Chapter Two: Everything Has Him
The problem that had troubled them for many days was resolved with Gu Yu’s suggestion, bringing relief to the Gu Residence, as the issue of the children’s names was finally settled.
Without delay, after deciding to go to Heavenly Dragon Temple, the Gu family members immediately boarded carriages and set off towards the outskirts of the capital.
Inside the carriage, Gu Mengyao couldn’t help but excitedly gaze out the window. She thought that since becoming pregnant, she hadn’t been out much, and now that the children were born, she could finally leave the residence.
Especially with Gu Yu specially preparing the prescription, Gu Mengyao’s recovery was faster than other postpartum women.
Now, let alone running and jumping, she could even use Kung Fu to beat people without issue.
However, being the mother of two children already, Gu Mengyao felt it was better to be more reserved.
Otherwise, if others saw, who knew what they would gossip about!
Although the capital was not like Yang Family Village, where there were always little wives and aunts gossiping behind people’s backs, if news were to spread, there were plenty of people who would jump to conclusions.
Moreover, the Gu family was very famous in the capital now, and many people who couldn’t stand to see them do well were waiting for the Gu family to fall.
After all, no one could predict continuous favor.
Today, Empress Bai Qian might admire Gu Qingheng, but tomorrow she could turn her admiration to someone else. To solidify the Empress’s favor, Gu Qingheng had to use his true abilities.
In this regard, although the Gu family knew others wished them ill fortune, they didn’t take it to heart.
Their relationship with Empress Bai Qian was long past being ordinary.
The Gu family had many bargaining chips to use. Empress Bai Qian, if she wasn’t foolish, would absolutely not make a move against the Gu family.
Furthermore, besides Gu Yu, the loyalty of Gu Qing and Gu Mengyao, father and daughter, was beyond doubt.
Now, with Gu Qingheng, the top scholar, and the explosives mastered by Gu Yu, these combined to form a very strong alliance.
Such a solid relationship now could not be destroyed just by saying so.
“Mengyao, it’s windy outside.”
Watching his little wife keep sticking her head out the carriage window, Gu Yu couldn’t help but chuckle and speak, thinking that confining Gu Mengyao during her pregnancy had indeed made her very uncomfortable.
She was a restless person before.
However, after this birth, he would have plenty of time to accompany her… Gu Mengyao could go wherever she wished, without worrying about anything.
Everything had him.
“It’s fine, it’s been a long time since giving birth, and my body has recovered well! Are you alright, Yu? You seem stiff.”
Upon hearing Gu Yu’s words, Gu Mengyao immediately turned her head to look at him.
Seeing Gu Yu awkwardly holding the two children, Gu Mengyao felt an urge to laugh, but remembering Gu Yu’s personality, she held back.
Although she had previously thought Gu Yu didn’t like children, which was why he was so indifferent to the two treasures, she immediately saw something amiss once they boarded the carriage and she handed the children to Gu Yu.
Her little husband seemed to not know how to take care of children!
Perhaps it was because the image Gu Yu projected to Gu Mengyao was too formidable, but after discovering Gu Yu didn’t know how to care for children, Gu Mengyao found her husband to be a little bit cute.
However, this made Gu Mengyao decide that her husband and children needed more interaction. Once they reached Heavenly Dragon Temple, it would be perfect to have Gu Yu carry the children into the temple.
Thinking of that scene, for some reason, Gu Mengyao suddenly felt a sense of anticipation.
Perhaps it was because Gu Mengyao’s gaze was too obvious, Gu Yu smiled helplessly. He had intended to secretly learn how to care for children, but plans didn’t go as fast as changes.
Now, he was already holding the two children in his arms… He didn’t know how to describe the current feeling, and while being careful, he also felt a sense of novelty.
These were his and Mengyao’s children!
He felt, the more he looked, the cuter they became.
“It’s just taking care of children, what’s wrong with me!”
Even if his body truly felt stiff, Gu Yu still spoke stubbornly.
He didn’t want to admit that he didn’t know how to care for children; this spoiled, cute appearance was incredibly endearing.
“In that case, when we get off the carriage, Yu, you carry the children too… Although it’s a temple, it’s not our home, and if any accident happens, it won’t be good.”
Gu Mengyao didn’t say much about Gu Yu’s stubbornness, but instead went along with it.
She had previously wanted Gu Yu to get closer to the children, and now that there was such an opportunity, she wouldn’t let it pass.
Gu Yu, however, widened his eyes upon hearing Gu Mengyao’s words, not expecting such an outcome.
Looking down at the two children in his arms, Gu Yu awkwardly swayed his arms. He intended to soothe the children, but it had the opposite effect, waking the two children from their sleep, who then began to cry loudly.
This made Gu Yu even more flustered, not knowing how to coax these two children.
A novice dad, clueless about everything!
After watching for a while, Gu Mengyao, hearing the children tire from crying, couldn’t bear to watch any longer and directly reached out to take the two children, cradling them and coaxing them.
Gu Yu watched blankly. Seeing that the children quickly stopped crying, he quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
He felt more exhausted taking care of children than going to the battlefield!
“Yu, the way you were holding them just now was wrong. The children must have been uncomfortable… See, hold them like I do, and they’ll stop crying as soon as they’re comfortable.”
Just as Gu Yu breathed a sigh of relief, Gu Mengyao suddenly spoke. Her words made Gu Yu subconsciously listen intently.
Gu Mengyao had also learned how to hold children from the wet nurses hired by the Gu Residence. She hadn’t expected to teach Gu Yu so quickly, which made her face beam with a smile, and she suddenly felt a sense of pride.
Her little husband also had things he didn’t know, which was truly unexpected!
Gu Yu naturally understood the meaning behind his little wife’s gaze, which made him twitch the corners of his mouth speechlessly. He then somewhat defiantly reached out and took a child, preparing to try.
It looked very simple; he didn’t believe that with his intelligence, he couldn’t hold a little infant.
However…
Sometimes, what looks easy is difficult to do.
After Gu Yu took the child, the sound of crying loudly echoed from the carriage again, so loud that people from Gu Qing’s carriage in front were sent to check what was happening.
At this point, Gu Yu immediately became honest.
Fine, he really wasn’t capable.
However, Gu Mengyao didn’t laugh at him further. Instead, she smiled and patiently taught him, which made Gu Yu regain his confidence, and his hand-holding technique became more skillful.
Gu Yu was indeed an intelligent person. Although he didn’t master the method on the first try, after trying a few more times, he succeeded.
When they reached the small path of Heavenly Dragon Temple, Gu Yu immediately got off the carriage with the two babies in his arms, his steps filled with pride.
