Let’s Manage the Tower – Chapter 117

I’ve written about the daily life on the Management Layer, which is unusual.

The results of investigating each floor.

The 7th to 9th Floors, where wolves and foxes inhabit, now have monsters that appear to be around the level of the 41st Floor (lower intermediate).

While the 46th to 48th Floors don’t have advanced level monsters, they still average intermediate-level monsters.

I also investigated the floors inhabited by Elves and other demi-humans, as well as the floors where adventurers have advanced, but there were no changes.

Just in case, I investigated other floors that adventurers had not entered, but there were no changes there either.

Among the floors where bases are established, the floors where the monster levels have risen are those with bases where Summoned Monsters are located.

There are two differences between the bases of the Summoned Monsters and the bases on other floors.

One is whether or not various installations are set up.

However, there are many inconsistencies if this is to be the reason.

For example, the World Tree and Vermilia Castle are impressive installations, even if they are unique.

In terms of the amount of Divine Power they generate, they are orders of magnitude greater than other installed objects.

If the Divine Power generated by the installations is the cause, then it would be strange if the monsters on the 73rd and 76th Floors hadn’t gotten stronger first.

However, when I confirmed with the Elf clan and the Vampire clan, they said that the monsters had not gotten stronger.

Another thing to consider with installations is the number of installations, but this is also difficult to believe.

For Kousuke, it’s not so much difficult to think about as it is something he doesn’t want to think about.

He would rather not consider the possibility that simply installing a large number of low-cost installations would raise the level of surrounding monsters, for the sake of future planning.

Therefore, I considered another reason.

That is the installation of summoning circles.

Summoning circles are rarely installed on floors other than those where Summoned Monsters are located, so this seemed more likely as a possibility.

The summoning circles that can be installed in the tower include those for Kin Creation and regular summoning circles, but it’s unclear which is having an effect. Furthermore, it’s not clear if there’s a difference between monsters that naturally appear on each floor and monsters from regular summoning circles.

In the first place, it’s not even certain if summoning circles are having an effect, so I decided to try it out on a floor that hasn’t been touched at all.

The floor I decided to test is the 10th Floor.

I installed only a small spring (Holy Water), a stable, and a shrine (extremely small), and deliberately refrained from installing any other installations.

Then, I brought ten Tenko and ten Jiko.

Other than that, I decided not to make any changes to the 10th Floor.

In this state, I will observe to see if changes occur or not.

While no specific timeframe has been set, I plan to observe for about two or three months, and if there are no changes, I will then periodically install summoning circles for subjugation.

If changes occur then, it can be concluded that it is due to the summoning circles… or so it should be.

It will be a long battle, but that’s just how it is.

It’s not as if the monsters have leveled up beyond the familiars.

Since it’s beneficial in terms of Divine Power, there’s no need to rush to investigate the reason for the monster level-up, and Kousuke decided that it’s probably not a problem.

“So? How did the Hiryu riding training go?”

While Kousuke had been investigating the level-up of appearing monsters for the past few days, Shurein and the others had been diligently practicing Hiryu riding.

I couldn’t help but wonder if the floors they managed were okay, but recently they’ve been stable with no particular problems, so they’re probably fine.

“No problems.”

Shurein answered on behalf of the group.

“Heh.”

They seemed to have gained considerable confidence in just a few days.

“What? You don’t trust me?”

Colette said, reacting to Kousuke’s half-hearted reply.

Kousuke hastily waved his hands.

“No, sorry. That’s not it. I was just thinking about something…”

“So you were listening with your mind elsewhere?”

“…Sorry.”

Sensing that the situation was unfavorable, Kousuke decided to apologize honestly.

Seeing Kousuke like that, Colette returned to her usual expression and asked.

“…So? What were you thinking about?”

“Ah, no, it’s nothing much.”

“?”

“Well, I was just wondering what we’re having for dinner tonight.”

At that answer, Shurein and the others’ eyebrows shot up.

“Whoa, wait. I already said I was sorry for that…”

As Kousuke was about to prostrate himself, the four of them let out sighs.

At dinner.

Tonight’s dinner is Mitsuki’s creation.

Whether it’s unexpected or natural, Mitsuki is actually the best cook among the members.

Mitsuki is usually responsible for almost all the meals on the Management Layer.

Of course, if Kousuke goes out and Mitsuki has other things to do, another member will cook.

By the way, the next best cook after Mitsuki is Peach.

After that are Colette, Silvia, Kouhi, Shurein, and Kousuke.

Shurein and Kousuke have hardly ever cooked, so it’s a case of comparing two similarly unskilled people.

Shurein, being raised as a princess, never had the opportunity to cook.

In his previous world, Kousuke was the type of person who relied on convenience store bento boxes.

Recently, with the management of each floor settled down, it has become commonplace for them to all have dinner together.

In the beginning, it was common for someone to be missing, but this can be seen as proof that the tower’s operations have become much more stable.

At mealtimes, they have decided not to talk about the tower, but to have casual conversation.

No one specifically decided this, but it just turned out that way.

Since they talk about managing the tower when they see each other, it’s an unwritten rule to have meals be a time for something else.

However, sometimes, especially for Kousuke, conversations can drift into dangerous territory.

For example, a conversation like this.

“Oh. Peach, did you have a ring like that?”

Colette, sharp-eyed, noticed the ring on Peach’s finger and said so.

“This one? Kousuke-sama bought it for me before.”

The bomb dropped by Peach caused the other members’ gazes to focus on the ring, and then turn towards Kousuke.

It was a moment where I truly understood the saying, “The eyes speak louder than words.”

“No, wait. It’s not just Peach; I should have given one to everyone, right?”

At Kousuke’s answer, everyone sighed.

“I thought it was just for me…”

“There’s no letting your guard down…”

“How should I put it, as expected…”

“He’s a charmer~…”

“Master…”

“So natural…”

Unusually, Kouhi and Mitsuki also looked at him with astonished expressions.

Kousuke thought, “Wait a minute,” at their responses, but wisely didn’t say anything.

In fact, Kousuke didn’t give those rings out of his own volition; he only bought them because each of them pestered him for them.

However, he knew from past experience that saying so now would be counterproductive.

Kousuke, too, had grown accustomed to his life here, which had been going on for quite some time.

Therefore, I covered the matter of the monsters leveling up.

It’s too much for humans and demi-humans to live if monsters just level up by being defeated, so they are leveling up for other reasons.

I haven’t gotten clear results yet, though.

(I also want to touch on the difference between regular monsters and Summoned Monsters someday.)

While returning from work, I was run over by a car. At that time, my soul goes out and was transferred to another world. The goddess I met sent me out to the world she manages. In that world, I captured a tower and managed it. I accepted various demi-human races(including humans) in the tower to develope it.
