Chapter 137: Signing the Rental Agreement
After dealing with the housing matter, the two returned to their respective rooms and took a nap.
“Phew~ This feels pretty good.”
Back in her room, Xiaomuqing surveyed the space again before lying down on the bed, feeling utterly satisfied. This was much more comfortable than her old room, comfortable in every aspect.
However, after the joy, she felt a bit sad. To be honest, she was a little reluctant to leave her current home, having lived there for so many years. With this faint wistfulness, Xiaomuqing gradually closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.
When she heard a sound again, it was Ye Ziming standing outside her room, knocking and calling out to wake her up.
“Ah~”
She sat up in bed, let out a big yawn, and rubbed her eyes. She felt lazy all over after waking up and didn’t want to get up for school. How nice it would be to just sleep like this.
By the time she came to her senses, the knocking outside had stopped. Just as Xiaomuqing thought her good brother outside had stopped knocking and left, the room door suddenly swung open.
“Wow!”
Perhaps because she was still groggy from just waking up, at the moment she saw her good brother open her room door, she instinctively dove under the covers. But she quickly realized the problem the moment she grabbed the blanket and covered her head.
This was awkward. What was she even doing? Xiaomuqing was completely confused by herself.
“It’s time to get up for school.”
Looking at Xiaomuqing’s actions, Ye Ziming, standing at the doorway, raised an eyebrow. He didn’t quite understand either, but he found it a bit cute. Without scolding her or asking what was happening, he finished speaking and turned to walk towards the living room.
“Hmm~”
Feeling like her good brother had just looked at her like that, without saying anything, brought her a significant amount of shame. If she looked closely, she felt his gaze was very subtle, a half-smile. Covering her face with a pillow to calm herself down, she then formally got out of bed and tidied her bedding.
After tidying up, she walked out into the living room. Ye Ziming happened to be standing in front of her with a piece of paper and a pen.
“Rental agreement. If there are no issues, sign here as the second party.”
“Ah, this…”
Xiaomuqing’s mouth hung open and her eyes widened. Ye Ziming’s move had completely stunned her. Ye Ziming’s expression was very serious, his eyes seeming to say he wasn’t joking. Looking at the so-called agreement, it was clearly handwritten by him. The ‘three conditions’ they had just discussed were written on it, in great detail.
“Does it need to be this formal?”

“After signing, you also need to affix your fingerprint here.”

As he spoke, Ye Ziming took out a small red box to use for Xiaomuqing’s fingerprint.
“Um… alright.”
Surprised again, she nodded awkwardly after a moment and briefly glanced over the so-called contract. The content was minimal, all things they had just discussed, so she simply signed it and pressed her fingerprint.
Only then did Ye Ziming nod gently, a satisfied smile on his face. He then, as if holding a treasure, carefully folded it up and turned to put it back in his room. And hid it.
“…”
Xiaomuqing’s eyes slowly conveyed a line of ellipses. She didn’t know how to comment on this. Would such a contract be recognized by law? Moreover, there were no clauses about breach of contract, meaning there would be no penalty even if she violated it? Well, she had found a BUG.
“Boss, I’m ready.”
While her good brother was in his room, she hadn’t been idle. She went to the restroom to relieve herself and change a fresh Band-Aid, then went to the entryway to change her shoes, and finally greeted her good brother. Then they left for school together.
…
An afternoon of classes passed quickly. It was relatively peaceful, if one ignored the observer lurking in the shadows. It seemed Zhang Suxin hadn’t given up yet, appearing in the back of the classroom as usual, secretly observing Ye Ziming and Xiaomuqing.
“Sigh, Boss, why are these people making such a fuss?”
At dismissal time, Xiaomuqing was tidying her desk and chatting with her good brother beside her. Even today, she could still hear some related discussions about whether the number one on the school beauty ranking was actually from their school. Why, after so much time, they still hadn’t found the person.
“…”
Smiling, Ye Ziming glanced at Xiaomuqing. He didn’t speak, tidying his desk while quietly listening to her.
“How can they be so idle? Don’t they have enough homework, or are their phones not fun enough? They spend all day thinking about these pointless things…”
After saying one sentence, Xiaomuqing suddenly got energized and began to rant about certain idle people. To this, Ye Ziming listened quietly with a faint smile, occasionally interjecting or nodding in agreement. This scene was so harmonious that Zhang Xiaoling, standing not far away, felt a sense of helplessness. She suddenly felt that she had already failed before she had even confessed, and she had failed at the hands of Ye Ziming.
“Want to go chat them up? Need my help?”
Her deskmate, Wang Wenxin, noticed something and leaned into Zhang Xiaoling’s ear, whispering to her.
“No.”
This time, Zhang Xiaoling wasn’t startled. She calmly glanced at her deskmate, then continued to look at Xiaomuqing and Ye Ziming.
“Don’t be shy. Tell me what you want to do, and as your good girlfriend, I’ll definitely help you.”
With a sly smile, Wang Wenxin wrapped her arms around Zhang Xiaoling, pressing close to whisper.
“Are you sure?”
Raising an eyebrow, Zhang Xiaoling asked back.
“Of course.”
Nodding, Wang Wenxin declared confidently.
“Then I want to see those two get married.”
“Leave it to me… Huh?!”
Wang Wenxin’s eyes widened suddenly. She looked at her good girlfriend with utter disbelief, as if she had seen a ghost. Zhang Xiaoling also turned to look at her, a faint smile on her face. Her eyes seemed to say, “Go, good girlfriend, all my wishes depend on you to fulfill them.”
…
As the two girls interacted, Ye Ziming, as usual, left school with Xiaomuqing, preparing to go to the cafe to work. While Xiaomuqing went upstairs to change, he followed her and mentioned some arrangements for moving.
“Tonight? I’m moving to your place tonight!?”
“Mm. Bring a few sets of clothes first. The rest of your things can be moved by the moving company on the weekend.”
“Uh…”
Looking at her good brother’s calm gaze and then at her own room, Xiaomuqing felt this was quite sudden. But she had to admit that her good brother’s arrangement was indeed good, and she couldn’t think of a better solution. So she turned and walked to the bed, picking up her usual cos outfit, the one she used as pajamas. Then, after a moment of hesitation, she put it back down. If she took that with her, wouldn’t that be telling her good brother that she wore female attire to sleep every day? How could that be! Her “tough guy” persona must not be broken!

As promised, the third update is here. I’m going to sleep now. Good night.
