Chapter Ten: His Highness the Princess
Guided by the maid, Yifu led Leia into the resplendent palace.
Along the way, although Leia was suppressing her excitement, she couldn’t help but let out a series of adorable little gasps.
She was amazed by the luxury of the imperial palace, while also feeling extremely self-conscious about her own lack of experience.
Especially when she saw the decorations in the corridor, the deep red carpet felt so soft underfoot that it was like walking on clouds from the edge of the sky.
And the portraits of past monarchs displayed along the sides, each depicted with an air of superiority, filled Leia’s heart with a sense of trepidation.
Looking down at her cheap dress, the rough fabric speckled with conspicuous mud, her feelings of inferiority intensified.
It seemed even the decorative flowers placed in the corridor were more dignified than Leia.
Poverty stood before the young girl’s self-esteem like an insurmountable barrier.
She could only timidly follow closely behind Yifu, as if this was the only way to feel slightly grounded.
She dared not glance around, fearing she might see something luxurious that she had never encountered before; even a curtain would be enough to leave her awestruck.
At this age, children are often the most self-conscious; she worried she might inadvertently reveal her nervousness.
“…”
Just as Leia was keeping her head down and walking closely behind Yifu, Yifu suddenly stopped.
Leia, distracted, bumped right into Yifu’s soft and curvaceous rear.
This jolt left Leia a bit dazed; she felt as if her face, upon touching Yifu’s almost perfect curves, had bounced back slightly.
This made her feel quite embarrassed.
“Why are you so downcast behind me? This is the imperial palace, and it’s rather impolite to meet His Highness the Princess like this.”
Yifu noticed Leia’s embarrassment and knelt down gently to wipe the dirt and tears from Leia’s face.
As Leia looked at Yifu’s breathtaking features up close, her tension and anxiety were significantly eased.
“Be a little more confident; it’s okay. Hold my hand, alright?”
After soothing Leia in a gentle tone, the maid who was responsible for leading the way stood by indifferently, her gaze revealing a hint of curiosity as she looked at Yifu.
“Okay…”
Leia’s voice trembled slightly as she carefully placed her small hand into Yifu’s.
“Ladies, this way please; His Highness has been waiting for quite some time.”
The maid said as she opened a door beside her, and with the crisp sound of a lock turning, what came into Leia’s sight was an exquisitely luxurious reception room, with every detail overwhelming her senses.
The most luxurious and comfortable room she had ever encountered in her life was the faculty office at the Church Academy, but students were not allowed to linger there, and Leia had only seen it a few times…
But this place was clearly hundreds of times more extravagant than the office she remembered.
The most eye-catching element was the princess sitting on the sofa, gracefully savoring the red tea in her hand.
She resembled the most exquisite doll in the world, and just a glance left Leia nearly breathless; she was truly beautiful.
A ray of sunlight from outside fell perfectly on the princess, highlighting her stunning golden hair, and Leia thought she must be the most dignified and elegant woman in the world.
“Your Highness, I have brought them here.”
The maid nodded slightly and spoke respectfully.
“Thank you for your hard work. Ladies, please come in; there’s no need to be polite.”
The princess’s voice was also very gentle, which further confirmed Leia’s judgment.
This princess must be the most dignified and elegant woman in the world!
But Leia was a bit curious as to why Yifu’s expression seemed somewhat unnatural?
Especially when the princess smiled brightly like a blooming flower upon seeing Yifu, while Yifu seemed to express more hesitation and difficulty at that smile.
