Chapter 210: You’re Not the Only One Who Can Play With Time
Chapter 211: You’re Not the Only One Who Can Play With Time
“Damn it, is this a technical sweep?”
The Godslayer, watching this scene from the sky fortress, could barely contain himself. While he hadn’t expected his cannon fodder constructs to break through the Bone Tomb’s defenses, being wiped out before even touching the walls felt excessive.
“The Bone Tomb is a sanctuary created by Celestial Gods; it’s designed to overwhelm in every aspect.”
Shariel remained calmer. “However, even Hram’s Bone Tomb has limits to its counterattack. There will come a moment when it’s exhausted. This artifice seems to activate automatically against any intruder, so it could be used to drain their resources indefinitely.”
“And from what I know of my kin, their arrogance is ingrained. They’re unlikely to interfere with such petty skirmishes.”
Yonglan chimed in, “Meaning they won’t repair the barrier? Then there’s no problem. Move the manufacturing facility to the front lines, use the constructs as cannon fodder, and don’t bother making them too good. Just a crude, moving embryo will suffice.”
Compared to the rigid nature of Hram’s Bone Tomb, the tactics of the Mortal World Kingdom were far more flexible. Soon, massive numbers of cannon fodder constructs rolled off the assembly line and marched towards Hram’s Bone Tomb, only to be ground into dust by searing white beams of destruction, without exception.
This continued for a long time before Yonglan finally decided to act personally. He leaped directly from the sky fortress.
Descending from the heavens was an almost routine maneuver for Yonglan. In most battles, the Godslayer would arrive on the battlefield with a “Great Desolation Starfall” and go on a rampage, holding nothing back. To create an overwhelming impression, Yonglan filled his Remnant Smelter to the brim from the start. The “Heavenly Purge Spear,” a pure white, radiant sword-spear, was covered in True Red fire.
The moment the Godslayer fell, the Path of Ultimate Art and the True Soul Sanctuary were activated simultaneously, followed by igniting the Divinity fuel. An immense and overbearing power cracked the Earth outside the Bone Tomb’s walls. The hard soil and rock were pulled by a colossal gravitational force, transforming into tidal waves that swept across the land.
This was merely a prelude to the king’s descent; the real impact damage came from the thrust of the Heavenly Purge Spear. Since acquiring this new sword-spear, Yonglan had almost forgotten about the Soul Devouring Blade.
The two weapons were not in the same league. The Heavenly Purge Spear’s edge was truly invincible, and its energy output efficiency was far superior to the Soul Devouring Blade, even the rate of Divinity combustion.
“BOOM—”
A light akin to millions of thermonuclear explosions ignited at the tip of the sword-spear. The barrier protecting the Bone Tomb’s walls, along with swarms of Light Forged divine soldiers, were instantly engulfed in an ultimate destructive heat and light.
They were annihilated in an instant.
The miracle of the Bone Tomb’s wall, built from countless Divine Constructs and intricate runes, didn’t last a second. The kilometers-long rampart was completely pulverized. However, this was merely Yonglan’s welcoming gift.
He had activated his amplification to the fullest, not just to breach the city’s defenses. With True Red fire and blinding light intertwining, the figure enveloped by the Heavenly Purge Spear’s radiance continued to advance, soaring through the sky.
Behind the Bone Tomb’s wall lay another defensive base. Numerous artifices and turrets were densely packed across the flat land, faintly shimmering with a pale golden light, resembling transistors woven onto electronic components. Of course, this was from Yonglan’s aerial perspective; up close, it might have been incredibly magnificent.
But it didn’t matter; Yonglan intended to destroy it all.
Soaring in the sky, Yonglan infused Spirit Matter into his sword-spear and unleashed a charged light cannon downwards. Large swathes of the defensive bases were wiped away as if by an eraser. Amidst the crackling sparks and arcing electricity, the defensive bases forged by Hram’s gods vanished in moments.
He rampaged unopposed, leveling the land, with warships following behind him. Upon entering the Bone Tomb’s barrier, they too began their wholesale destruction. Offending the Bone Tomb was already a grave sin, but the Celestial Gods wouldn’t intervene as long as they didn’t breach it, being too busy fighting amongst themselves.
However, breaching the Bone Tomb’s wall was another matter entirely. The continuous chaos finally drew the attention of Hram’s gods.
While Yonglan and his companions wreaked havoc, they also kept an eye out for the imminent arrival of Hram’s gods.
“How will they intervene?”
Yonglan asked Shariel. To be honest, he was confident in his ability to defeat any single Celestial God or Fiend now. But facing multiple Celestial Gods would indeed be troublesome.
Still, Yonglan didn’t plan to defeat all of Hram’s gods in a short period. This was bound to be a long tug-of-war. As long as they didn’t unite to confront him… considering the relationship among Hram’s gods, this was unlikely.
“I don’t know.”
Shariel shook her head expressionlessly. “For the past few hundred years, I’ve been visiting the Bone Tomb in secret. I know almost nothing of my former kin’s experiences, only that they’ve been exploring the limits of the Seed of Fire. By now, they’ve likely developed something.”
“Is that so…”
Yonglan nodded. As he pondered, the sky suddenly lit up, and one after another, majestic wills projected downwards.
The Celestial Gods didn’t descend directly but conveyed messages:
“I see. My King, you no longer intend to hide from us? What do you wish to do now?”
“Is this your choice, Shariel?”
“A Godslayer capable of targeting us? Heh, truly remarkable. Only now have you steeled your heart?”
“But, isn’t it a bit too late?”
Hram’s gods spoke one after another. Yonglan frowned, and just as he was about to say something, a brilliant meteor streaked down from the sky, plunging towards the Earth.
“Witness how far the Seed of Fire you bestowed upon us has been developed!”
“You’re not the only one who can play with time!”
“BOOM—”
Yonglan braced himself for impact. However, it wasn’t an onslaught of energy. The moment it touched the ground, everything seemed to lose its color, fading into extreme greyness.
Accompanied by flickering, indistinct flashes, Yonglan’s vision cleared to reveal a battlefield littered with ruins.
Countless corpses lay scattered haphazardly, some piled into small mountains.
Torsoes pierced by spears, flesh mangled by axe blades, bodies charred by flames… innumerable corpses in various states of death lay everywhere. The bodies, armor, and weapons of soldiers covered almost the entire ground.
This purgatorial scene rendered Yonglan silent, his mind frozen.
If he wasn’t mistaken, this… this was the very scene from when he first entered Sams!
The subsequent narration confirmed his suspicion.
[The Godslayer returned to the starting point of his journey. Banishment without a direct confrontation with the enemy made him realize that he was not the only one who could manipulate the Law of Time.]
