Chapter 10 Chapter 9: Giving Gifts
The class president initially found it hard to believe that Lin Wenbin would proactively complete his homework, but after a brief glance, she had to look at him with new eyes.
“Stop looking, I’ve finished it all.” Although her facial expression was slightly displeased, Lin Wenbin couldn’t get angry.
His past image was that of someone who always did his homework at the last minute. It was natural for anyone to find the sudden change strange.
“Alright then.” A smile returned to her face, and she then shifted her gaze to Lin Mu.
Compared to Lin Wenbin, Lin Mu was more proactive. She not only prepared her own homework but also took her good brother’s homework and handed it all to the class president.
“Come find me after class, I have something for you.” After collecting the homework, the class president left a message for Xiaomuqing before moving to the next desk.
Then she turned and left.
“Huh?” By the time Xiaomuqing reacted, the class president had already left. She could only see her back and couldn’t see the expression on her face.
She wanted to chase after her and ask what was going on, but the school’s preparatory bell had already rung. She had no choice but to sit back in her seat and prepare to start the morning reading.
“What did you do!?”
Just as she was setting aside her confusion and preparing to take out her books for morning reading, Lin Wenbin became agitated. He forgot his books and stared wide-eyed at Xiaomuqing, asking.
“I didn’t do anything.” Xiaomuqing replied truthfully. She didn’t even know what Lin Wenbin was talking about.
“Are you calling me an idiot? Why would she give you something for no reason? Tell me honestly, did you do something behind my back during the summer vacation!”
He refused to believe her. Seeing Xiaomuqing’s innocent expression, he became even more suspicious, his eyes filled with wariness.
“I really didn’t. I didn’t even see her during the summer vacation.” Xiaomuqing shrugge`d helplessly. She really didn’t understand and couldn’t offer an explanation.
During the summer vacation, she either worked at the coffee shop or stayed home like a shut-in (not really).
She hadn’t even seen her good brother once, let alone the class president with whom their relationship was slightly strained.
However, they did chat on VX frequently, occasionally sharing some interesting things. Xiaomuqing simply treated her as a friend and had no strange thoughts.
“I don’t believe you!” Lin Wenbin continued to stare into Xiaomuqing’s eyes, not fully convinced, even though her face looked so innocent.
“…” Speechless, Xiaomuqing saw the teacher enter the classroom and gave up on trying to communicate with him. “Believe it or not, just be jealous!”
“You…” Lin Wenbin really wanted to slam the table and stand up to question Xiaomuqing further, but seeing the teacher, he calmed down.
While he wasn’t afraid of the teacher, he was terrified of the homeroom teacher reporting to his parents, as the consequence would be losing his allowance for the next month.
The morning reading continued. Xiaomuqing didn’t know what the class president would give her, nor did she expect anything. Her earlier words were mostly to tease Lin Wenbin.
The class president also had another title: the recognized class beauty. If she received a gift, she would definitely flaunt it in front of Lin Wenbin.
The reason for this was that Lin Wenbin was rich and often boasted to Xiaomuqing about his collection of figurines. Therefore, if she had the chance, she would definitely get back at him.
So, as soon as the class ended, Xiaomuqing provocatively glanced at Lin Wenbin, then swaggered out of the classroom, acting incredibly arrogant.
“Class president, what can I do for you?” Xiaomuqing asked with a smile as she approached the class president’s desk.
Seeing her arrival, the class president slowly took out two boxes from her drawer and placed them on the desk.
“These are cookies I made last night. I wanted to give them to…” Zhang Xiaoling appeared hesitant. Looking at Xiaomuqing, who met her gaze, her expression became a bit awkward.
Out of shyness, the latter half of her sentence tumbled in her throat for a long time but couldn’t be spoken.
“Oh~” Her voice stretched, and her face showed a look of understanding. Xiaomuqing felt she had guessed something. “I get it.”
“You… you get it?” Hearing this, a faint blush suddenly appeared on Zhang Xiaoling’s face, and she looked nervous.
“You want me to deliver it to him, right? Don’t worry, leave it to me.” Leaning closer, Xiaomuqing quietly pointed at Ye Ziming, who was reading, and whispered to the class president.
Ye Ziming, on this side, seemed to sense something. As Xiaomuqing looked at him, he suddenly looked up, and their eyes met.
Perhaps this was the legendary tacit understanding.
“Ah, this…” Zhang Xiaoling’s mouth fell open, and she was suddenly stunned, her eyes vacant, not knowing what to say.
Because Xiaomuqing had indeed guessed this correctly, but not entirely.
“Ahem, I definitely won’t tell anyone. Don’t worry, class president.”
Seeing the change in the class president’s expression, Xiaomuqing became even more certain of her guess. She picked up one of the boxes and turned to return to her seat to help deliver the gift.
Her good brother, Ye Ziming, was known as the cold, aloof male god, the campus heartthrob from the snow mountain. Many girls wanted to give him gifts, and she had helped others deliver gifts many times.
Unfortunately, her good brother never accepted anything. No matter what he received, he would return it to the giver.
If he received something like a pink letter, he would even proactively hand it over to the homeroom teacher and ask the teacher to resolve the matter discreetly.
As for the small cookies that couldn’t be returned, they all very honorably ended up in Xiaomuqing’s stomach.
“Wait… wait a moment!” Seeing that Xiaomuqing was about to leave, Zhang Xiaoling suddenly came back to her senses and quickly called her back, picking up another small box.
“This… this is for you.” Raising her hand, she thrust it into Xiaomuqing’s hand.
“Huh? I get one too?” A little surprised and a little happy, the little foodie looked at the class president with confusion, already over the moon in her heart.
“Uh… yes. It is.”
It could be seen that Zhang Xiaoling’s expression was a bit unnatural. It seemed like she had struggled in her heart for a long time before nodding in affirmation.
“Wow~ Thank you, class president. Class president, you’re such a good person.”
Happily giving the class president a “good person” card, she then strode back to her seat. Before sitting down, she couldn’t resist giving Lin Wenbin a provocative glance.
Her eyes seemed to say: Be so jealous you’ll die! Nyah n-n-nyah~
Watching Xiaomuqing’s retreating back, Zhang Xiaoling slumped onto her desk like a deflated balloon, covering her head with her hands and murmuring to herself.
“Wuwuwu~ I don’t want to be a good person.”
The girl sitting next to her covered her face, or rather her eyes, with her hands. The class president’s actions just now were unbearable to watch.
“Sigh~ Why did you fall for him? Although, he is indeed good-looking, a nice person, not bad at studies, and has no major flaws.”
Her deskmate spoke to herself. While she was talking, Zhang Xiaoling, without lifting her head, perked up her ears.
As mentioned above, she was eagerly awaiting her deskmate’s next words.
