Chapter 29: Aftermath
Su Jun paced back and forth, exiting the private room. As soon as she looked up, she saw the blond young man standing not far away, paying with his phone. She quickly walked over in three steps.
“Hey!”
Sato Shinichi, who had just finished paying and put away his phone, felt the back of his collar being gently patted. He turned his head in confusion, only to see an incredibly familiar face.
“Kiyomizu-san!”
He called out excitedly. No matter how many times he looked, his girlfriend was always so cute!
“Um, Sato-kun, can I ask you a question?”
Su Jun tilted her head slightly, feeling a bit uneasy, avoiding Sato Shinichi’s intense gaze as she spoke.
“Of course, Kiyomizu-san can ask whatever you want.”
Hearing Su Jun’s words, Sato Shinichi immediately straightened up, patting his chest with a resounding thud, looking as if he would “pluck the stars from the sky for you.”
“It’s just… Sato-kun, did you really come here by chance?”
Touching his chin, Su Jun looked at the “rare beast” boyfriend in front of her with a slight headache and asked her question.
“Ah… well, that is…”
Unexpectedly, Su Jun asked this question. He thought that since Su Jun had invited him to have lunch together and even introduced him to Mr. Fukada, who raised her, she wouldn’t pursue this matter. But it turned out she had noticed.
Sato Shinichi stammered, unsure whether to reveal the truth of the matter.
“If it’s inconvenient to say, Sato-kun, then forget it…”
Seeing Sato Shinichi’s awkward expression, Su Jun thought to herself that there was definitely something wrong, but she didn’t press the issue. Instead, she said faintly, but the hint of resentment and sadness in her eyes was clearly seen by Sato Shinichi.
“It’s nothing like that!!”
When Sato Shinichi saw his girlfriend’s pitiful and resentful expression, his heart melted. He didn’t care about his master’s previous instructions and spilled everything.
“I, I never intended to deceive Kiyomizu-san!”
“Today, after training with my grandfather, I came to the shopping street to eat. Then I saw you and Uncle Fukada not far away, and I was worried…”
“So I followed you, and happened to meet you at the entrance.”
“I absolutely don’t distrust Kiyomizu-san, I was just really worried. Because Kiyomizu-san rarely talks about family matters with me…”
Sato Shinichi, after a long speech, found his voice growing quieter towards the end. After all, it was indeed too much for him to act like this when he was in a relationship with his girlfriend.
[Oargh, so he just suspected I was a girl going out to trade vital energy with an old man!]
Hearing Sato Shinichi’s explanation, Su Jun’s first reaction was relief.
[There’s absolutely nothing to be happy about in this kind of situation, being suspected by your boyfriend of trading vital energy.]
[No! Why did I default to him being my boyfriend again!!!]
After a period of frantic self-chatter in her heart, Su Jun let down her previous vigilance and defenses. This matter was probably just a misunderstanding. At the very least, she didn’t have to worry about some bald man suddenly appearing and beating her up.
“Training?”
Her girlfriend’s focus was always a bit different from others. Shouldn’t she be grabbing ahold of this point of suspicion and scolding him severely?
Sato Shinichi, who had accidentally let slip, didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at this moment. The incredibly cute Kiyomizu-san, like a little angel, didn’t seem to mind his excessive behavior, but now this point that he had been caught on made it too difficult for him to answer.
“Uh… well… that…”
Sato Shinichi quickly rubbed the back of his head with his palms, feeling as if his scalp were about to be peeled off. But no matter what, he couldn’t bring himself to say anything that would deceive Su Jun.
Looking at Su Jun’s dark pupils devoid of any emotion, Sato Shinichi took a deep breath, as if he had made a firm decision, and slowly said.
“Actually, my grandfather, he is a retired hero…”
…
At the same time, in the small private room where Su Jun was earlier.
The moment Fukada Akihiko heard Hamano Tsukasa mention the name “[Shadow]”, he immediately stood up and slammed his palm on the table, shattering the bowls and chopsticks in front of him.
The smooth and greasy eyes of the ordinary office worker instantly became sharp and cold. The killing aura emanating from him was released overwhelmingly towards the old man in sunglasses.
“Excuse me, what exactly are you talking about? I don’t quite understand.”
Hamano Tsukasa sat in his seat, continuing to cut the meat in his hand as if he hadn’t said that sentence. Without any pressure, he picked up another piece of grilled meat and put it into his mouth, and then slowly said:
“Young people nowadays, why are they so hot-tempered?”
“Who are you?!”
Seeing that his killing aura was like a stone sinking into the sea, with no reaction, Fukada Akihiko immediately judged that the person in front of him was definitely an expert. If he had exposed himself, why hadn’t any heroes appeared around him?
Also, what about Kazumi? Has she been noticed by them? Has she been controlled?
Thinking of this, Fukada Akihiko could no longer maintain his disguise as an office worker. Black, silent energy began to surge around him. His greasy slicked-back hair, under the effect of the energy, all floated upwards, and his entire being instantly transformed into a terrifying aura.
“Me? I’m just an ordinary old man. I’m old now, and I’m useless.”
Looking at the aura displayed by Fukada Akihiko, Hamano Tsukasa’s eyes, hidden behind his sunglasses, flashed with a spark, but he still calmly continued to speak.
“Since you’re not saying anything, then I won’t hold back.”
Unable to endure this meaningless probing any longer, Fukada Akihiko’s priority now was to eliminate the strange old man in front of him, then kill his way out to take Su Jun away, and finally break through the encirclement of the heroes.
He pointed his right hand forward directly, and countless streams of black energy emerged from his shadow, carrying bursts of whistling sounds, aiming straight for Hamano Tsukasa’s head.
But Hamano Tsukasa still sat there as if nothing had happened, as if the surrounding attacks didn’t exist. Just as the attack was about to land, a flash of electricity flickered in his cloudy eyes beneath the sunglasses.
“Crack—”
The door to the private room suddenly opened from the outside. Su Jun walked in, looking confusedly at the scene before her.
“Huh? Uncle Fukada, what are you doing standing there with your hand up?”
