming a curtain behind it, shrouded the multitude of the Holy Army.
The divine soldier’s armor was filled with sacred silver-white and radiant gold hues, like an accumulation of steel wings, majestic and imposing. The colossal sword or long spear it wielded was of exaggerated length. Even without considering the energy and power contained within its runes, its solid material, forged from precious alloys, was enough to destroy cities and mountains.
“Light Forged Divine Soldier… How long has it been since the Pillar of the Holy deployed such a weapon? They haven’t brought them out since the Succession War. Damn it! They’re actually this wary of us!”
The Royal Knights possessed the inherited Artifice, Knight Mechs, a gift from the Primal King. While the Holy Descendants, who considered themselves favored children of the Primal King, offered empty praise, they strictly forbade others from controlling their technology. Thus, the Holy Descendants recreated the capabilities of the Knight Mechs using the art of Light Forging.
The ultimate result was the current Light Forged supreme creation, the Light Forged Divine Soldier, a Construct equivalent to the combat power of a Hero Tier.
But these were not the crucial points. The key was that to summon the Light Forged Divine Soldier, the Artifice had to be prepared locally beforehand. Now, it appeared that the Pillar of the Holy had been in the Rushing Wolf Regiment’s airspace all along, drawing up the Artifice above the sky and clouds, prepared to deploy the Light Forged Divine Soldier at any moment.
The lead wolves were dumbfounded, followed by immense grief and indignation. They couldn’t comprehend the Pillar of the Holy’s intentions at all. While the Rushing Wolf Regiment certainly didn’t wholeheartedly accept the Pillar of the Holy’s rule and intended to take its place, surely the priority ordering wasn’t like this!
They hadn’t even made a move yet! Were they that easy to handle?! Picking on the weak.
“Muge, did you know about this?”
“You scoundrel, not only did you betray the wolf pack, but you’re colluding with outsiders to invade?”
“Hmph, I knew you had the guts to defect! So that’s where your confidence was from!”
“How much did the Pillar of the Holy give you!”
Muge remained indifferent to her compatriots’ accusations. She simply gazed in fascination at the Light Forged Divine Soldier walking steadily on the ground, and at the warships gradually descending.
Each inch of these magnificent and exquisite warships seemed like a work of art, inscribed with sacred carvings and patterns. Their Spirit Matter sails unfurled gracefully, filling the dark sky with radiance while chanting timeless hymns.
Evidently, this was art that deeply appealed to Muge’s aesthetic.
The lead wolves no longer had the energy to deal with the white-haired wolf descendant. They soon faced the combined assault of the Light Forged Divine Soldier and the Holy Descendant Chanters.
Jiulu and Ate also entered their combat forms. The Holy Descendant Chanters sent out on missions were basically experts of Hero Tier. Yonglan had never seen Holy Descendants fight with such power before.
They immediately armed themselves with Light Forging techniques, changing out of their Monk robes.
Even so, the battle attire of the Chanters was no less simple than their everyday clothes.
Pure white hooded robes, with mystical gold runes embroidered at the edges. The light armor of gold and silver also bore similar runes, magnificent and noble.
Jiulu raised her head slightly, the mask beneath her hood falling away to reveal features as exquisite as a doll’s, without a single flaw.
Whether it was her delicate nose, cherry lips, or the curves of her face, everything was flawless. Her slightly raised, pale eyebrows made the Chanter appear like a beautiful maiden from a fairy tale, so ethereal she seemed unreal.
The Holy Descendant Chanter raised an arm encased in silver-gray vambraces. Wing-like constructs of brilliant golden light circled around her, slowly rotating.
Diving down from the sky, an incredibly swift offensive followed. Having chosen the Rushing Wolf Regiment as their enemy and target, the Pillar of the Holy abandoned their usual amiable demeanor of elder siblings and began to thoroughly beat their younger siblings.
Under the combined assault of Jiulu, Ate, and the Light Forged Divine Soldier, the encirclement that the lead wolves had organized was torn to shreds. Furthermore, they were disheartened and no longer had the will to fight due to this turn of events. After feigning resistance for a few moments, they retreated while fighting, eventually withdrawing one after another.
All that remained was a scene of devastation and large numbers of suppressed Rushing Wolf Regiment assassins.
One lead wolf even failed to escape due to covering the retreat and was captured by Jiulu after being forced to her knees.
“Using the power of the Pillar of the Holy? This was unexpected, but not bad.”
Muge looked at Yonglan, placed a hand on her chest, and bowed solemnly to him before saying:
“After all, I am quite interested in the ancient art of the Pillar of the Holy.”
“If there’s time, I’d be happy to appreciate it with you, but now is not the time.”
Yonglan declared with swiftness and vigor:
“The Pillar of the Holy’s army is not prepared for a prolonged stay in the Rushing Wolf Regiment’s territory, so we must achieve success in one fell swoop and overthrow the Rushing Wolf Regiment with a blitzkrieg.”
This was also something Ate had agreed upon with Yonglan beforehand. The Pillar of the Holy would not provide further aid to this Holy Army. Despite their formidable foundation, it would be extremely unfavorable if they were to fall into a protracted war.
Therefore, Yonglan’s intention was to end it quickly. All authority within the Rushing Wolf Regiment resided with the Wolf Emperor. Once the amalgamation of ancestral souls was dealt with, this colossus would immediately lose its leadership. At that point, establishing Muge’s dominant position within the Rushing Wolf Regiment would be effortless.
“So urgent?”
Muge smiled, shrugged, and said:
“Alright, then let’s not waste any time and head directly to the Wolf Emperor’s royal court.”
