Kokomet was writing an order form based on the estimate that stated the final amount and had been presented to Kent.
“Alright, this should do it.”
Kokomet finished writing the multi-page order form at tremendous speed.
“You. If there are no problems with this, I’ll give it to Kent, okay?”
“If it’s something Kokomet wrote, there’s no need for me to confirm it. Just hand it over to Kent.”
“Understood. Well then, Kent, please take care of this. I can hand over the payment here, but for safety’s sake, I can also arrange to bring it to you later.”
The Duke approved the order form written by Kokomet without even checking it. This made the order form a document with official validity.
“Is it really alright to receive this much money?”
Kent asked Kokomet again, looking at the amount written on the order form.
“Are you perhaps worried about the finances of the Duke’s family? This amount of money would not cause the Duke’s family’s finances to go bankrupt.”
“That’s right, just as Kokomet says. She handles all of the Duke’s family’s finances. If she says it’s all right, then there’s absolutely no problem, so you can rest assured.”
“Y-yes, I understand. I’ll start preparing for delivery then.”
Kent sought confirmation again for this large business deal, which he had never conducted before, but after being told by both Kokomet and the Duke that there were no issues, he decided to proceed with preparations for delivery.
“Well then, Kent, please start preparing for delivery immediately. We are about to begin tasting the cup noodles and canned goods that you provided. Elnet, please provide Kent with thorough support.”
“Yes, I understand.”
The Duke told Kent to begin preparing for delivery and instructed Elnet to assist him.
“Kent, I’ll guide you to the warehouse, so please follow me.”
“Understood. Excuse me, then.”
Kent bid farewell to the Duke, Kokomet, and Evarist, and, guided by Elnet, headed for the warehouse where the goods to be delivered were to be stored.
“So, what did you think of that man, Mother?”
After Kent and Elnet left, Evarist’s usually soft expression turned serious as he asked Kokomet about Kent.
“I was also surprised to hear from Elnet in a letter that Elnet and Josette had gone to the same man. I actually wanted to meet him directly at that time, but as you know, I was too busy managing the territory and couldn’t fulfill that wish. However, Evarist told me the date Kent would visit the Duke’s family, so I managed to adjust my schedule and come back to talk. Frankly, I found him to be a strange person. However, I didn’t sense any malice in his intention to do something to the Duke’s family.”
“So, you mean he didn’t approach us with any particular objective?”
“That’s right.”
Evarist had been wary of Kent, suspecting he might have approached the Duke’s family to cause harm. For this reason, he had summoned Kokomet, who excelled at extracting information from subjects of interest. However, her assessment indicated that he harbored no ill will towards the Duke’s family.
“Well, I thought so too on instinct. Hahaha!”
“It’s a bit reckless to proceed with marriage talks based solely on intuition without proper investigation, but as expected of you, who has excellent intuition in such matters. My thoughts are the same, and I approve of bringing Kent and Elnet together.”
The Duke had allowed his two daughters to pursue their relationship based on intuition, without much thought. However, Kokomet’s investigation yielded similar results, confirming that his intuition was correct.
“Still, what are these unprecedented items placed here?”
“That’s what’s so amazing about Kent. I asked him for details, but I don’t think it’s something that can be told to just anyone. Not even to you or Evarist, of course. I think it’s best to keep it as a company secret. If you try to investigate too deeply, I think you’ll incur God’s wrath.”
As Evarist looked at the samples prepared by Kent, lined up in the room where the meeting was held, Kokomet indirectly conveyed that it would be best not to get involved further.
“Mother, there are rumors circulating lately that a god has descended upon this country. Can you believe that?”
“Who knows? I haven’t seen it directly, and even if I did know, I couldn’t say it. But this much I can say: Elnet and Josette have brought individuals with extraordinary abilities into the Duke’s family.”
“I agree. With my two daughters bringing in individuals with such capabilities to our side, the Duke’s family will be secure for the future. Of course, Evarist, who will inherit the Duke’s family in the future, must also work hard.”
Evarist seemed not to believe much in gods and had doubts about Kokomet’s statement. However, the Duke’s remark supported Kokomet’s view.
“If Father and Mother both say so, then I will try to believe it. After all, with these unprecedented items displayed before us, it’s hard not to believe that they possess somewhat unusual abilities.”
Hearing about Kent from the Duke and Kokomet, and seeing the numerous unknown items in the room, Evarist felt inclined to believe Kent.
“Well, that’s enough about Kent. Let’s proceed with the tasting. Let’s savor the taste of the cup noodles and canned goods we haven’t tried yet.”
“Yes. Did you hear that? Please begin preparing for the tasting.”
The Duke seemed curious about the taste of the three types of cup noodles and canned goods he had not yet tasted. After Evarist finished speaking, he instructed the servants to prepare for the tasting.
“Well, this is the warehouse.”
“Uwaah. It’s quite spacious.”
While Kokomet and the others began their tasting, Kent and Elnet had arrived at the Duke’s family’s warehouse. As expected of a building designed to store provisions for a thousand people, it was large and had ample space for storing goods.
“I have the funds to procure the items from Mother. Please take them out of the warehouse according to the order form.”
“Understood.”
Elnet showed the bag containing the money for procurement and said, “It contained a large sum of money, as expected for the cost of supplies for a thousand people.”
“It’s a little scary to spend this much money all at once.”
“Then allow me to support you, Kent.”
“Elnet.”
Seeing Kent bewildered by the large transaction amount, Elnet hugged him from behind, trying to ease his tension.
“Thank you, Elnet.”
“No, supporting Kent is my role as his future wife. You can always rely on me.”
Elnet’s casual thoughtfulness was very encouraging for Kent.
“Alright, let’s do this.”
“I can’t directly help with the orders, but I’ll support you in any way I can.”
Kent found great reassurance in Elnet’s gentle embrace from behind. He took out his terminal, compared it with the order form, and carefully began the ordering process.
“Alright, is this all?”
“Yes. The money in the bag is also gone. I was watching from the side, and I don’t see any discrepancies.”
After that, Kent silently continued his work under Elnet’s watchful eye. The ordering process concluded when he had spent all the necessary funds for procuring the supplies.
“Still, it’s an incredible amount, considering it’s for a thousand people.”
“Yes, this time it’s for a thousand people, but in times of emergency, we may need to mobilize even more. In that case, even if the supplies here are assumed to be standard, this amount would be completely insufficient. However, such a situation has not occurred in our country for many years.”
The warehouse was filled with items that Kent had procured using his terminal. To make it as easy to understand as possible, Kent categorized the items, and Elnet handled the fine-tuning of the transportation. Seeing the way the goods were stacked, similar to a Western supermarket, Kent felt a touch of nostalgia.
“Well, the delivery is complete. Let’s go report to Father and Mother.”
“That’s right.”
Since Elnet, a member of the Duke’s family, had confirmed the quantities, all that remained was to report the completion of the work to the Duke. Kent and Elnet left the warehouse and headed back to the room where the meeting had been held.
