White had not yet reacted to what the small mountain-like monster in the distance was, when the black meat masses on the Demon Clan bodies lying on the ground suddenly began to writhe.
Soon, those Demon Clan members who had fallen to the ground got up one by one, with black meat masses sprouting from their severed limbs, and the already dead Demon Clan began to transform into a pile of twisted black flesh.
From beneath the black flesh sprouted various hooves, which basically resembled a smaller version of Noam transformed into a monster.
As these monsters roared in anger, a new round of attacks began, and the Lars Knights, still reeling from the transformation, were caught completely off guard.
The method of attack from these black flesh monsters was to extend their tentacles and bodily charge, and although their moves were simple, they were powerful, and the twisted black flesh continued to expand, a mass that had transformed from Demon Soldiers was already taller than an armored knight on horseback.
Seeing the black monster charging towards him with its mouth wide open, a knight momentarily panicked and subconsciously raised the ray gun in his hand. A few shots of molten rays only left several shallow holes in the monster.
Although it had some effect, he was completely unable to prevent the approach of these monsters, especially when they were coming in groups.
In his panic, the knight wanted to flee on horseback but was knocked down by another monster that had revived beside him. Several monsters, like lifeless corpses, bit down on the horse’s leg that the knight had been riding.
Seeing his beloved horse let out a cry of anguish, the knight just wanted to get up and break through, but suddenly felt his mind go blank. By the time he regained his senses, his left arm had already been bitten off by a monster.
“Ahhhhh!!!”
These monsters had an extremely strong biting force and shattered his enchanted armor in just a few bites.
The Graywhite Territory reacted swiftly as well; facing this transformation, White immediately began to lead his horse to the frontline to issue commands.
The knights started using various weapons to counter these monsters. Ordinary firearms could suppress them, but unfortunately, the monsters seemed to have no sense of pain, continuing to ravenously devour the fallen knights.
“Get away from my companion!”
One knight raised his molten spear and violently pierced through the flesh of a monster, then twisted the spear to exert force, directly splitting the monster in half.
Seeing this was effective, the other knights quickly followed suit. Some, finding the spear not useful, drew out close-combat molten swords.
The monsters immediately thrusted their tentacles wildly, continuously attacking the knights who came to their rescue.
Some monsters could even use bloodline magic to enhance their attacks and defenses, plunging the knights into a bitter battle.
White had noticed that these monsters became stronger by consuming human corpses, so he immediately ordered, “Retreat, quick! Fall back!”
Some knights quickly heeded the order and reined in to withdraw, but many knights could not give up on those who had been devoured and wanted to turn back to save them. As the number of transformed Demon Clan increased, those knights soon found themselves trapped.
Fortunately, the majority managed to safely retreat.
Lauri also quickly noticed the situation on the side battlefield. The artillery immediately turned its guns, but Lauri hesitated to give the order to fire because there were still many living knights among them.
Those knights were crying out for help, and as professionals, their wails and pleas echoed magically through amplification, the sound was exceptionally loud, reverberating throughout the entire battlefield.
These monsters seemed like beasts that could only consume, without any consciousness, yet even professionals could not escape from them.
At this moment, a voice cut through all the cries for help, shouting to Lauri’s position, “Let me fire, quick!”
After this cry, those knights who had their hands and feet bitten off finally came to their senses from panic and fear, no longer begging for help, but shouting loudly, “You son of a bitch, fire already, I’m going to be eaten! Don’t let me be eaten by these disgusting things!”
“Just give me a quick death, hurry!”
Hearing these voices, Lauri finally made up his mind and issued the command.
“Fire!”
With Lauri’s order, the gunners bombarded the monsters on the flanks.
These magic cannons firing massive fireballs had a significant effect; the monsters soon began to struggle in the explosions, their black flesh burning fiercely, but still could not stop them from advancing.
Only after continuous bombardment did these monsters turn to ash and dissipate.
All this happened too quickly; Lauri was still somewhat dazed, but among the staff, there was a magic advisor who quickly deduced, “This could be some sort of dark art that transforms living beings into monsters. The Demon Clan is using this dark art to convert their own kin into those monsters we just saw, although it seems this type of monster isn’t documented in any known magic.”
Lauri stiffly nodded in agreement; whether this explanation was true or not, at least it was convincing, and those monsters did not appear to be invincible.
However, after such a turn, the impact on morale was still significant, and because all artillery was hurriedly repositioned, Hammond felt a sudden increase in pressure.
Fortunately, Darsi led a special firearm team to support Hammond by providing cover, allowing Hammond to maintain the offensive.
Noam, now transformed into a monster, felt the eerie sensation of the monsters that had transformed from the Demon Clan vanishing.
He did not expect the opposing firepower to be so fierce, capable of vanquishing a Demon God Offspring with sheer strength, but Noam could also sense that simply handling those Demon God Offspring had already taken all their effort.
What about the next wave?
The Doug Army was in chaos because the monster transformed from Noam was simply too terrifying. Many soldiers began to flee in panic, even Doug was preparing to escape with the help of his guards. However, seeing that the enemy had shifted their firepower to deal with the monsters, relieving the pressure in front, Doug now called out to rally against the monsters.
Increasing numbers of Demon Clan members were being transformed into those monsters, and even some still in the rear began to burst with flesh, transforming into Demon God Offspring.
Regardless of what kind of monster, as long as it could defeat the Graywhite Territory, Doug felt he had sold his soul to the devil.
Yet Doug still could not comprehend, if the Demon Clan could transform into such monsters, why still gather humans in the Golden Ear Plains?
However, Doug soon realized, the monster transformed from Noam suddenly began to spray black liquid from the mouths on its back. Humans contaminated by the black liquid would immediately begin to consume human flesh and blood, then turn into a pool of black rotting flesh that clung to other humans. Those humans engulfed by the black rotten flesh soon became like walking corpses.
Moreover, those humans who saw such horrifying scenes and wanted to escape were blocked by the Demon Clan lurking in the rear and were continuously driven toward the battlefield.
Those already transformed into so-called Demon God Offspring were frantically devouring humans, and their bodies were continuously growing, getting closer and closer to Noam’s size.
However, unlike Noam, those Demon Clan members lost their rationality and were shouting with their mouths in the flesh, “Offerings… bring forth, more… offerings.”
This voice did not sound like it was produced by normal vocal organs but rather seemed to resonate through magical means. Although the voice was not loud, it echoed in the ears of everyone on the battlefield.
