In the Eternal Frozen Land, the wind and frost have covered the entire Demon Clan’s city, but rather than a city, it is more like a large tribe.
Most of the Demon Clan have already moved to the Sur德 Region. Although the Sur德 Region, located in the northern border, is still extremely cold, at least the natural environment is much better than in the Eternal Frozen Land. Additionally, humans have been cultivating the Sur德 Region for a long time, making it a simple paradise compared to the Eternal Frozen Land.
Thus, this large tribe in the Eternal Frozen Land has not become more prosperous with the rise of the Demon Clan; instead, it has become somewhat more dilapidated.
However, within this large tribe, there are still quite a few inhabitants, primarily gathered in a large hole excavated by a person at the edge of the tribe.
Rather than a large hole, it is more accurately described as an abyss. The edges of the hole are steep, with black rocks frozen and cracked. Just getting close, one can feel the biting cold.
Endless darkness emanates from the bottom of the hole, as if it swallows all light, making it impossible to see what lies at the bottom.
The north wind howls at the mouth of the hole, seeming to carry an unknown whisper that sends shivers down the spine.
A Demon Clan member is cautiously along a constructed pathway, continually probing down toward this abyss.
This cave has existed since ancient times. Back then, the Demon Clan wanted to dig into this cavern, which is equivalent to a massive fortress, to withstand the cold winds. However, they unexpectedly unearthed something strange below, making it seem more like a deep underground mine.
“Dimier, haven’t we reached the bottom yet?”
A few humans are following behind the leading Demon Clan member, carrying supplies in all sizes, following Dimier as they explore downward.
These humans appear to be quite young, with the oldest possibly just having come of age. Looking down at the stinking abyss, these children are both fearful and a bit expectant.
“Why ask so many questions? Just follow quietly!”
Dimier impatiently replied. After a long period of rest, having retreated from the front lines, Dimier has begun to miss life on the front line.
Once, Dimier was also active at the forefront of fighting against lowly humans, deep in the northern border conducting reconnaissance tasks, occasionally spreading some plague virus.
Those days were carefree, and he didn’t even need to do the looting himself; he just had to follow Boss Halun, randomly finding some human bandits or Fang Ge troops. Those humans would immediately offer fine wine and food to the Demon Clan, with no danger at all.
It was at that time that Boss Halun decided to take action against a Sisterhood.
Just thinking about that Sisterhood, Dimier couldn’t help but tremble and nearly fell off the pathway.
A quick-witted human child stepped forward to support Dimier, but Dimier angrily kicked the child away.
“Can’t you see? I just stumbled a bit; I don’t need your help!”
Seeing Dimier angry, the few human children immediately knelt down to bow.
“Master, we were wrong, we’re sorry.”
One of the youngest human children didn’t react in time, but a slightly older child pressed his head down to bow.
“Hmph, that’s right. You should have some sense, understand?”
“Alright, alright, please go ahead, sir.”
The leading child smiled obsequiously as if he were a welcoming servant, causing the others to momentarily be unable to tell who was leading whom down into this terrifying abyss.
Daniel nodded in satisfaction, feeling good about himself as he led these humans further down the pathway.
At that time, a good team was left with only Daniel and another brother after being slaughtered by those terrifying human nuns. Daniel went mad then, fleeing back to the Demon Clan territory in a panic, only to be slapped awake by a small leader of the Demon Clan.
Continuously recounting the horrors of battle, Daniel spoke of the human nuns as if they were ghostly beings, killing so fiercely that their robes were stained red, with the entire squad dead, and the ground covered in the bodies and severed limbs of companions. However, Daniel faced ridicule from his companions.
Not being able to handle a Sisterhood, and still having the nerve to come back?
The Demon Clan members believed it was all a lie Daniel concocted to escape responsibility. Were nuns not supposed to be weak little lambs? Even the nuns from the Cathedral of the Blessed Mother of Relief were eventually attacked by the Demon Clan, ending up as experimental subjects.
Daniel nodded repeatedly, confirming that those nuns were indeed the ones from the Cathedral of the Blessed Mother of Relief, but the laughter from the Demon Clan compatriots grew even louder.
Another companion who fled back with Daniel, after experiencing slaps to the face, didn’t improve and went completely mad. Daniel’s testimony became a solitary proof.
In the end, Daniel was still unwilling to give up, demanding investigations. However, as the Demon Clan started to regain power, those deep into the northern border began to withdraw.
According to the returning Demon Clan members, there indeed was a Sisterhood, but that Sisterhood did not engage in combat and merely acted as a support and medical team, accompanying Emily Laurent, who had already defected to the humans, to eradicate bandits in the northern border.
The main fighting force was not the nuns, but the Lars Knights.
After that, Daniel was thoroughly ridiculed as a clown. Halun’s sacrifice became an act of greed and rashness, wiped out by the Lars Knights, and in order not to lose face, Daniel fabricated a lie, while another companion who had gone mad felt a bit of shame and could not accept failure.
Eventually, Daniel was reassigned to the Eternal Frozen Land to handle tasks related to the Demon God.
As time slowly passed away from the battlefield, Daniel even began to doubt whether what happened back then was just a dream, a fabricated lie to avoid admitting failure, a dream, and in the end, Daniel hypnotized himself into believing it.
It was true that Boss Halun had acted rashly and was ambushed by the Lars Knights; it was all Halun’s fault. Daniel didn’t want to be laughed at anymore; he had to return to the front lines to prove himself.
Now, he just needed to bring two batches of human children before the Demon God, and Daniel could return to the front lines.
Not only could he return to the front lines, but Daniel would also gain rewards, becoming a warrior of the Demon Clan once again.
As Daniel and his group went deeper, the light below the large hole diminished, and soon Daniel led these human children to a platform.
Looking at this spacious platform, Daniel couldn’t help but sigh; human slaves are indeed useful. Just a bit of food can make humans work desperately underground, and for those with children, they barely even need food.
When the Demon Clan first dug, this abyss was not so big; it could only be considered a weather-blocking hole. However, ever since human prisoners started to be brought over, this hole has been expanded into a true abyss.
“Grandfather!”
A middle-aged human with a face full of wrinkles quickly stepped forward, smiling broadly and bowing to Daniel.
But Daniel did not respond, directly saying, “Let those children go down.”
The middle-aged human nodded and immediately shouted at the children who had come down: “What are you looking at? Don’t daze; you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see later!”
Yet these children remained dazed, staring down at the enormous creature—no, whether it could be called a creature is still uncertain. It was a massive lump of flesh covered in hair, and upon closer inspection, it became clear that the lump was not covered in hair, but rather tiny tentacles, with a pair of large hooves extending from beneath the flesh mass.
Perhaps it was because of the hooves that one could identify this as a form of life.
Originally, when gazing into the mouth of the hole, the children were not looking at an incomprehensibly dark abyss but at this enormous black mass of flesh.
