Chapter 110: Assist from Classmate Nakamura
The train car was quite spacious, and perhaps because it was past the evening rush hour, the extremely crowded situation that Kazumi had imagined didn’t happen. However, there were still no available seats.
Since the two of them only had to travel three stops, it wasn’t too tiring. After standing for a short while, they reached their destination, Nishikawa Station.
The young girl’s state wasn’t affected by the sudden emotions that arose earlier. This was perhaps the disadvantage of being a girl; they were always swayed by strange emotions.
But for Kazumi, this was merely pity for the young boy, and it wouldn’t affect what she had to do.
“Let me see the map. For the mall, we need to go out through this exit. Follow me.”
Grabbing Sato Shinichi’s sleeve to prevent them from getting separated by the station crowd, Kazumi took out her phone to check the exact location of their destination.
But before Kazumi could find the exit she wanted to go through, an uncertain shout came from behind them.
“Kiyomizu-san?!”
Kazumi, who clearly heard someone calling her, stopped and turned her head with some confusion. Then she saw a short-haired girl in casual clothes smiling and greeting her.
“You are…”
Looking at the girl who seemed to recognize her, Kazumi felt a sense of familiarity pop up. She raised her hand, trying to recall the girl’s name.
“Nakamura-san!”
Then another shout came from behind her, instantly reminding Kazumi of this female classmate sitting behind her, named Nákamura Yū.
“Oh, Sato-kun is here too? Good evening, both of you.”
Seeing Sato Shinichi’s signature golden hair, Nakamura Yū smiled and greeted him, then walked up to them.
“Sato-kun, are you two on a date?”
With a hint of a smile in the corner of her eyes, Nakamura Yū looked at the young boy and girl in front of her with curiosity. After all, as the one sitting behind Kiyomi Kazumi, she knew how cold this girl, who seemed uninterested in everything around her, was.
And for such a cold girl who even struggled to talk to her, to actually be in a school romance like a normal girl. Nakamura Yū was really curious about what they were like when they were together.
“Ah, yes, I’m accompanying her to the mall over here. Nakamura-san, I remember you live around here, are you just back from going out?”
As long as she wasn’t talking to Kazumi alone, Sato Shinichi’s brain seemed to function normally. He was impeccable in how he interacted with people and spoke. He only became a bit unnatural when the topic of dating was brought up.
“Yes, I was having dinner with Yuzu and the others at Taikouya, but I had something temporary to do, so I came back early.”
Nakamura Yū was also a cheerful girl. She struck up a conversation with the two of them very naturally, talking about how she went out to eat with some other classmates. She then patted her chest and said that she was familiar with this area and could take them to the nearest exit of the department store.
“But I really didn’t expect Sato-kun to be with Kazumi-san!”
Leading them towards exit four, Nakamura Yū didn’t rest. Looking at the two of them standing close together, yet as if something was separating them, she turned and asked Sato Shinichi, who was paying attention to the girl beside him.
“Why would you say that?”
The young boy looked up and at Nakamura Yū, who had asked the question.
“Hmm… how should I put it? Probably because of your personalities. Sato, you seem like a carefree person, right? And Kazumi-san’s personality… before this, the people who talked to her the most, besides Teacher Ishiryu, would probably be me.”
“So everyone thinks it’s incredibly magical when people like you, who seem unlikely to have any interaction at first glance, get together!!”
As if seeing something astonishing, Nakamura Yū said with her hands on her chest, in a rather exaggerated manner.
“Everyone…”
Kazumi’s mouth twitched at Nakamura Yū’s exaggerated words, and she didn’t say anything. Or rather, she didn’t actively communicate much with anyone other than Sato Shinichi. If it wasn’t necessary, she could even not speak at all, just like her former self had always done in class.
“That’s not true at all!!”
However, Sato Shinichi’s reaction seemed a bit too strong. He raised his voice a notch, interrupting Nakamura Yū’s words, and said earnestly.
“Kazumi-chan is just not very good at talking to people, but she’s actually a really, really good person, with a great personality, and she’s very cute, and she’s so organized, and…”
The young boy seemed to be talking about something very important. He stopped and started counting his girlfriend’s good points on his fingers. as her boyfriend, he wouldn’t allow his girlfriend to be seen that way by others.
“There’s no need to talk about this so openly!”
Then, a cold little hand firmly covered Sato Shinichi’s mouth. Kazumi, with a blushing face and an angry expression, used her full force, as if she wanted to suffocate him, to stop the loose-tongued dog from saying another unnecessary word.
Looking at the remarkably “harmonious” duo in front of her, Nakamura Yū raised an eyebrow slightly, finding their way of interacting somewhat surprising…
The distance in the subway station platform was not long to begin with. Soon, the three of them reached the exit.
Nakamura Yū was not someone without tact. Knowing that the two of them were definitely out on a date, she didn’t want to be a third wheel and planned to leave after a brief farewell.
But looking at the two of them standing together, Nakamura Yū felt something was not quite right. Then, as if she had an epiphany, she thought of something.
She turned back, walked up to the two of them, grabbed Kazumi’s right hand, and then took Sato Shinichi’s sleeve with her other hand. Finally, under their puzzled gazes, she gently placed their hands together.
Nodding with satisfaction, Nakamura Yū said in an approving tone to the stunned couple in front of her.
“Sato-kun, Kazumi-san, I said I felt something was missing. What kind of couple goes on a date without holding hands!!”
“Alright, have a great date, you two. I’m heading back now. See you tomorrow~”
Waving to the two in front of her, Nakamura Yū looked at them, still standing still, with a satisfied smile on her face. She then turned and walked in the direction of her home.
All that was left was the young boy and girl at the entrance of the subway station, holding hands and standing there, a little bewildered.
