Chapter 53: She Can Only Be Gentle with Me
Looking at the exquisite dress in front of her, Leia racked her brains, seemingly unable to describe its stunning beauty.
Leia had seen beautiful dresses before, as she attended the Church Academy, a prestigious noble academy where even casually throwing a brick could hit four or five nobles and aristocrats.
There, the leisure activities of the wealthy youth were incredibly abundant.
The graduation ceremony dinner party was just the tip of the iceberg; their usual entertainment could be described as a dazzling array of options.
They frequently held balls that cost thousands of gold coins, or engaged in equestrian activities, among other pastimes accessible only to nobles.
Each time, Leia could only glance from afar before lowering her head and quickly leaving.
Those young ladies, adorned in magnificent dresses, were unbearable for Leia to look at; even a mere glance was devastating for a girl her age.
After all, who doesn’t want to dress up beautifully?
Even if it’s not for anyone else, just spinning in front of a mirror in a luxurious and refined gown would make Leia very happy.
She had worn the finest clothes: one was the uniform of the Church Academy, and another was a little dress she had managed to buy on sale, intended for a pretty send-off with Yifu from this world.
Besides these, she had never worn anything beautiful again.
“Do you like it?”
Yifu emerged from the kitchen, unable to suppress a smile upon seeing Leia’s astonished expression.
It was worth her late-night effort last night to finally finish making this dress.
Perfectly fitting Leia’s figure and temperament, it was a one-of-a-kind gown, uniquely belonging to her precious daughter.
Even before wearing it, it was already stunning; Yifu couldn’t even imagine how beautiful it would look on its owner.
“Is it made for me? Can I really deserve this…”
Leia’s voice trembled slightly.
“How can you not deserve it? Do you want to try it on? I’ll help you.”
Yifu squatted down and gently patted Leia’s head.
At that moment, Leia noticed the injuries on Yifu’s fingers, especially several obvious needle marks that were quite alarming to see.
“Mom, your hands?”
“It’s nothing; after so many years without making clothes, my hands are a bit unaccustomed. A few mistakes are to be expected.”
Leia ignored Yifu’s explanation, holding Yifu’s hand with concern. Looking at the scars, her eyes unknowingly became blurred with tears.
Throughout her life, she had never experienced love; the only light in her life was Yifu, who had once supported her.
She had thought that Yifu’s appearance in her life was already the limit of kindness.
But she never dreamed that one day, she would receive all of Yifu’s love.
Those scarred, beautiful hands were the best proof of that.
“Doesn’t it hurt?”
Yifu’s hands were beautiful, which made the scars all the more glaring.
Logically, with such beautiful hands, they should be well protected.
But for Leia’s sake, Yifu not only used those hands to cook and do laundry, but also tirelessly helped her make the most beautiful dress overnight.
Yifu did not go back on her word; she really made a dress that would amaze everyone…
However, she dedicated all her energy and affection to Leia and neglected her own hands, which were slowly becoming rough.
“No, I’m just happy that you’re happy. Why are you crying? Today is your big day; it doesn’t look good to have tears.”
Yifu gently wiped the tears from Leia’s face.
“Let’s eat breakfast first; once you’re full, I’ll help you try on the dress to see if it fits, and then we can do your makeup and hair. It’s okay if we arrive a bit late, after all, you are the star; the star always makes a grand entrance.”
“Okay?”
Yifu’s gentleness made Leia unable to stop the tears from flowing.
To be honest, she completely didn’t understand why someone as gentle as Yifu would have a fool willing to give her up.
If the one adopted by Yifu had been Leia, she would never let go of Yifu’s hand, even at the cost of her life.
But she couldn’t help but worry that Yifu would return to her former foster daughter.
After all, after so many years, the feelings developed would still be there.
This was something Leia absolutely wouldn’t allow to happen, so…
Leia looked at the dress in front of her, and a mischievous idea suddenly emerged in her heart.
It wasn’t really bad; she just planned to repeat what that cunning little wolf Vivian had done to her once she saw her.
Let’s see who is the wild child without a mother’s love now?
Who could it be? Certainly not me, Leia!
