Although Antipa knows that the so-called Demon God is a lie, it does not hinder the Demon Clan below from believing in this so-called Demon God.
“High Priest, will the Demon God truly protect us?”
In a gathering within the Black Fog, several Demons were praying devoutly.
However, the so-called Demon God’s doctrines and prayer rituals all stem from plagiarized human religions. Thus, if religious figures were to witness this prayer scene, they would likely be unable to refrain from covering their eyes.
This is a hybrid religion that merges primitive beliefs with parts of the Goddess Church, making all rituals difficult to articulate.
“That’s natural.”
The Demon known as the High Priest gently stroked the head of the frontmost believer and said, “Otherwise, why is it that only our Demon Clan can be the offspring of the Demon God, while those lowly humans can only be eroded, becoming our food?”
“This Black Fog is an extension of the Divine Kingdom of the Demon God! Only the God’s subjects can step in; the Demon God is undoubtedly our God.”
“He is watching us, He has already listened to our prayers!”
Several Demons exchanged glances; the High Priest had been increasingly unusually fervent lately.
At that moment, a few believers stepped forward and whispered, “High Priest, His Majesty the Demon King only wishes for you to stabilize the people’s hearts. Are you going too far? You don’t really believe in that Holy Corpse, do you?”
The High Priest merely glowered coldly at the believers who approached him to whisper, retorting, “What? Don’t you believe?”
The believers were momentarily stunned; they naturally knew that the so-called Demon God was a lie, but now, this false Demon God was becoming more and more real.
The High Priest stepped further into the gathered crowd and roared, “I know some of you do not believe in the Demon God, because even our doctrine is plagiarized!”
Hearing this, the assembled believers all lowered their heads.
“But what He needs is faith, not words. Pray with your hearts! Prove your loyalty through your actions! Now, continue, let His grace descend and destroy all false gods!”
After this proclamation, the scene erupted in fervent roars; even the nearby Demon God Offspring seemed to cheer for the High Priest’s speech, not ceasing for a long while.
These Demon God believers shouted until their voices were hoarse, yet the cheers of the nearby Demon God Offspring still did not falter.
The High Priest was taken aback; wait, why did it seem like the Demon God Offspring weren’t cheering but rather wailing?
“High Priest, is it true that humans cannot step into the Black Fog?”
“That’s natural; this is the Divine Kingdom under the protection of the Demon God!”
“But, but I heard that a Lars Knight seemed to have stepped into the Black Fog before.”
The Demon God Priest seemed to have heard a joke, laughing loudly, “Even if a Lars Knight did come in, those Lars Knights would either become food for the Demon God Offspring or followers of the Demon God; how could any human enter and exit the Demon God’s realm freely?”
While they conversed, not far away, the huge Demon God Offspring that was continuously wailing seemed to respond to the words of the Demon God Priest, losing its balance and falling down.
Trembling, the Demons could no longer distinguish whether the shaking was caused by themselves or by the ground due to the fall of the Demon God Offspring.
Something terrifying was about to come.
……
The Demon God Offspring, a creature that had once almost sent the Northern Border back home, appeared trivial in Hammond’s eyes.
This larger and more terrifying Demon God Offspring was now, however, no longer feared by Hammond as it once was.
Just as the Lord Governor’s famous saying goes: all fears stem from inadequate firepower.
With all Lars Knights equipped with Powered Armor, repeating hand cannons, portable Holy Water mist shell projectiles, and chain grenade launchers, these Demon God Offspring appeared no more than that.
The flesh and blood of the fallen Demon God Offspring splattered chaotically on the ground, the scene resembling hell, yet Hammond casually picked up a piece that seemed to want to escape, still alive, and crushed it directly.
The Powered Armors of the Lars Knights had been soaked in Holy Water; the splattering flesh and blood of the Demon God Offspring almost instantly emitted white vapor from their armor as it cleaned off.
When paired with the activation of the Powered Armor, the red glow emerging from the helm’s window of the Lars Knights made them appear more fearsome than the twisted Demon God Offspring.
At least that was how it appeared in the eyes of the Demon Soldiers.
Watching the Lars Knights with red glowing eyes, white steam emitting, and wearing massive armor slowly turn to look at them in the Black Fog, the slightly less resolute Demon Soldiers crumbled, sitting dumbstruck on the ground.
Is this a dream? The rumors were indeed true; those Lars Knights actually breached the Black Fog and passed through it without obstruction.
What terrified these Demons even more was that this was a silent army, the massive armors acting like personal tools, loyally executing the order to hunt.
This silence felt out of place in a scene that should have been filled with fierce combat, as both sides vocally erupted in anger. These Lars Knights seemed no longer human; the original Black Fog that protected the Demons now appeared to be more like an accomplice to the Lars Knights, adding an eerie backdrop to these silent warriors.
The Demons were convinced that these Lars Knights were solely there to slaughter the Demon Clan.
However, at this time, within the Holy Kara.
“Damn, my head is stuck!”
“Did you forget that the helmet of the Powered Armor needs magic power to connect? Your neck isn’t that strong.”
“Shit, stepped in shit. Can’t these Demons manage the city at all? There’s not even one restroom?”
“That’s not shit, it’s the blood sludge exploded from the Demon God Offspring, you fool! Damn why doesn’t the Powered Armor have automatic cleaning? Truly disgusting!”
“It’s a mix of shit and blood sludge…”
“Alright, stop talking…”
Hammond helplessly spoke within the Holy Kara, “Let’s not mention things unrelated to fighting. There was originally no proper city planning in the Eastern Border. Since the Demons occupy the Eastern Border, they probably won’t construct anything; stepping in shit isn’t surprising, is it? Forget it, forget it, let’s move on!”
“Huh? Did I say that out loud? Damn, how did I say that again?”
“Hey, let the captain use permission to block you from talking…”
Listening to the noisy chatter inside the Holy Kara, Hammond couldn’t help but cover his helmet with his hand.
Perhaps because the Lord Governor had been too swift in using the Holy Kara, he mistakenly believed that controlling his thoughts in the realm of dreams was no difficulty. However, in reality, a majority of the Knights still couldn’t properly manage their speaking frequency, often unintentionally vocalizing their inner voices.
It seems the Lord Governor also has moments of carelessness; although it doesn’t affect usage, it seems these Lars Knights still need further training on the proper method of use.
Hammond couldn’t help but cover his face.
However, in the eyes of the Demons, the leading Lars Knight suddenly covered their head.
“Not good, those mechanical monsters are about to go out of control, run!”
