Chapter 0: A Shameless Person
“Slap!”
The whip, as swift and powerful as a rattlesnake, struck Shen Tianyin’s shoulder. Due to the vast difference in strength, even though Gu Feiyan harbored no killing intent, Shen Tianyin was sent flying far like a rolling gourd, landing on the ground and spitting blood, wailing mournfully.
Gu Feiyan’s steps were elegant as she walked towards Shen Tianyin. “Strip him naked, and force him to face the wall here for three days for all to see. From now on, if I see you again, you won’t live.”
With that, Gu Feiyan stepped directly over Shen Tianyin’s wailing chest, walking leisurely and leaving with her head held high.
Two of her followers remained. They roughly tore apart Shen Tianyin’s robes, used sealing techniques to immobilize him, and forcibly made him kneel in a sitting position, a posture as textbook-perfect as can be.
Qin Gou, Cao Yilin, and others rushed over immediately.
“Senior Brother Shen, are you alright?” Cao Yilin asked with a wry smile. “I told you long ago not to be impulsive! It seems now this really was just a coincidence. To think there are people in this world with such similar appearances and demeanor.”
Shen Tianyin did not reply, only a strange smile curling at the corner of his mouth. “Hehehe…”
Qin Gou looked at him inexplicably, puzzled. “Senior Brother Shen, are you alright?”
“Senior Brother Shen, what are you laughing at? Oh no, he wasn’t hit on the head by Senior Sister Gu’s whip, was he?” Cao Yilin exclaimed in shock.
The two followers of Gu Feiyan nearby were also bewildered. Did this idiot’s brain grow on his shoulder? Senior Sister Gu was clearly holding back a lot today, so why did it turn out like this?
“You’re wrong, you’re all wrong!”
Shen Tianyin burst into laughter, ignoring everyone else. “What coincidence? What other life? I am now completely certain, she is Yan’er, my dear Yan’er, hahaha! You’ve really outdone yourself!”
“It’s over, he’s completely lost it,” Gu Feiyan’s followers said with some pity.
Shen Tianyin’s gaze was sharp as he looked at Cao Yilin, his face beaming with joy. “Did you hear what she just said to me? She said ‘I gave you a chance’! What does this mean? She still remembers me, she’s clearly blaming me for not protecting her properly back then! I was still half-doubting, but she revealed herself!”
For a moment, Qin Gou, Cao Yilin, and the others exchanged glances, speechless.
Cao Yilin’s expression was conflicted, unsure whether he should tell Shen Tianyin the truth.
But Qin Gou’s eyes were filled with shock… This fellow was truly something else!
…
In front of Gu Feiyan’s Spirit Gathering Cave Dwelling, flowers bloomed in profusion, exuding a captivating fragrance.
Inside the cave dwelling, Gu Feiyan lay languidly and gracefully on a bed carved from beautiful jade, her body sprawled out.
“Little Mu, it’s a shame you didn’t accompany me to the spellcasting arena to watch today.”
Mu Man’er, who had come to visit, blinked her watery, beautiful eyes and asked curiously, “What is it, Older Sister Feiyan? Did something interesting happen at the spellcasting arena today?”
“Nothing interesting, but there was an imbecile. Of course, there was also a guy who piqued my interest,” Gu Feiyan said, smiling beautifully, but also with some unnaturalness. Few people in the sect had ever witnessed such a pure and hearty smile from her, and she herself rarely smiled so joyfully.
“Oh? What kind of person was he?” Mu Man’er asked, taking small bites of the spirit fruit Gu Feiyan had given her.
“Are you asking about that imbecile?”
“The latter.”
“Oh.” Gu Feiyan pondered for a moment, trying to figure out how to describe him. “He was a very shameless, very brazen person.”
Mu Man’er let out a哑然失笑道 and chuckled. “Shameless? What’s interesting about someone like that?”
“Because he was very unique.”
Gu Feiyan suppressed a smile. “Although that person’s methods were utterly unethical and despicable, he was completely unaware of it. In fact, he seemed quite pleased with such a way of acting! He acted as if it were entirely justified. You should have seen his expression, so full of high spirits, one would think he was some hero who served the country and the people!”
“He sounds quite silly,” Mu Man’er said lightly, imagining the scene.
Gu Feiyan shook her head and looked at Mu Man’er with amusement, teasing, “Silly? I, on the other hand, think that fellow’s shamelessness reminds me a lot of my father when he was young.”
“Older Sister Feiyan, you’re deliberately badmouthing the Cult Master behind his back again,” Mu Man’er said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.
“How could I? Back then, when Father was just an ordinary disciple of the sect, all the trouble he caused can be easily learned by asking Elder Yuan Zhen. Now that he’s the Master of the Sacred Cult and puts on airs, there are still quite a few people who know about those embarrassing stories.”
Gu Feiyan gently pursed her red lips, playfully pointing to her eyes. “Besides, he was also in disguise, a very skillful disguise. Within the entire sect, perhaps no one besides my eyes can see through it.”
“Disguise? Could he be a spy from an enemy faction?” Mu Man’er asked, surprised.
“No. I can tell he harbors no ill will towards the Sacred Cult in his heart, but…” Gu Feiyan frowned her cute little brows, unable to suppress a chuckle. “He seemed very eager to show himself off. His little desire for attention was completely transparent to me.”
“Then who was he trying to attract attention from?”
“I don’t know.”
Mu Man’er playfully stuck out her tongue. “I bet he was trying to attract your attention, Older Sister Feiyan!”
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
Gu Feiyan gave her an exasperated look. “That guy is probably not interested in women.”
“He’s also a closeted homosexual!” Mu Man’er exclaimed in surprise.
“Never mind, let’s not talk about this anymore. I plan to enter the Qionglu Pool for some marrow-cleansing purification these past few days. Do you want to come with me?” Gu Feiyan’s fingertips toyed with her dark, wavy hair as she changed the subject.
Mu Man’er thought for a moment, then politely declined. “I’m sorry, Older Sister Feiyan, but I’m on the verge of a breakthrough recently and have decided to go into seclusion in my own cave dwelling for ten days starting tomorrow.”
“Alright then. It will be a bit boring for me to sit alone in the Qionglu Pool for so long. I really wanted someone to keep me company.” Gu Feiyan picked up a cup of fragrant spirit tea, muttered to herself, and took a sip, the taste leaving a lingering fragrance on her lips.
…
Dawn.
Qin Gou awoke from a dream, his smile gradually becoming more brazen.
“Qionglu Pool.”
