Chapter 0
77. Heart’s Echo
“So, Fellow Daoist Qin does indeed possess a Love Seal of my race, right?”
With things having reached this point, Qin Gou nodded and said, “That’s right.”
“In that case, did Fellow Daoist Qin mistake my Love Seal for something else before? After all, with the Love Seal, you wouldn’t have been affected by my Bewitching Technique at all.”
“By the way, this is what we were discussing before, Fellow Daoist Shu, out of nowhere… why would you hunt an honest person like me?”
Shu Yinxing gave a bitter smile and said, “That was a mistake. Using the Bewitching Technique to test if the other party’s words were true was just a very basic spell. Who would have thought…”
“But it did allow us to become acquainted,” Qin Gou said with a shrug.
Shu Yinxing quickly nodded in agreement.
“Fellow Daoist Qin’s Love Seal doesn’t seem to be from my race. May I ask about its origin?”
Qin Gou couldn’t help but feel a headache coming on. “It’s a bit difficult to explain for now. I’ll tell you later, okay?”
“Alright,” Shu Yinxing replied with a shallow smile.
Qin Gou was absolutely right; the two of them had indeed become familiar now. Otherwise, if it were before, Shu Yinxing would never have so readily bestowed her trust.
“Now, let’s return to the guest cave dwelling and make plans from there,” Qin Gou said.
With that, the two of them left the cave dwelling together.
“Have we been delaying for this long?”
As soon as they arrived outside, Qin Gou asked in confusion, “The sky has already turned dark.”
“No. Bu She Tian does not have night,” Shu Yinxing said with grave eyes.
“Then what is this?”
“It signifies that the Great Competition Period, presided over by the Zone Master, is about to begin.”
Shu Yinxing’s dark eyebrows furrowed slightly, and she asked with confusion, “But why so soon? This doesn’t align with the usual cycle. What variable has caused this?”
Upon hearing this, Qin Gou instinctively touched his nose and said, “Such a coincidence? If that’s the case, won’t my challenge have to be postponed?”
Shu Yinxing kindly advised, “I do indeed recommend that Fellow Daoist Qin choose to postpone.”
“So that means it can be unfettered?” Qin Gou immediately pressed.
Shu Yinxing patiently explained, “Fellow Daoist Qin has already obtained the token for the Gloomy Sea. Although you haven’t completely grasped control of the Gloomy Sea, if you truly wish to participate in this Great Competition Period just like this, no Law Power will stop you.”
Saying this, Shu Yinxing looked at Qin Gou, her tone becoming even more serious, “It’s just that, in doing so, although you can directly encounter and challenge other residents, during the Great Competition, they won’t, like before, fight you fairly due to Law restrictions. At that time, you might be facing more than one person at once.”
“This is exactly what I want,” Qin Gou said with a knowing smile.
“Is Fellow Daoist Qin truly that confident?” Shu Yinxing asked in surprise.
“If Bu She Tian were truly that united, they wouldn’t have failed to elect a leader for so many years.”
Qin Gou spread his hands and chuckled, “And the biggest difference between this Great Competition Period and all the previous ones is me. With someone targeting, there will naturally be those who see it as a good opportunity. Chaos benefits me.” Of course, all of this was built on Qin Gou’s sufficient self-preservation abilities.
Hearing this, Shu Yinxing was about to say something when suddenly, a golden light gateway appeared in the sky.
“As long as I enter this, I can officially participate in the Zone Master’s contest?” Qin Gou asked Shu Yinxing, clearly showing no intention of backing down.
Shu Yinxing also saw Qin Gou’s resolve and nodded slightly, “If Fellow Daoist Qin has truly made up your mind… shall we act together?”
“Of course, that’s what I was thinking. Fellow Daoist Shu is definitely much more familiar with all the rules inside than I am,” Qin Gou agreed.
“Since that is the case…”
After speaking, Qin Gou and Shu Yinxing stepped into the air together, arriving outside the light gateway.
“Fellow Daoist Qin, I’ll go in first, and then you come in immediately. After that, our distance will be much closer,” Shu Yinxing reminded him.
“No problem.”
Not long after, Shu Yinxing and Qin Gou entered the light gateway one after the other.
“This is…”
As soon as he entered, Qin Gou immediately felt a strong Power of displacement enveloping him, and his entire person was instantly transported into a pure white space.
“Fellow Daoist Shu?”
Qin Gou could no longer sense Shu Yinxing’s aura at all.
“Could this Law Power be intentional? Can’t I have a reliable guide?”
As he spoke, Qin Gou looked around and found that on all sides—front, back, left, and right—there was a closed door. He didn’t know where they led.
“It seems I have to choose one myself?”
Just as Qin Gou was considering this, unexpectedly, the door directly in front of him was pushed open from the other side. Shu Yinxing, charming and graceful with a slender figure, reappeared before him.
“Fellow Daoist Qin seems very surprised?” Shu Yinxing’s lips curved slightly into a sly smile. “Didn’t I say we would appear in close proximity? You still didn’t believe me?”
Qin Gou withdrew his surprise and chuckled, “Could it be that this trial ground has always been like this and doesn’t change each time?”
“It changes a lot, but it still follows certain rules.”
As she spoke, Shu Yinxing was also examining the room Qin Gou was in.
“Fellow Daoist Qin’s room is exactly the same as the room I just came from. Now, we have a total of six directions left to choose from.”
“Could there be any traps within these doors?” Qin Gou asked thoughtfully. “For example, pushing open a door leads directly into a Law Turbulence?”
“That’s possible.”
Shu Yinxing recounted her past experiences, “So, the primary task here is still to protect yourself. Of course, even if you are caught in the Law Turbulence, you will be displaced out again quickly. Although you will be injured, unless it’s a particularly unlucky situation, these traps generally won’t directly take a life.”
‘However, I still can’t determine if the Fellow Daoist Qin in front of me is real or fake. Perhaps, it itself is a trap to lure me in. I need to find a way to subtly verify it.’
“What did you say?” Qin Gou asked, completely bewildered.
“I’m answering Fellow Daoist Qin’s question, aren’t I? I was talking about the Law Turbulence?”
“But I clearly heard you say that I might also be a trap to deceive you,” Qin Gou said, pointing to himself.
“I didn’t…”
Shu Yinxing suddenly froze, and said with disbelief, “Fellow Daoist Qin can hear my inner thoughts? Could this be the peculiar Law this time?”
“What?” Qin Gou quickly reacted and continued to ask, “Then what about you? Can you understand my thoughts now as well?”
As he spoke, Qin Gou immediately thought to himself, “Fellow Daoist Shu, please raise your right hand.”
Unexpectedly, Shu Yinxing suddenly turned around, her voice filled with caution, “Who’s there? Where are you hiding?”
“What did Fellow Daoist Shu hear?”
“It was a girl with a very arrogant tone who loved to ring a bell.”
