Chapter 0, Section 59: Rage Unleashed
In truth, Kong Ling herself didn’t know why this was happening, as if her body had made this choice of its own accord.
During the time she spent sharing a room and sleeping with this young man, whom she had only known for two days, a long-lost sense of security would linger in her heart, seemingly the root of her ability to sleep soundly these past two nights.
This even made her begin to doubt if her craving for men had reached such a terrifying level.
Yet, she absolutely refused to lose this enchanting and captivating sense of comfort so quickly, much like the cherished peace she felt when being held by her mother or gently patted on the back by her Master as she drifted off to sleep.
“I wish I could go back to being a child.”
This was the sentence that lingered in Kong Ling’s heart, refusing to fade.
“But honestly, Brother Mo Yu, your sleeping habits are too strange. I really feel a bit awkward,” Qin Gou said with much frustration.
“These are extraordinary times. To avoid any further complications, Little Brother Qin, please bear with it. Do it for Kong Ling, I’m begging you.” Kong Ling’s tone was incredibly sincere, her face full of earnest pleading.
Only then did Qin Gou sigh, grit his teeth, and say, “Fine, but Brother Mo Yu had better restrain himself… and I hope you can quickly help me get in touch with your sister.”
Hearing this, Kong Ling finally smiled with satisfaction, but the smile was fleeting.
At the same time, her heart was filled with conflict.
Since childhood, her Esteemed Master had encouraged her to be a self-reliant and self-loving girl. If she knew that Little Ling’er had actually stooped so low as to beg a man she had known for less than two days, just to share a room with him, how deeply disappointed would she be in herself?
Thinking of this, Kong Ling lowered her head, concealing her slightly reddened eyes, and proceeded to another room. Then, she suddenly took out a small statue from her Nas.
The man carved from jade held a fan and smiled, with a clear moon and bright stars, noble and unyielding. His divine eyes held countless stars, with some degree of embellishment, of course.
Placing the statue on a pedestal, Kong Ling knelt respectfully, her eyes moist as she bowed repeatedly. This was Kong Ling’s most important daily task, but today she was particularly moved.
She always maintained a first-love enthusiasm for worshipping this statue, a religious fervor, even more devout than those cultists who would perpetually cherish the demonic and heretical idols of the Grand Princess of the Abyss.
Meanwhile, Qin Gou, separated from the statue and Kong Ling by only a wall, couldn’t help but sneeze several times in succession.
“Little Ling’er must be thinking of me. Master misses you too.”
…
“Your Highness, the Second Prince, Lord Ren Wu Chang has arrived,” an attendant reported.
“What does that guy want?” Kong Ling frowned displeasingly and said, “Tell him to wait a moment.”
After the attendant withdrew, Qin Gou emerged from behind the screen and asked indifferently, “Should I hide?”
“There’s no need to be so wary of him. He’s not from the palace, nor does he have the status to linger in the palace for long. For now, you can pretend to be my attendant,” Kong Ling shook her head, explaining, “What we truly need to be careful of are the Abyss Guards. They are troops who only obey the Demon Emperor. Some appear openly in the palace, but others hold positions such as palace maids and eunuchs. They are the Demon Emperor’s other eyes.”
“But Little Brother Qin, you still need to be cautious. Speak as little as possible and do not provoke him. After all, his status is nothing in my eyes, but for your Faceless Hermit clan, he is a colossal figure.”
“Understood.” Qin Gou nodded and stood behind Kong Ling.
Shortly after, a Demon Race man with demonic marks covering his left cheek and a single demonic horn on his head entered the hall.
It seems Brother Mo Yu’s reminder to be mindful of my words was not misplaced. This demonic horn is one of the symbols of noble Abyss bloodline. This man must be from a prominent family of great importance in the Abyss. In fact, all of the Demon Emperor’s sons, except for Kong Ling, have demonic horns, but unless it’s an important occasion, they hide them. Unlike the man before him, who is so ostentatious.
“Ren Wu Chang, what business do you have?” Kong Ling said, speaking sparingly. If not for her current role as Mo Yu, she would not have bothered to meet this person.
Ren Wu Chang smiled slightly and said carelessly, “I’m not looking for you. I’m here for your sister. But those blind guards outside the palace wouldn’t let me in, and they even used His Majesty the Demon Emperor’s name to scare me. Do you have any good ideas, kid?”
“Do you think my sister would want to see you?” Kong Ling said with a cold laugh.
Ren Wu Chang put his hands on his hips and smiled slightly, “I don’t care about that. It’s only natural for the groom to see the bride.”
“What did you say?” A hint of shock flashed in Kong Ling’s eyes.
Ren Wu Chang said with a smug laugh, “What? Your Highness the Second Prince doesn’t know? The candidate for the Imperial Son-in-law will be officially selected soon, and I am one of the final three! My family background is far superior to those two idiots, so it’s a sure thing that I will be the one to marry the Grand Princess in the end.”
“I truly did not know about this matter,” Kong Ling said, both surprised and angry.
Ren Wu Chang said with a cold laugh, “Mo Yu, I know you’ve always looked down on me. If it weren’t for your status, I would have already fallen out with you. And the Grand Princess, as the only woman in this world who has ever defeated me, will now become one of my women. Is this what they call karma?”
“Who are you calling a woman?” Kong Ling’s face instantly turned ashen, her eyes sharp as swords.
“Hahaha, don’t get angry. It was just a slip of the tongue, a momentary slip,” Ren Wu Chang said with a sheepish smile. “Don’t worry, for His Majesty the Demon Emperor’s sake, I will treat the Grand Princess with respect and distance. But I, Ren Wu Chang, a proud seven-foot man, was once taught such a bitter lesson by a woman, how can I accept this humiliation? You are also a man, you should understand me, right?”
Kong Ling coldly snorted dismissively, “Ridiculous. What can you do if you’re not convinced?”
Ren Wu Chang’s face was full of a wicked smile, “Second Prince, why are you pretending to be a gentleman? Don’t you understand this? No matter how capable your sister is, she’s still a woman! When it comes to the wedding night, I will naturally vent my anger. What, you won’t get angry at me for this, will you? This is a perfectly normal matter between husband and wife.”
“Angry? No, I just want to take action now.” Kong Ling slowly took a step forward, her killing intent radiating.
Ren Wu Chang said indifferently, “Try it? If Your Highness the Second Prince makes a move, I’ll have no choice but to resist. But can Your Highness the Second Prince truly withstand my resistance as Ren Wu Chang? Do you really have the courage?”
“I…” Kong Ling was about to speak, but before she could finish, she saw a figure flash before her.
A scream was heard.
Qin Gou’s punch, infused with all his strength, struck Ren Wu Chang’s face fiercely. Caught off guard, it made Ren Wu Chang stumble and nearly fall.
“Little Brother Qin, you!”
Qin Gou merely glanced back at her indifferently. Kong Ling felt an astonishing ferocity and rage emanating from him. The young man before her seemed to have transformed in an instant, like a fierce god, glaring with malevolence, violent and arrogant.
