Chapter Sixty-One: Teacher Yifu
The brightness in Alice’s eyes could hardly be concealed.
Every time she saw Yifu, her heart would start racing uncontrollably, a feeling akin to a long-awaited reunion.
Although Alice had just seen Yifu yesterday, she couldn’t help but feel that fluttering sensation every single time.
If it weren’t for the fact that there were many people around in this public place, Alice probably would have already set aside her dignity as a princess and jumped into Yifu’s arms.
Thinking of this, Alice could barely suppress the smile tugging at her lips.
Even those around her couldn’t help but gossip seeing Alice smile so charmingly, especially since she usually maintained a frosty demeanor in public. Her beaming smile surely attracted many gazes.
Everyone speculated why Alice looked so happy.
Some thought she had encountered some delightful news, while others guessed she was celebrating the graduation of a new batch of talents from the Empire…
But no one knew that this smile of hers was solely for Yifu, nor did they realize that at that moment, Alice’s eyes only had room for Yifu.
That was until her gaze met another cold yet familiar set of eyes.
“Mother, Your Majesty!”
Alice was startled; she didn’t know when her mother had arrived.
Moreover, she was talking to Yifu right in front of her.
Even though Alice only made eye contact with her mother for a brief moment, that enchanting gaze could likely be sensed by her mother.
After all, as the Empress, reading facial expressions was a fundamental skill.
Furthermore, the way Alice looked at Yifu’s graceful figure, she could easily be mistaken for a little infatuated girl.
“Perfect, she’s right here. I’ll ask for her opinion.”
Cherillian waved at Alice, who instinctively felt a little nervous and lowered her head, slowly walking in front of her mother.
When Yifu saw Alice, her expression reflected a hint of surprise, as Alice didn’t rush to embrace her but instead appeared quite obedient and adorable, making Yifu feel a bit unaccustomed.
In simple terms, she hadn’t passed the anti-counterfeiting test.
The certification for the daughter of a wealthy family involved white silk and jade bamboo, whereas the certification for Her Highness Princess Alice involved a rather silly contrast.
Without seeing these certifications, Yifu could only say things felt completely off.
“Mother, Your Majesty, why didn’t you tell me you were coming out?”
Alice pouted softly, and as she took a few steps closer to Yifu, she subtly inhaled the air around her.
Ah!
Alice sighed inwardly.
Sister, you smell so good… and I’m getting excited.
“I was just talking to Miss Yifu about your education issues. It has been two years since you dropped out of Church Academy, right? Most of your classmates have already graduated.”
“And you still haven’t achieved graduation qualifications. Are you trying to bring shame to the royal family?”
Cherillian tilted her delicate face slightly, her tone filled with authority as she directly lectured her daughter in front of Yifu.
Only now did Yifu realize that Alice had dropped out of Church Academy two years ago, which was indeed a significant matter.
Could it be that she had fallen into despair because of her own issues?
“You were inexplicably unhappy and depressed back then. Although you were unwilling to explain the reason to us, I understand.”
“However, as the future heir of the Empire, you must take your studies seriously.”
Cherillian looked at Alice, who instinctively lowered her head. Considering the special occasion, she didn’t want to be too strict, wanting to give her daughter a bit of face.
“Lift your head; this is outside, and you must maintain your composure no matter what.”
Cherillian’s seriousness made Yifu hold her breath, not daring to make a sound.
No wonder the little princess acted so silly in front of her; it turns out that with her mother pressuring her like this, she must have felt like a pressure cooker with no place to vent in the palace, so how could she not act silly in front of Yifu?
“So I consulted with Miss Yifu; her ability far surpasses all the teachers at Church Academy.”
“I have taken note of her skills and would like to hire her to give you three hours of classes each week until you complete all your studies and receive your graduation certificate from Church Academy.”
As she listened to Cherillian, Alice’s eyes lit up instinctively.
“Miss Yifu… as my private tutor?”
Every week? Three hours? Private tutor? No interruptions?
Being alone with Miss Yifu meant she wouldn’t have to maintain the princess facade, right? No, it’s even better… she wouldn’t have to wear a dress!
She could even get Miss Yifu to wear teacher’s attire and trigger a perfect exam reward scenario…
Teacher, I scored full marks on the exam, shouldn’t I receive a reward?
After all, you wouldn’t want me to deliberately fail the next exam, would you?
Woohoo!
“Right, I have great confidence in Miss Yifu, but I just need to know your opinion.”
Cherillian said, turning to look at Yifu. Meeting the Empress’s gaze, Yifu felt a tinge of nervousness.
Because the Empress was truly stunning, with a mature charm and an elevated gaze; just meeting her eyes made Yifu feel like she was about to surrender.
Madam, please, just scold me once, won’t you?
“Miss Yifu, this girl isn’t very keen on studying, but she has a good relationship with you, so I hope you can guide her well.”
Alice nodded slightly at her mother’s words; she didn’t catch much of what was said, but the words “guide her” were surprisingly clear.
Okay! I’ll guide!
