Chapter Sixty-Two: Helping You Solve Problems
“I will unconditionally obey Her Majesty the Empress’s command.”
Who wouldn’t agree to such a good thing?
Alice was already overjoyed inside; had it not been for someone watching, she would have jumped three feet high without regard for her image.
Cherillian was also surprised that her daughter, who had maintained a resistant attitude despite the many private tutors she had hired, was so agreeable this time.
However, she didn’t think too much about it; after all, Yifu was a woman, which naturally eased Cherillian’s concerns.
Moreover, Cherillian had carefully studied Yifu’s abilities, and although the previous formula had not been completely cracked yet, the value it contained was something she had clearly seen.
Hired tutors were merely a test; talents like Yifu would naturally be valued by the Empire.
Since it was a test, it would be best to keep her close. She might even help resolve her daughter’s academic issues.
“Miss Yifu, I hope you’ll take care of her from now on.”
Alice politely extended her hand to Yifu.
But as Yifu looked at that fair, delicate hand, she hesitated to reach out.
It wasn’t because the person in front of her was the princess, who was adored by everyone in the Empire, but because she feared that Alice would secretly pinch her palm again with some strange technique.
Yet not shaking hands was not an option either, which left Yifu feeling conflicted.
On the other hand, Cherillian saw things differently, thinking that Yifu might be worried about her actions being disrespectful to a royal.
But the two of them would be studying together in the future, so shaking hands wasn’t a big deal.
“It’s fine; you two just shake hands. From now on, you have to work hard together.”
“I’ll leave my precious daughter in your hands, Miss Yifu.”
Saying this, Cherillian directly took Yifu’s and Alice’s hands, forcing them to shake.
This was exactly what Alice wanted, and, as Yifu had expected, under the cover of her mother’s hand over theirs, Alice dared to act with impunity, using her delicate fingers to constantly poke at Yifu’s palm.
That motion, that frequency… Yifu worried that one day she might truly be tied up by Alice; she probably wouldn’t be able to endure more than thirty seconds.
She even imagined what Alice might say…
“Sister, sister, you’re so weak? What a pathetic fish~ You’ve dirtied the sheets, wicked sister must accept~ punishment~ oh~”
No way!
Yifu’s palm itched, but she didn’t dare to let go.
The obedient daughter in her mother’s eyes, the aloof princess in the eyes of the Empire’s citizens, was now, in front of a gathering audience, discreetly licking her lips at the delicate, timid lady with white hair before her, who seemed like a startled little rabbit…
“Then it’s settled. By the way, Miss Yifu, I have a friend who said your daughter was bullied at the Church Academy.”
“She takes it very seriously. If you had stayed for last night’s dinner party, we could have discussed this issue together.”
“But it’s alright; I came here this time to help you solve the problem. Please, let’s go to the Dean’s office.”
…
“The Empire’s royal family is very concerned about this matter! We only just got to the bottom of the bullying issue involving classmate Leia!”
“And you all, being nobles and prestigious individuals, what kind of education are you providing for your children? Their thoughts and characters are problematic!”
“Our Church Academy cannot tolerate such occurrences. Cultivating excellent character in our students has always been our primary goal!”
“If a person can’t even learn to be a person, how can they wield magic?”
In the Dean’s office, sensing that the Empress and the princess had arrived, the Dean was currently gathering the parents of the students who bullied Leia, lecturing them in an official tone.
Under normal circumstances, she would not have dared to do so.
These parents were either rich or noble, with some being descendants of those who had received merit from the Empire.
These were significant forces, and even if they made a minor mistake, the Dean would not dare to take action against them.
But today was different; her backing was greater than all these individuals combined.
How great? The princess, the Empress, and the spokesperson of the Imperial business giant Loren Family were personally concerned about this matter. With this triad behind her, the Dean felt emboldened enough to face anyone other than the emperor himself.
Knock, knock, knock.
Accompanied by a series of crisp knocks, the Dean hurriedly went to greet them.
Before even seeing them, Yifu heard the Dean’s obsequious laughter.
“Oh my, Her Majesty the Empress and Her Highness the Princess, along with Miss Yifu and classmate Leia! Please come in, please come in. We’ve been waiting for you for quite some time!”
The Dean nearly bowed at a ninety-degree angle to usher them into her office.
After all, the Empress was the Empress; her presence commanded attention.
The sound of those high heels clicking down the corridor had already caused everyone present to weaken at the knees.
Let alone now that the real person was right in front of them.
Although most of these individuals held titles or some imperial honors, very few had actually met the Empress in person.
They all stared at the white-haired lady following the Empress.
For a moment, they couldn’t understand how someone of their rank could even have a brief word with the Empress…
Was this white-haired, melancholic lady selling herself to the Empress?
How could she make the Empress stand up for her?
After all, just looking at her fragile appearance and her seemingly simple yet perfectly form-fitting outfit… a white turtleneck sweater, a black bodycon skirt, and red-soled black high heels.
The notion of selling oneself didn’t seem impossible after all.
